My wife and I dined at Mitchell’s in June 2016. My initial comment is that the only true standout from the evening was the service of Jerald. The food was simply not ‘that’ good, but Jerald’s service was on point the entire evening; even brought our toddler a cup of apple juice(with top and straw). Let’s get to it. Food. First complaint is that my wife wanted to order a filet, but only if she could get bearnaise sauce. To Jerald’s credit, rather than take the order and come back to say no, he said let me go inquire about whether we can make that since bearnaise sauce is not on the menu. He came back and said the chef told him impossible since they don’t stock tarragon, which is the key ingredient to bearnaise. Normally, this would not be a concern or worthy of mention, and understandably so, but my wife had been here just two days prior for a corporate sponsored dinner and they were able to make bearnaise that evening. So either they ran out of tarragon in 48 hours, or just didn’t want to deal with the extra hassle for a single party check; who knows, but two days prior they were able to make it and this time told us the ingredient needed is not used here. My wife went with NY Strip medallions instead, and added a lobster tail. I went with ahi tuna with lobster tail as well. We did a scallops app and shrimp cocktail. The scallops and shrimp were fantastic. I have to say my ahi tuna entrée was not quite up to what I’d consider a good value for the price; it was in the $ 30 range but just left me feeling like I’d had better for the same or lower price. Example, Chart House and Ocean Prime serve a better ahi tuna filet for similar price. The lobster tail was as expected, not great, not bad, and they had drawn butter for both of us. I don’t know; I don’t have anything specific to say that was a stand out negative, Mitchell’s just didn’t seem to wow me for the price, and it was a solid ~$ 200 bill. It was a very good meal and enjoyable evening, but at $ 200 for two, you want to leave saying«wow» and this was not at that level.

We came in today to sit at the bar and have a few drinks & oysters. Darja, our bartender, was great — suggesting different drinks to try based on our conversation & reactions to the ones we just had. The chef came over and asked if we were interested in sampling some of their new summer menu offerings — Uh, YEAH! The Ramen Noodle Bowl w Shrimp & {my fave!} a soft boiled egg, broken open by the server table side, was awesome. The broth, perfectly balanced & the veggies crisp. The noodles are obviously fresh and shrimp had just the right char. Our raw oysters came out then, Katama Bay — flavorful and clean with that oh so slight taste of the sea — another favorite! Then our charbroiled oysters came… How do you NOT order bayou Cajun butter & parm cheese atop those same Katama Bay jewels? Next chef brought out another new dish for summer, the Burrata and heirloom tomato starter, with toasted pistachios & micro greens atop an amazing avocado mousse that was seriously to die for! We came to sip & ended up sampling to our hearts content. A few strawberry mules, grapefruit and basil martinis, Moscato wine sangria & Basil Smashes later, we took our three lbs of raw shrimp & Crab Louis romelade from the seafood market and headed home to continue the seafood fest with a shrimp boil. Thanks, Mitchell’s, Darja & Chef for a really great rainy Sunday!

Awesome place for fresh seafood. It is a bit pricey but you get the quality you pay for. Got only seafood the ahi, prawns and oysters, delish! and it was a perfect pit stop for happy hour before a movie

Always a pleasure going to Mitchell’s. I enjoy the crab cakes. They are very tasty and full of crab without a lot of breading. The service is always impeccable. Knowledgeable and very helpful servers!

We ordered the halibut, the fruitti di mare pasta, the fisherman’s platter, the British fish & chip and the jumbo lump crab cake for an appetizer. All of the dishes were delicious. We’ve been coming to Mitchell’s for the last 5 years and never left disappointed. Quality seafood is worth paying a little more and the atmosphere makes it that much more special. Mitchell’s is for the cool and classy crowd. My fav spot.

Two stars not because the food is bad but because they could do better, there is less space and a lacking of ambience. The gumbo is not real gumbo they should relearn what it is. Menu doesn’t pop. And if your going to cater to children too have non alcoholic beverages on the menu. They have a separate menu for desert like they are a high class establishment. With there prices it should be, but the food doesn’t meet the standards.

Absolutely delicious food. Great atmosphere, wait staff was accommodating and friendly. Suggested order: go during happy hour(4 – 7 m-f), order Bloody Mary oysters, order a martini,(10 $ combined), then order a crab cake and a lobster bisque, put said crab cake into lobster bisque($ 28 combined). Unbelievable meal

My family and I went here on a Sunday night. As far as the food goes, some aspects were good, others not so much. Calamari — it was relatively cool, certainly not warm by any stretch of the imagination. Also, not nearly enough breading and not crispy at all. Ribeye — Good, cooked correctly, seasoned well. Cedar Planked Salmon — While my father in law enjoyed it, he’s allergic to garlic and they served it to him with it… He spit it out without an issue, however that is hardly the point. Fish and Chips — Overly salty, inedible, gross. Lobster and Shrimp stuffed Cod — decent, had enough shrimp and lobster with it. The waitress was inattentive, careless even.

Great food, good atmosphere. We sat in a booth with shades that you could pull closed for privacy, we did. The steaks were excellent and the Hawaiian Ahi tuna was fantastic, especially the ahi appetizer! Amazing! They printed menus with our names on it, really cool. We felt important or special and thats really important to us when dining. Service has been above average both times we went, will definitely be back.

