I love that they support local artists and think we need to support anyone in Tampa who does that– With that being said, everything I have from this gallery is truly exceptional quality so I don’t know what that other reviewer is talking about. The care they put into their work is what makes them incredible. Devoted to a fault. Don’t go anywhere else if you are serious about your house. Just my thoughts.

Best and most creative framer in the area…

They seemed a bit too snoody for my taste. And the craftsmanship of the framing was lackluster at best.

Michael Murphy Gallery is the most professional fine art gallery I have seen in the Tampa Bay area. Even though parking can be difficult at times, the location is in a fabulous part of town with many popular shops and restaurants in the area. The collection is on rotation and features Florida artists as well as national. The artwork on display in the windows and the front of the shop are more spread out. However, if you around more around the back of the shop it tends to get more crowded. There is more to look through, so take a peek. Michael’s staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, mature, fair, and humble. Definitely strike up a conversation to get more information on the gallery and new works coming in. There is also a large business in framing that takes up about a quarter of the space.

The Michael Murphy gallery is a pillar of the community here in South Tampa. We are very lucky to have such a great place for artists to showcase their work. The man himself is very nice and super funny. They do fantastic framework as well.

Nice gallery space. They do a lot of framing — but devote a good deal of space to showing original works by interesting artists. The usual decorative stuff predominates(let’s face it, few people buy the really challenging work) but they do present work by artists that push the envelope — ie: the kind of work that does NOT ‘look good over the couch’ As a serious collector I was pleased with a couple of the artists showing recently and once I transition from grad school to employed, might add some pieces to my burgeoning collection.
