Best soba I’ve had with awesome flavored Pork Belly and broth! I could go for a few more bowls but opted for a trifecta of Mochi ice cream desserts… all flavors are yum. Green tea and mango are the best. Red bean was refreshing but I should have started with it rather than end, since I wanted more. I need a case of them now. Great service and fast. Food was delicious. Soba was cooked right and broth was just right in flavor. Pork belly just melted in your mouth. Glad to have met Renny and his family. I’ll definitely be back.

At long last, I caught up to this truck one weekend night outside of Cigar City. My wife and I had a particular interest in this truck because she is Okinawan. Because I couldn’t make up my mind and we wanted to try everything, we got the Seoul chicken bowl, soba, gyoza, and tonkatsu. The chicken was surprisingly good as I wasn’t expecting to really like it as much as I did. It has some spice, but not as much as it sounds like. It is a good portion too. The soba was very tasty, as the broth was full of flavor(maybe a tad salty for some) and the meat was really good! They put a good amount of meat in it, and it was seasoned as I remember it. The gyoza was ok to me, as its fried and I prefer steamed. The tonkatsu was pretty good and well seasoned(a little more than I’m used to actually). We didn’t try the yakisoba. I forget the price of it all, but I don’t recall feeling one way or the other about it, which means it was fine. So compared to what I’ve had both living in Oki(for 6 years) and homemade, I liked the soba and the chicken the most. Soba, like ramen, taste different everywhere you go, and I thought this one was flavorful with great meat. The tonkatsu I think was seasoned to American tastes, as it was stronger than most I’ve had. I haven’t had anything exactly like the chicken to compare to, and I’ve already commented on the gyoza. All in all I liked this truck, and I will come here for soba and maybe the yakisoba again. Definitely try it if they’re in your area!

The customer service that they have is outstanding, they served food at SPC Seminole campus and all the students loved the food no complaints. I can’t wait to see them at other community events so I can try their other food

not the best… very disappointed in the Teriyaki Chicken, over-salted and had no flavor, not to mention the chicken was like shoe-leather. Not the best food truck on the block.

Renny’s Oki Doki food trucks came to our offices a couple of times with that«Okinawan Feel Good Food» and a review for them is overdue because people need to know that this food truck is one of the best food trucks out there and a solid go-to option for those craving unique Okinawan food. My favorite dish of theirs is the Seoul Food Bowl with Marinated chicken, stir fried with onions and Korean red pepper paste, over cabbage salad and jasmine rice, topped with our creamy«habu sauce» and kimchi salsa and it was absolutely delicious. I have also had their Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl with Teriyaki marinated chicken stir fried with onions over crisp cabbage and carrots and jasmine rice, garnished with scallions and red ginger and it was pretty tasty as well. I have not tried their Katsu Chicken featuring Crispy chicken cutlet with sweet and tangy katsu sauce over seasoned jasmine rice, with Asian cabbage salad but look forward to it the next time they visit our offices. My coworker like their Ma-san Soba which is a Japanese Soup with Okinawan soba noodles in a rich pork broth, topped with braised pork belly, scallions, pickled ginger and«togarashi» which had a Japanese red pepper & sesame blend. Renny’s Oki Doki also serves a side of seaweed salad and egg rolls. You can make any entrée a meal deal with an egg roll and drink for $ 10. My only gripe with this food truck is that they don’t stock enough food and quickly run out of their most popular items and then all of their items. I went the other day at 1:30PM with a half hour left of their promised food delivery and they were already all out of food. I was forced to go to another vendor. Other times, I got out there a half hour after they started serving and they were already out of their Teriyaki Chicken Rice bowl. So if the Renny’s Oki Doki food truck appears somewhere, make sure to get out and hit them up as early as possible so that you can get as many options as possible from their menu. Staff was friendly and explained all the dishes. Food comes out relatively quickly within 5 – 6 minutes usually. The logo of this food truck is a Japanese guy on an aqua background. I look forward to their next visit and will be sure to go out earlier so I can get the good stuff!

