Simply Good

Just like the sign says Perfection takes time! I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was very good. Make sure to order fries they don’t automatically come with. Son had hot wings they were huge and he said tasted great. Glad we found this place while visiting florida!

A hidden gem indeed. Wonderful friendly staff and great southern style food. You could tell everything was homemade and cooked to order. The food did take a little while but definitely worth the wait. If you are in the area you should give it a try. Don’t go by there menu as they don’t always have everything, I assume it’s a good way of keeping everything fresh!

What a delight to find this spot for breakfast on the way out of town! The hospitality was great thanks to Cecil, and the food was top-​notch. I recommend the Cuban bread with the breakfast sandwich. Fantastic!

A hidden gem the Palm River/​Brandon area. I love coming here and the food never disappoints. The restaurant is clean and the customer service is awesome. You can tell it is ran by family and they are doing a great job.
Most of the food is made to order. I normally get their chicken and waffles and a glass of their home made sweet tea. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended if you are ever in the area! Enjoy!

Simply Amazing! My friend and I went after a long day at work. I ordered the chicken and waffle with a side of collard greens. It came with 3 wings and of course the waffle. From the first bite of the waffle I was in heaven. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the collard greens had great flavor and wasn’t salty. I will definitely be going back and trying more from their menu. The portions are big and the prices are great. If you’re looking for great soul food, you won’t regret going to this spot!

After eating at many soul food establishments, I have come to the conclusion that «good» is not «simple» — too many places miss the mark. Not this one. Delicious food, very personable owner. Food is cooked to order, deliciously seasoned — I could eat the waffle for dessert! We tried smothered pork chops, chicken & waffles, and country fried steak — all were scrumptious!

This was my first go-​round with soul food. Upon entering the place I noticed it was clean and spacious. You are better served to order at the counter and be seated as opposed to waiting to have a server take your order. I thought it appropriate that I order the chicken & waffles with a mac n cheese side. The chicken is 3 jumbo ‘whole’ wings cooked to order so don’t be in a hurry. The wings were cooked spot on but lacked flavor. Salt and pepper would have gone a long way. They are served with a Belgium style waffle cut into its qtrs. the waffle was light, fluffy and cooked perfectly, dressed with syrup and powdered sugar. The mac n cheese was above average but didn’t blow me away. Not overly cheeses, not distinguishing flavor profile but still above average based on flavor, texture and consistency. The staff is extremely friendly. Give Simply Good a shot if you’re in the neighborhood.

Great food and great customer service. Everyone is really nice and the place is big. I’ve never dined in but of the multiple times I’ve had take out there, I was pleased. Also, they give big portions and prices are reasonable. I’ll have to try their breakfast some time in the near future

Soul Food done right. With the extra salt when needed. All the right combinations to remind you of how grandma did it. You can’t help but crave once you’ve had a meal here. But do yourself a favor and try something different each time you visit.

If you’re craving soul food. This is the place to be. Thankfully I found this restaurant on Unilocal.I never knew it existed. I’m glad I went. The menu has a great selection so anything you’re craving u can try. I opted for the chicken wings dinner. Me being the picky person, I asked if they can smother my chicken wings and they were nice enough to make them. Best decision ever! It took longer to cook which I was ok with because they make the food fresh to order. From the chicken to the collard greens everything was savory and full of flavor. Proportions are filling. I couldn’t even finish my plate for the price it was well worth it. The waiter was new but he was really nice & friendly. All the staff was nice & friendly. Next time I want to try their breakfast! I’m always down to try chicken & waffles!

I have to say all in all simply good is a wonderful place to eat the chicken and waffles are absolutely delicious
the owners are a pleasant couple and a joy to be around

This place is a hidden gem. After months of searching for a good soul food restaurant I have finally found one. The food is great. I’ve sampled almost every dish and I am pleased with them all including the sides. The deserts are good too.
This place is perfect for the nights you don’t feel like cooking and want a good olé home cooked meal ready to eat the way you would make it.
The name says it all because the food is simply good.

Simply Good! This place has very «good» food. I was born & raised in Mississippi & I know real southern food. both ordered fried pork chops which were very tasteful! The cabbage, turnip greens, potato sald were all very bland.
The best part of this place is were the homemade cakes! OMG! The red velvet & pound were amazing! I will go to this place for the cakes from now on. Simply good is a better of soul food places I have had in Tampa

Stopped in for lunch and was sooo glad I did. The inside is clean and was fairly large area there was not a lot of decorations but you know what I am not there for the decoration. The owner/​waiter was friendly and very helpful. I ordered the Angus burger and let me tell ya it was juicy, thick and flavorful it hit the spot (and when a girl tells ya it hit the spot that means it was GOOD) I enjoyed the burger and fries so much that I will be back and soon. My hubby had the ribs and coleslaw, he said the ribs good little salty but that may have been the barb q sauce and so was the coleslaw. I cant wait to try the chicken and waffles. But dont take my word for it go check it out yourself bet you will be back.

I have only gotten food from here to go. I have only tasted two items from here which have proven to be good. I purchased on several occassions the fried chicken wings, which are greasy and good as they are supposed to be. They take a while to come out because they cook to order but if you have a taste for hot greasy fried chicken wings that are of good size then this is the right one. I just purchased a side of Chitterlings, which I haven’t had for years, they were ok and the price was pricey for the 10 oz size that I was given. Customer service was nice, I never ate inside always to go. The owner/​cook is nice enough but on the multiple times that I go here, he always is sitting out in the dining hall looking hagard and weathered and speaking to someone sitting down and he is not just stopping by your table to see how the food was doing, it is like he sits and takes a load off and chats. Since I don’t know him, not sure I would like him doing that. His food is good and I can’t take that away from him. The dining area shows signs of some woman’s touch but I see no women there. Customer service is nice enough but I don’t think it goes far enough. If you know that it will take 13 minutes to cook stuff or longer, than advise the customer and give periodic updates as to when the food/​order will be ready. I would advise that if you go to eat inside, to order an appetizer because your entrée will take a good while to cook, IF they have it. They sell out of stuff as well. Bottom line, call ahead to see what is available. Over all, I do return b/​c those wings are good and reasonably priced. Won’t do the chitterlings for another few years.
