Hey there! My name is LuLu. I’m one of the artists. The Wandering Eye Art Gallery is a Co-Op gallery located in Centro Ybor. I couldn’t figure out how to respond to M.J.‘s comment below.(By the way M.J. I voted your comment«funny» so if you got a notification, yeah, that was me.) If you’ve come to the gallery 4 times, we probably met! My suggestion to all of you reading these reviews, our website actually has pictures and videos of our events and set-up, so you can experience our«angst» for yourself!(lol!) What I will say is, we are local artists. Each of us have received recognition within the art world. If you want to get into art collecting, local art is the PERFECT place to start! Not to mention, we are the type of place your sister or brother(who is an artist) would use to break into the art business and make a name for themselves. This gallery gives artists an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work. We have been around since 2013 and our doors remain open thanks to our supporters! I don’t know who you are Mr. Art Collector, but thank you for the repeat visits! Thank you to everyone else who supports the art community and small businesses!

I’ve been four times, mostly to walk-off a big dinner at Acropolis down the street. I collect art and am always looking for good, local work. BUTWHERECAN I FINDIT? This place? Think angsty community college freshman + access to paints & «objects» + an abundance of enthusiasm without the benefits of skills = Wandering Eye Art Gallery. Don’t know how they afford to keep the lights on. Can’t be through art sales. Ooph.

In regards to the recent show that was supposed to showcase domestic violence. I saw no awareness brought to domestic violence, what I saw was a charade, a boost to people’s ego. I was so glad that the actual domestic violence advocate from the women’s shelter left and was spared from the tragic circus that began. I have never been a victim of domestic violence but I was insulted by the bazaar that transpired later in this«art» show. Hip hop music that degrades women is not something that should be played at an event that is supposed to inspire them and help them rise up from abuse. This was actually an exact copy of the last show that I attended there, no new ideas, nothing innovative and artistic at all. Rap and reggaeton music played from the same DJ as the last show, a random yet much less classier salsa dance, as the last show, having zero meaning at all except to draw in people for entertainment rather than intellectual conversation about the issue at hand. The only good thing about this event where the photos, they portrayed the struggles of domestic violence and how the victims are stuck in the relationship because they love the abuser and the abuser loves them as well but in a twisted way that allows them to abuse their love. We were also able to see the plight of a suicidal lady and her struggle within. With a better presentation the show could have had some actual meaning and not just hurt those that have already felt so much pain and suffering.

Nice little co-op gallery in the heart of Ybor! Plenty of affordable pieces of art, all made with love by local artists. Yea, there’s a lot of strange stuff, but it’s always a welcoming environment and it’s always fun to stop in and see what the artists are working on. It’s interesting to see that the place is actually a For Lease storefront that they managed to negotiate using and paying for utilities until the space is filled, because it’s in a really great spot in the heart of Ybor. It looks like they constantly have different art openings, which they keep updated on their website and Facebook. We managed to be in the area when they had one of their Second Saturday«art walk» nights, which was neat because it coincided with the Castle’s Steampunk party so everyone was decked out in their best gear. It’s always packed on those nights(probably because of the free snacks), but it’s fun to stop in if you’re in the area!