I finally got to try Renny’s oki doki. I found their food truck through a posting on Facebook and I started to follow them to find out when I could check them out. I ordered the chicken katsu for my girls with sauce on the side. It was really good and traditional katsu sauce — tangy. The ones in hawaii is more on the sweeter side which I’m use to but this katsu sauce is the traditional Japanese style. I forgot to ask for plain white rice without any furukaki… my girls didn’t like it. They say it’s served with Jasmine rice but wish it was with traditional white rice. But it’s still good and prob healthier than white rice. I ordered the ma-San soba. It’s udon noodles with a slight spice in it… I think I know what they sprinkle in. And many slices of pork belly! Man that pork was so tender and seasoned so right. It reminds me of a place in Hawaii called your kitchen. I can’t wait to get a pork bowl from this truck and hopefully they serve it with a boiled egg. I also got an egg roll… all the food was to go and it kept warm till I made it home after 15 mins or so. But I used my sweet chili sauce at home to dip my rolls and it was good. Still crispy and flavorful filling. Thanks for such great food for a good cost! And service was pretty fast!

This food truck frequents my job and I always order the Seoul food bowl. The food is excellent and the service matches. The owner works on the truck. He takes pride in his food and is always up for a conversation. They have a loyalty program for repeat customers. I am on my third card. Yum

My new favorite food truck in Tampa bay. I’ve been wanting to try Oki Doki’s for a while now, and I was so excited to hear they were coming to The Coves! We ordered the Teriyaki Chicken, gyozas(steamed dumplings), and soba noodle bowl. Everything will fantastic, and the owner was really, really nice. Food was fast, fresh, and delicious… definitely check this out if you can!

The food was great! But… It left me sick for three days. I still get chills thinking about it! Really good food, but not worth getting sick for. –_–

In town for a work conference & decided to check out some of the local sites & food. Went to an awesome local brewery last nite, 3 Daughters, where this food truck happened to be parked at. As I walked up to check out the menu of traditional Okinawan grub, I was pleasantly greeted by the owner & his wife, Renny & Tracy. What’s REALLY great about this particular truck is not only the food that you just can’t get anywhere else, but it was also designed by a childhood friend of Renny who used to be a top Disney animator. & I just looove Disney! Back to the menu… Amongst the variety of items to choose from was Soba(thick noodle in broth, topped w/braised pork belly, sprouts, green onion, red ginger, & a spicy sesame blend spice), Seoul bowl(Spicy marinated chicken chunks over rice & cabbage salad, topped w/kimchi salsa & a creamy, tangy habu sauce), Short ribs(marinated & grilled Asian style w/rice & kimchi side), Homemade Gyoza(crispy dumpling-like a potsticker, served w/dipping sauce), Tori(chicken tenders basket w/fries), Katsu Tofu(crispy tofu strips w/Katsu sauce, rice & cabbage salad), seaweed side salad, &3 different flavored mochi ice creams for dessert! Entrees ranged in price from $ 6-$ 8 w/drinks & dessert choices at $ 1…can’t really beat that! I started out trying the Seoul bowl & was glad I did! The chicken was meaty & juicy but the spicy sauce was what makes it. Nice lil kick, but not really spicy in my estimation, as I’m one for spice. The best part? It filled me up! After a few hours & a few drinks, my appetite creeped back. Glad it did, cuz I wanted to taste what other deliciousness could come from Oki Doki. For round 2, I went with their signature dish, the Soba, which happens to be Okinawa’s national dish! According to Renny, the noodles are Okinawan, which compliments the nice broth well. The pork belly had a yummy flavor, good meaty pieces w/a lil bit of fattiness, providing a different texture profile & taste. Delish & a great comfort food dish! Lastly, I tried the green tea mochi ice cream. The cool dessert was welcomed after having the warm Soba & wasn’t extremely sweet, like some can be. If you haven’t had mochi, it has a nice chewy texture. There was a buzz around the brewery regarding the food. I saw, smelled, & heard that the ribs, tori, seaweed & Gyoza(5 to an order) were all executed perfectly. Service was quick & extremely friendly, w/Renny constantly interacting w/customers & even knowing some by name! Hospitality at its finest! If you like Asian cuisine but are looking for some w/a different flare, follow Oki Doki on FB, Twitter & Instagram to check these guys out. What are you waiting for? Believe me, you won’t be disappointed!!!

Have gone to their food truck on a few occasions at the USF College of Health and have never been disappointed. I tend to get the chicken katsu with a side of egg rolls whenever I go, but friends have told me their other offerings are great as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys Japanese style food.

