Nicholson House

Nicholson House always has things I never knew existed… but now I must purchase.
I really can’t put a finger on it. I guess it reminds me of a COOL version of the General Store inside a Cracker Barrel. They’ve got everything from purses made out of license plates to really cool key rings to hand made greeting cards.
I’ve bought a lot for my mom and several girlfriends here. You really should take a look here if you’re needing something unique and are tired of looking at the «cookie cutter» boring card/​gift stores.

I remember back in the day when they used to be located in Hyde Park. They have a quirky selection of things you can’t really find anywhere else. I like their support of the smaller jewelry designers. I also found my favorite candle and a selection of other scents by the same brand (Archipelago Botanicals).
So why the three stars when everyone else is giving them five? I’m not sure why, but I was perusing the store for about 10 minutes and the girl never greeted me, asked me how I was doing, asked if she could help me find anything, etc. I feel like sometimes too many questions are annoying, but in a place where there is so much variety, a little guidance would be helpful. Instead, I walked away with nothing. Hopefully, it just wasn’t her day. I’ll return again and see if I can update my review.

Funky cards, great wrapping paper, interesting gifts, glassware and tschotckes… I really liked their Hyde Park shop long ago — nice to see them back!

Such a cute and unique place in Hyde Park! Great selection of fun items and jewelry and really friendly, helpful employees.

The people were so awesome and the stuff inside is so cute. I used to go often when the store was located at the International plaza, but I actually think it is better suited where it is now! I have been inside a few times just to peruse… but it never fails I always end up buying something!!!

A great place for kitchy and cute gifts, jewelry and other quirky home and garden décor. They used to have one in Countryside, but now they just have this location in International Plaza in addition to one in Old Hyde Park. They also feature pieces by local artists, so you can find plenty of funky pieces to add an eclectic and special touch to your home. I knew this place was love when I found a throw pillow the shape of a martini olive. If it were up to me I’d buy every other thing at this store.