As much as I love seafood, Mitchell’s Fish Market was an «eh» for me. When you first walk in, you’d imagine a pretty fancy schmancy restaurant with top quality seafood. Well… better buckle up because that’s not what you’re getting from Mitchell’s. I ordered the Fish and Chips, a classic. As anyone can imagine, because it is such a classic, it would be pretty hard to mess up this dish. Unfortunately, Mitchell’s FIsh and Chips doesn’t make the cut. The fish itself was pretty flavorless, I had actually have to drench it in the tartar sauce so I could get some flavor. However, the sides were pretty good. The dish come with a side of coleslaw, hushpuppies, and fries. Personally, the hushpuppies and the coleslaw were on-point, bumping this two star review to a three star review. Overall, for the food and quality of food, it’s a bit overpriced, but eh what can you do. The service was also pretty decent. Nothing amazing, but also no complaints. Definitely down to try this place again, but probably not the fish and chips. tl;dr — Don’t order the fish and chips.

Enjoyed the bar this weekend Buffalo Trace, Yuengling and Oysters on deck. Lively spot, plenty of laughter and a fun crowd.

Came here for lunch one day and was surprised at the amount of people that came here for lunch. Obviously a good sign. I had the seafood Cobb salad, lobster bisque, and calamari. Everything was very tasty except the calamari, that was pretty subpar. It lacked flavor and crunch. The salad was pretty pricey but for a good reason. It came with crab, shrimp, and lobster with blue cheese and avacado. Yum yum

I typically don’t really go to seafood chains, being there are so many great local places, but I tried it out one Sunday evening after shopping. I had the ahi tuna and BBQ bacon wrapped shrimp as an appetizer. Enjoyed both, but nothing overly special or exciting. For entrees, we had scallops and tuna steak. Also, nothing overly special about these, but the mashed potatoes and veggies that were served with the entrees were really good. I noticed they have a happy hour and plan to try that out sometime. Service wasn’t terrible, but also nothing overly impressive. Not sure if I will add this to my list of places I frequent, but it was fine for a quick dinner. Also, will probably go one night to check out happy hour.

Beyond expectation! Spicy shrimp appetizer was delectable. Perfect spice complemented by the pickled cucumber. I love this appetizer! For entrée, got the spicy shrimp scallops and salmon in a bed of spinach sticky rice with soy rice wine sauce. Also had the wedge salad and lobster bites. The meal was excellent and the service was spot on.

This was a great place that we took a group of coworkers for an after work happy hour/dinner. There was a group of about 10 of us which I realize can often be very complicated for a server to manage, but our server did a fantastic job of accommodating all of our needs, making recommendations for both food and drink, as well as just overall being super pleasant. There was so much food to choose from I can’t even begin to describe it. Every possible seafood option you could want was made to the perfect temperature or raw if that’s how you liked it. If you’re a seafood lover, and you’re like a great bar this is the place that you should want to visit when you were in Tampa.

I went for lunch and really enjoyed the tuna tacos. Loved the slaw that came on them. They came with fries which I tried to avoid but they were hard to resist. Service was great and so was the atmosphere. I definitely want to return for dinner sometime soon.

I want to love this place. I really do. I always forget about this place when running through my mental index of where to dine. I guess I am just waiting for Mitchell’s to «wow» me when I come in. My co-workers and I have dined in the private room several times for meetings and the food is good. For me, it just seems the service is always lacking. The seafood is very fresh here and I have had several of their dishes. I had the Bloody Mary Oysters and the Fried Zucchini tonight and both were very delicious. One of my favorite entreés is the Market Catch prepared Shang Hai style… yes, I know, a bit cliché ha ha. I have eaten here twice in the past six months sans my co-workers and the service just isn’t on point. Most of the bartenders and servers seem to lack a sense of urgency when it comes to the customers. We were informed that they were out of the White Cranberry tonight for the Tampa Cosmo and the bartender didn’t check back with me to ask if I would still like to order it. He made the drink and assumed I didn’t mind they were out of the white cranberry juice. He also was short with us because we had mentioned the delay in getting our drinks. We sat there a good 15 minutes before we had our drinks which I wouldn’t have minded if he had acknowledged there may be a bit of a wait. If you decide to dine here make sure you aren’t in a rush because there will be a wait for your food and drinks. The staff is somewhat friendly, just oh so slow…

Can this be counted as half a review? I only sat at the bar and had a few items for happy hour which had a nice selection to pick from. The price ranged from $ 5 and up. I tried the margarita off their happy hour as well as some oysters, fried zucchini, and their tuna poke tacos. Everything I tried was alright, not amazing nor horrible. The favorite munch was the fried zucchini. The tuna poke tacos were just way too salty and overwhelming of wasabi flavors. I love my wasabi but it tasted like someone went a little crazy with their soy and wasabi mixture. No! No! Shame on you! The oysters were good, but I love oysters and it may have started up my craving for oysters. Yummy, fresh oysters. Mmm! They are already pre sauced so there no work there. I thought the sauce was on the sweeter side, but I guess I like it spicer over sweet. Still good though. The drink though… less than average? It really didn’t taste like much and a margarita isn’t hard to mess up. I would give them another try as this was only a bar visit. The restaurant is beautiful and the staffs are all smiling, which is a big plus. The happy hour food is meh, but I love seafood so we shall see!

I was super duper drunk after a rose wine class at wholefoods. One guy in the class mentioned about this amazing restaurant. I was not hungry at all but I came here somehow. I tried to order raw oysters as usual. They have not local but the one close to VA. So I passed. I had a seafood pasta and shared with my husband. That’s to?! Yes. I was too drunk and too full. The waiter was a super nice guy. I was not in a good condition but he kept smiling to me. Appreciate it! It was $ 20 – 30. So it could be $ 100 each with a corse menu and wine. I don’t remember the location well but it is in a popular shopping and eating out area. Romantic atmosphere. You should dress up!
