New York Nails

I have been coming to New York nails for years. Conveniently located close to where I live, I’ve come to look forward to my biweekly mani/​pedi at this establishment. I appreciate the low-​frills vibe and warm, family-​run atmosphere. Mrs. Lee and her children are kind and caring people who do exceptional work. She’s always inquiring how my family is doing, and my mother and aunt visit her regularly for their pedicures as well.
Most notably, when my nails were getting especially brittle due to gel, they suggested I take a break — actually they put a moratorium on me from getting it! I can’t think of any other nail salon that would suggest such a thing. In fact, every other place I’ve been to (lived in D.C., NYC) is always trying to up-​sell unnecessary treatments, ruining any semblance of a relaxing experience.
I really value their work ethic, kindness and dedication to great service. I always leave this place in a better mood, and how can you not after some pampering sprinkled with a little celebrity gossip and fresh hands and feet?

full set of acrylics was 18 $, with french (or any two colours) is 21 $. They were pretty nice but they seemed confused when we first walked in, which made me kind of uncomfortable. My nail tech did not ask me what I wanted (in regards to square/​round, long/​short) but instead only really intervened if I said to do something different.
Otherwise, he did pretty good. The acrylic was not too thick, but he didnt get the nails very even in length, despite checking them multiple times. He had someone else paint them, which was fine, but my biggest pet peeve was that he didnt file away the excess acrylic from under the nail! I had to wait the until my paint and nail was completely dried and hardened and then go back to ask someone else to do it!
Over all, it wasn’t terrible, but I probably wont go again unless it’s just to get a fill-​in. The woman who did my friends (younger, short hair) was very good and the woman who did my paint job (younger, longer hair) was very good as well.
