I wish I could give this place a negative rating but it’s not an option. I scheduled my appointment online for an «extreme bikini wax» the description said and I quote«This waxing goes in further than our Classic but not as extreme as our Brazilian waxing. The hair is removed from the labia to the back part of the buttocks leaving a strip in the front.» To me and everyone else I asked about it told me that this was pretty much a Brazilian with a landing strip. The woman that waxed me didn’t clarify what it was that I wanted and did a normal bikini wax and then when I told her that’s not what I wanted, I myself apologized for misunderstanding the description. She then went on to apply the wax on areas she has already waxed going against the grain of my left over hair(THATSNOTHOWYOUDOTHAT) and then applied the wax strip and pulled it off going WITH the grain of my hair(THATSDEFINITELYNOTHOWITWORKS). When she couldn’t get the hair out, she did it again and again, making my skin redder and redder. I asked her to use the tweezers instead of going over again and again with the hot wax, which was painful to begin with. I debated about leaving a bad review and opted to call to tell them about my concerns since the woman obviously didn’t know what she was doing and the receptionist pretty much told me it was my fault because I didn’t know what I wanted. I told the woman that regardless of the misunderstanding, if the woman waxing me knew anything about what she was doing she would’ve told me to come back another time since you don’t wax over places that have already been waxed. The way the receptionist handled this issue was inappropriate. I also would have been completely okay coming back, but the woman didn’t even give me the option and continued waxing until it was physically painful. I would not come back again.

Like any good spa, the moment you walk into Serenbe Day Spa you are transported from a world of hustle and bustle to one of serenity and tranquility. Songs of meditation are pumped softly through the speakers, the glow of the outside world has been dimmed considerably and cucumber flavored water flows as freely as a hippy at a Phish concert. I’ve now been to Serenbe’s current location four times for massages(well three times for me and one time for my wife). Not only are the massages that Shannon offers first rate but Serenbe’s chalkboard, which is located to the right of the check in, always forces me to come back. I mean that thing is always filled with massage specials that are hard to pass up. Before my massage has even taken place, I’m planning out the next one. My latest visit was a gift from my wife. It was a 90 minute massage for a discounted price. This was my first ever 90 minute massage as I usually go the cheap route and get a sixty. I’m going to have a hard time going back. The 90 minute version allows for more time to focus on each part of the body. While after 60 I leave wanting more, 90 seems to be the perfect amount of time(any longer and I might be ordering food for delivery and trying to move my stuff in). Shannon is a fabulous masseuse. At the beginning of your visit she inquires about how much pressure you want(I always ask for it hard) and if there are any areas you would like to focus on. At that point she leaves the room and allows you to make yourself comfortable. When she returns, she immediately begins working magic with her fingers. Shannon does some crazy things on your back and neck. Each time I wonder who has snuck into the room to help, there is absolutely no way that only two hands can do what she’s doing. For the deeper spots, she throws you the old wrestling elbow. Nah, not really, but she does get her elbow involved. I’ve never had someone do this before. It really seems to get those deep, hard to loosen knots out. In the sixty, Shannon hits the neck, shoulders, back, arms, hands and legs. The 90 also gets some head and feet treatment as well as longer doses of everything else. Eventually, Shannon whispers to you to take your time getting dressed and, like all good things, your massage has come to an end. She then departs leaving you to dress in a slow, dazed manner. If you’re looking for a loud, chatty place to gossip with your friends, Serenbe is not the place for you. If you add all my visits together, Shannon has probably said 50 total words to me. But I’m cool with that. I’m not there to chat, I’m there looking for an experience that will allow me a brief escape from the stresses of the outside world. Serenbe definitely brings the A game when it comes to that.

Bunch of morons. I had an appointment scheduled as a father’s day present. When I got there they looked all confused. I showed them my confirmation email and then they tried saying I had called the day prior and rescheduled. I told them I never called and they said somebody called pretending to be me. I told them that was impossible, who would know my name and appointment time? They said they were booked and there was nothing available. Totally incompetent… never going back. By lying to me they just lost a customer.

Be very careful with the facials. I had a facial here and it turned into a very expensive trip to the dermatologist. The only thing I was offered was an apology even after I went back and showed them my face. Needless to say I haven’t been back since.