Renny’s food truck is awesome! I first tried it two years ago when they stopped by Metrocon and had their Chicken Katsu. It was one of those things you wished you had ordered more of and I would have, but their line was so long. Fast forward to this past weekend, they back at Metrocon and again, long lines! But it moves pretty quick and the food comes pretty quick as well. I ordered the Spam Musubi and it tasted really good(again, should have ordered a few more). It’s a really simple dish but they spices they put it on it complimented it so well. Anything with a fried egg is automatically +1. Renny and his wife are really nice people. I didn’t get a chance to talk to them this time but two years ago, we had a quick conversation and they told me about how they started their food truck. I think it was their first year there and they were surprised by the amount of people lining up for their food(I think she said she didn’t prepare enough lol!). I’m so happy they’ve come back to Metrocon and hope to see them again next year and around town more often.

Partook in Renny’s Oki Doki last night outside of cigar city brewing. It was the bomb. I got your standard fare– egg rolls and gyoza, and I also decided to get a little brave and order steak from a food truck– rib eye to be specific. The egg rolls and gyoza were both delicious, though I’ve never had a dumpling I didn’t like, so I’m not sure how credible I am there. The egg rolls were more petite than I expected, but very good– flavorful without being too oily. The rib eye, which Mr. Oki Doki suggested, was the absolute star of the show! Holy cow was it good! Somehow they managed to char small chunks of ribeye while still keeping it super tender on the inside. Christmas miracle, I tell ya. It was served over a bed of rice and peppered with diced peppers(heh), sesame seeds, and green onions. I could have eaten twelve of them. I will now stop for Renny’s Oki Doki every time I see them anywhere.

I saw this food truck outside the Coliseum in St. Pete for the Halfway There beer event. There was an incredible wait time of about 1 hour and 20 mins which was not ideal, though I do understand there were only two food trucks for that many drunk people. The food was great though! I got the soba and the gyoza. The soba had some really tasty pork belly on top and the noodles were slurpalicious. Would definitely like to try some more items from the menu because they all sound pretty good!

I finally caught this truck! After my long search, and in high hopes of trying something-anything from them, I finally caught up to this thing at the Curtis Hixon’s River O’ Green Event for St. Patrick’s Day weekend. And… they were sold out of everything. I guess they don’t cook on site, because I’d imagine at these prices they could tip some cabbie for a backup supply of reinforcements, but no. The search continues! I don’t know that the people of Okinawa are up to the task of feeding massive amounts of hungry Americans, but maybe just the lucky few.

I used to live in Okinawa, so I’ve really been trying to eat some food from here. However, all 3 times I’ve been fortunate enough to see this truck, 90% of the menu is sold out. Seriously guys, get a bigger refrigerator to hold more stock. Bananas!

Pretty tasty food truck. I’ve had their gyoza and some other things. The food is very fresh, though I find the portion sizes kind of small.

Okay I haven’t been to Okinawa, so I have no clue what real Okinawan food is like. I heard about it being mostly fish and sea vegetables, making Okinawans the longest living on earth, that is, until McD decides to introduce them to our great American culinary achievement. But that’s not what you’ll find at this food truck. Well, Oki Doki is more like a cross between Japanese and Chinese. There is teriyaki, and pork w crispy skin similar to those in Chinese BBQ joints. There is gyoza, and soba. Rice is topped with a sprinkle of seaweed and sesame. We had a sampling of several dishes among us, they are all good but the crispy pork is a favorite. Yum!!!

Konichiwa! This Japanese influenced food truck is new to the Tampa food truck scene and I had the opportunity to try it during the July 4th rally in Lutz where this and 28 other trucks were serving up some great street food. Their menu features Okinawan street fare like Soba Noodles w/Chicken, Marinated Short-Ribs, Gyoza(pan-fried pork dumplings), and braised chicken wings. I tried the Rafute Wrap which is a wrap with braised pork belly, rice, veggies, kimchi, and wasabi mayo. While the flavors were great, the pork belly was slightly on the chewy side. The wrap would have been perfect if the pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender and braised a little longer. The soba noodles I saw other people order looked really good, so I might have to try those next time. Overall, this super friendly truck adds more variety to the Tampa Food Truck family and I look forward to trying more of their food. Arigato, Renny’s!
