I was shopping at the Whole Paycheck(Whole Foods) and hungry and nothing in their prepared foods section appealed. Their pizza was not an option as I find it terrible. Remembering Joes NYSTYLE was minutes away, I made a beeline for a slice and a soda. It’s easy to find as its next door to one of the most famous so called Gentleman’s Clubs in the USA. The slice pies looked scary — as if they were fresh hours ago — but I ordered up a plain and a pepperoni and a fountain soda. Surprisingly, they tasted good. The crust was crispy and thin. The cheese a little oily but tasty. A decent slice. I’m sure a pie fresh out of the oven would be better. For Tampa Florida — a fine NY Style pizza establishment

Excellent food here. If you Like authentic NY style pizza then Joes is the joint for you. Perfect foldable slices of pizza by the slice or by the whole pie it’s always hot fresh and delicious! If you dare to try and tackle the portions of ziti or eggplant parm etc you’ll more than likely tap out because the servings are huge Tampa, HUgE

It basically is your average pizza. Being a Unilocaler and committing to being a lot more adventurous with my exploration, I decided to try a new pizza place. I took to Unilocal and found Not Your Average Joe’s Pizza. Despite some pretty lackluster reviews, I still decided to give it a whirl(note my adventurous spirit). I navigated to one of the more colorful parts of Dale Mabry and found Not Your Average Joe’s. I couldn’t tell it was a former Taco Bell, it looked like an interesting building. I went inside and ordered a cheese pizza. He took what was either a cool, pre cooked large cheese or what may have been a partially cooked pie from a stack and put it in the oven. I also asked for some garlic knots. These he took from a large stainless steel bowl sitting on top of the display counter over the«by the slice» section. Struck me as a little different but not too odd. Overall the flavor was ok. Nothing outstanding, nothing to write home about, nothing I’d drive 20 mins to get. Just average. The pizza was definitely NY style and easy to fold, but the garlic knots were bland and floating in buttery grease. Service was prompt and courteous. Basically forgettable and average.

This place is owned by Joe Redner Sr. Awesome NY style pizza! Thin crispy crust, good sauce. Really cheap too. Was like 7 bucks for 2 slices & a drink.

I didn’t have high expectations going in because of its location, but I was hoping for a better(or fresher) slice than I got. The location is beyond convenient right on Dale Mabry by the interstate, so I figured I wouldn’t hold its proximity to sketch against it. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere inside and the classiness they managed to hold onto even where they are and even in an old Taco Bell. Unfortunately, my slice tasted dry and a bit rubbery, and didn’t revive in the heating. Maybe it was just a slow day(but not really an excuse) or maybe it’s just their pizza, but I don’t think that even the low prices(only $ 3 a slice) are enough to get me back for a second shot.

I have been coming here for over 2 years now and pizza is excellent. Service is good too. I highly recommend this place to everyone who loves pizza. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday they are open to 3:00am. My favorite is the 24″ cheese pizza. I have it cut up in squares too share it. If you are looking for good pizza at a reasonable cost then come to Joe’s Pizza on Dale Mabry Hwy in Tampa. You won’t be disappointed. Tell them that DANTHECABMAN sent you.

Unilocal, you convinced me to stop in here after years of ignoring it despite the location being walking distance from my condo. Just the fact that it is built within the framework of an old Taco Bell and because it borders the Mons Venus pretty much lay out the reasons I never thought about trying the food here. And it isn’t like they’ve remodeled the interior, so this would never be a place I would ever think of dining in. From a positive standpoint, they serve pizza by the slice and featured about six different pizzas to choose from when I visited on a Friday afternoon. The chicken pizza with barbeque sauce was definitely something I would have again, while the Sicilian was less memorable. They not only get credit for serviing by the slice, but for also offering fried/toasted ravioli. This has been one of my favorite appetizers since my first trips to St. Louis and Detroit many years ago. I didn’t have any on this visit, but I will on the next one. That future visit will definitely come from the drive-thru, simply because I don’t know anywhere else you can get slices AND fried/toasted ravioli without leaving your car. So they have to score with me simply because of that convenience. I won’t become a regular here, but I will take advantage of them being so close to home on occasions when I don’t want to make a special trip for slices from Westshore Pizza or downtown at Eddie and Sam’s.

