Flight is one of my favorite Carrollwood restaurants. The concept is perfect for trying a great variety of food flights. The original«Flight» concept was a bit overdone with 60’s stewardess costumes, and corny terms to go with it, but that has been greatly subdued. The food is consistently good. The goat cheese cakes are dangerously good. The Sunday brunch and Bloody Mary bar is very nice, and we’ve gone several times. They have very good sangria and a good craft beer rotation in addition to a full bar. For all the hype Cigar City’s Brewpub in the same center got, Flight out performs it in terms of culinary quality hands down. Highly recommended.

You would never know this place existed as there’s no signs on dale Mabry, and the tints on the buildings windows, are so dark, it looks closed and uninviting. I am in this plaza all the time at the gym next door, and always thought it was some type of club judging from the exterior and«eccentric» looking middle aged people I always saw going in. Needless to say, Unilocal intrigued me and I thought I’d give it a try. It was dead as a doorknob on a Saturday night, and that almost made me turn around. The inside is actually very modern, clean and comforting. I’m really glad we gave this place a chance, because the food was by far one of the best I’ve had so far. Our server was so nice, after my husband and I argued over getting their tuna tartar over mac’n’cheese bacon bites, she brought out a half portion at no charge, for him to try. The plates are small, almost le a tapistry bar, but after ordering the chicken curry skewers, bison burger bites, tuna tartar & goat cheese spread, we were stuffed. Even before our groupon, the bill only came to $ 47(two spirit drinks added). I am glad we didn’t shy away because NOTHING was disappointing about this place!

It was Sunday, which means it was brunch time. I wanted to find somewhere in the Carrollwood area that I hadn’t been to, and noticed Sarah B. had given this place a good review. I’d always thought this was close to the airport due to the name, but turns out it’s in the same plaza as Cigar City Brew Pub and Sushi Alive — I’d been here plenty of times but never noticed Flight at the end of the plaza. It’s pretty non-descript from the outside and looks like it used to be some sort of night club or, dare I say it, strip club since the windows are blacked out(does anyone know what this used to be?). I was immediately in lust with their brunch deal: — $ 16 all-you-can-eat brunch — $ 10 unlimited mimosa and bloody mary bar The DIY bar is awesome and they have several types of flavored vodkas(I went with the jalapeño!) and so many add-ins for your drinks. Your server keeps bringing you glasses of champagne or vodka and you then load it all up yourself with juices and garnishes. The food was pretty good. It’s not a huge selection, but for the price, it’s an excellent value. There’s a made-to-order omelet station, breakfast meats, biscuits and gravy, chicken and waffles, mojo pork, beans and rice, smoked salmon, salads, pastries, and more. Everything you’d expect for brunch. Overall, the ambience left me a little cold. It was TOO quiet in here, to the point I felt very conscious of keeping my voice down. It probably didn’t help we were seated in the«upstairs» section where the tables are really close together(the restaurant is a split-level with a sectioned off area in the back that is higher than the rest of the restaurant). I wish they were playing some louder music to make it feel a little more upbeat. After we ate we took our drinks out front since it felt too stuffy inside. A larger outdoor seating area would be great here, too.