My first time the staff encouraged rude behaviors from their non-patron friends. I’m guessing these slobs were from the strip club. Slobs is putting it kindly. Listen, I love a party, but these counter staff were clueless to how God awful their disgusting, even racist friends’ remarks sounded to the nearly empty restaurant. It wasn’t late at night either. It was dinner time. Hopefully, the owners see this review. This could be a clue to why their restaurant was empty. I don’t even remember how the pizza even tasted because I was uncomfortable during the experience. I wish I hadn’t paid prior to the pizza arriving because I would have just left. I visited again a few weeks later and it was at the heart of lunch time and again the restaurant was nearly empty, an unfortunate but recurring theme I’ve noticed. The staff didn’t seem excited to see me but given my previous experience I thought things were going quite well. Then I saw the pizza on the counter, for the by the slice sales, while I always have wondered how this model of selling pizza ever worked this pizza in particular looked SO unappetizing that I pretended to get a phone call and walked out.

I came to Tampa on a business trip and any time I visit a new city I search for the best hole in the wall pizza place. Not Your Average Joe’s was exactly what I was looking for. The pizza was delicious, the staff was nice, the prices were perfect, and they had local craft beer in a can(my kryptonite). Since I was a newbie I stood at the counter awhile contemplating my order and the staff was very patient and helpful in answering questions.

Pretty solid NY style pizza. I had a lunch special of two slices and a drink for $ 7. My friend had the chicken parm. Both were very good. The pizza was very thin crust but not crispy. It was greasy and soft, perfect for folding. The atmosphere and the attitude of the staff could be improved a little, but overall it was a nice lunch. Not that anyone was rude or mean, they just had that NY style mean face. Maybe that was intended to make it more authentic.

This is a really solid place. It would not hold up as adequate in New York, but for Tampa it is definitely above average. The problem they have is that the sauce is mediocre and the Crust is not crispy enough, which takes away from the fact that they use really, really good Mozzarella. While it’s not nearly my favorite place in the Tampa Bay area, you could definitely do a LOT worse. Overall I recommend it.

Just when I thought this pizza couldn’t get any better, Joe did it yet again They have achieved a level of taste that usually only affords if you operate in pizza mecca, NY area and have access to only the best NY has to offer. They were able to establish a connection with a vendor that supplies the moozaell that us NYers are usually only privy to. There is a significant difference in the cheese it’s much creamier with less oil that most inferior cheeses tend to give off. This«imported» moozaell has depth with that is soft much less chewy so your able to experience what makes true NY pizza the best anywhere. Again if you haven’t taken my advice to check out this gem now more than ever you must get down here. Staff is very friendly and will treat more than just a customer you are family.

I came in here a few weeks ago for the first time and decided to give their cheesesteaks a try. They use white American, which I prefer over provolone, and they actually mix the cheese with the steak so the sandwich is rich and creamy. Probably one of the best I’ve had in Tampa. The service is nice and it looks like it is family run and operated.

I have to say, I had my doubts when I first came here and saw it had a trashy strip club for a neighbor, but it’s pretty damn good pizza. Not perfect, but almost as good as you’ll get for NY style pizza in Florida. Crust is slightly chewy, but the cheese and pepperoni are very good. It even reheats nicely, which you can’t say about a lot of pizzas. The cheesesticks were excellent, exactly my type and would go back there for those alone. If you like good, no frills pizza, this is a must try.

I was so excited to try this place out because I had driven past it numerous times without thinking twice. After a friend said they had bomb pizza, I decided to check them out. Their customer service was top notch. They were friendly on the phone and in the drive thru. We ordered a large pepperoni & mushroom pizza with medium wings. The pizza was huge and appreciated. The crust was good and thin. The mushrooms were canned which was disappointing. The sauce was weak and that is the main reason for the 3 stars. Cappy’s and NYNY Pizza have better sauce, but overall this is a solid pizza joint. The wings were good and the appropriate hotness. Will I be back? Absolutely. While not«the best» pie in Tampa, they have great customer service and they do make a pretty damn good pie.

I love a super thin crust non-greasy pizza and that’s exactly what this is. Big slices with the perfect foldable crispy crust and not dripping with grease! My only qualm is that it could have used just a wee bit more marinara sauce, but I like my pizza really saucy so that could just be me! Other than that– awesome pizza! I’ll be back!

Ironically, I have to rate this as «average», maybe even slightly below your average Joe’s pizza. The prices are cheap, but the pizza is a bit bland. The mozzarella sticks are just your«average Joe» mozzarella sticks. Frozen mozzarella sticks that got nuked in the deep fryer… not great, but not bad. Overall, I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again, but I did find the drive-thru window was very convenient and appreciated that they were open after 11pm when I had a case of the munchies.