Last Sunday after church a few of us decided to try the Sunday brunch at Flight restaurant in Northdale. You’ll find Flight in a small shopping center along Dale Mabry which is also home to Cigar City Brewpub and Grill One Sixteen. Flight is tucked into the back corner of this little center, and you have to look for it since it’s not easily visible from the road. The restaurant looks like a lounge that you’d see in an airport terminal. The lighted signs on the walls, the neutral gray carpet, and the sleek furniture would all feel right at home inside of an airport lounge. On the ceiling over the dining room area is an outline of a jet plane traced out in flush-mounted spotlights. Brunch was priced at about $ 20 per person, and the food was delicious, though not a huge selection of items. There was a very tasty fruit salad, green salad, and pasta salad to start. Then there was a station with breads, biscuits, muffins, and croissants that also offered smoked salmon, sliced red onions, capers, jellies, and butter. Around the corner of the bar were some small crockpots holding sausage gravy, grits, and oatmeal with a nice mix of toppings. After that came the waffle maker, and finally an excellent omelet station where the chef had 20 or so items that he would gladly mix into freshly-beaten eggs and cook up according to your directions. They have a help-yourself juice bar with several fruit juices and iced tea — and that’s all included in the base price. For an additional $ 10 you can go for the All You Can Drink Bloody Mary and Mimosa bar. Flight offers several different vodkas which they bring to your table in a small decanter along with a big glass of ice, or a champagne flute. You then get up and go to the build-your-own bar and mix up the concoction of your dreams. I asked for the jalapeño-infused vodka and then built a terrific Bloody Mary with freshly-grated horseradish, a couple of splashes of hot sauce, celery salt, a rib of celery, a stick of smoked bacon, and a skewer with green olives, hot peppers, and a wedge of lime. YUMM-O! In fact, this Bloody Mary was so amazing that I had to have a second one while enjoying another round of food from the buffet. This is not a big ol’ monster buffet spread like you’ll find in many restaurants, but then again it’s about half the price of most buffets. The food is excellent, and you can only blame yourself if you don’t like your Bloody Mary. Reservations are highly recommended, as this place fills up quickly during Sunday brunch. They frequently have discount coupons, so watch for those.

This review is for brunch only. This is MUCH more of a scene for dinner than brunch but we still had a good meal here. So the scene: loungey. It looks like they added some tables to a lounge venue and voila. It’s dark, not bright like How i usually prefer to have breakfast. And there is no outdoor dining. Still, it was a fairly popular place and there were a couple of big groups with celebrations here. Make reservations. It’s the first thing they ask you when you arrive and they have less than a dozen tables so there’s not much room. The offerings for brunch were few but great quality. The had The Best omelette station I have seen. From blackened shrimp to ham to fresh herbs and multiple cheeses; they had about everything you could want. And the chef made them beautifully. The omelette was the highlight of the meal. The waffles however were far overcooked. But they do have real whipped cream to cover up the imperfections in the waffle. I loved that they had bagels and cream cheese and salmon and even a toaster on standby. The dessert table was not temping. All packaged stuff and not many options there. I’m in St Pete, so I wouldn’t make a special drive just to have brunch here but if you’re in the area and want a nice quality breakfast Buffett then this is a good option.

I checked this place out for the first time after purchasing a brunch with a bloody mary Groupon(Yes please!). I was a bit unsure of what to expect as I had never heard of Flight. Flight definitely exceeded my expectations. First of all — the bloody mary bar. They bring you a glass of regular or jalapeño infused(WHAT!?) vodka. You then get to totally mix your own bloody mary. I went for bloody mary mix, horseradish, sriracha, and celery. They also had little skewers with cheese and meats and even a tin full of slim jims. Very unique bloody mary bar! Onto the food, some other people at the table ordered the Latin Eggs Benedict, which was fantastic. I had the Florentine Omelette, which was also very good, but I wished I had gotten the Benedict. My food took quite some time longer than the rest of the table and the manager came up and offered to comp my meal and a round of drinks. Although I didn’t need my meal comped as I had a Groupon, he comped a round of drinks for 3 of us at the table. In my opinion, it is all in how you handle situations and Flight handled this situation in an awesome manner. Although there brunch menu is fairly small, I definitely want to come back for dinner.

Very cute place! It’s artsy and out of this world. The menu is a bit different serving food influenced from all over the world. I tried the shrimp n grits, their specialty fries and the Bloody Mary bar. I was pleased and also love the plating for each meal. It makes it super easy to share if you’re willing. I love the flavor of everything served and the fries are pretty bomb! It’s actually REALLY good, dusted in cheesy goodness. Great place to try if you’re adventurous.
