First time I stopped in driven by this plaxe for years. The bartender Mandy was amazing. Definitely will be back. Happy hour prices were great.

Yee-haw, love dive bars! Not always quite so easy to find one in a decent nieghborhood. This bar had the same clientele as most dives I have frequented. From the passed out drunks to incognito attorney’s and all inbetween. This dark watering hole, has some fun games, nice staff & an incredible cast of patrons, present company included. We stayed for a short time, only to promise we would be back again. What’s a girl to do? Good dives are hard to find.

Very casual must see little place. Walk around the area so much fun. Prices excellent. Foos ball, pool, and hunting are in good shape and history posted all over the walls. Excellent!

How does a dive bar get 4 stars? It reeks of cigarettes, is dirty, only accepts cash, and is usually dead. Not sure why people are scoring this so high but there are other bars in Soho that offer 2.50 beers and even for less that aren’t complete dumps like this and accept credit card. Macdintons has $ 1 beers on Thursday’s and isn’t a complete dump. A dive bar at best should not smell should still be clean and could still be cheaper than this

Tampa’s original unpretentious watering hole. Bring cash, drink beer and leave your drama at home.

Only way to describe the place is a good down home honest to goodness dive bar. Nothing special and frilly here. Cheap drinks, a pool table, and a juke box.

The Tiny Tap is a throwback joint where you can sit quietly and have a cold one and read the paper while the pleasant buzz of neighborhood regulars goes on down the bar. It reeks of cigarette smoke, but that’s not enough to kill the experience. The vibe is quite friendly. My only quibble(thus 3 stars) is that there are only two tv screens and the management seems to be reluctant to show baseball when a new patron makes the request. At least that was the case when there was a football game on another network. But it is only polite to defer to the preferences of the regulars. Maybe if I achieve that status, I can get to watch baseball sitting at the bar. Then the Tiny Tap will be just about perfect.

No brainer… best dive bar in South Tampa. Kasey, Mike, Dave, and the rest of the staff are always entertaining and the beer is always cold. PBRs are only $ 2.50! Leave the credit cards at home because they only accept cash at this establishment. Also — it is only beer and wine here. Usually the perfect bar to end your night, but you will leave smelling like cigarettes so be prepared to take a shower when you get home.

What’s not to like about the Tiny Tap?! If you enjoy dive bars, cheap bears, pool and a jukebox this is your spot. Whether you’re a regular or just stopping in, it’s a spot you’ll end up at if out in the Hyde Park area for sure.

This place is a little shoebox in SoHo/Hyde Parkish area. I was surprised by how not gross it was. The front room consists of the bar and bathrooms, and the back room has games and a jukebox. The bartender was very friendly, as were the drunks scattered throughout. Added to all the coziness of the oldest bar in Tampa is the fact that the drinks here are pretty cheap. This is definitely a dive I will revisit.

The fact that the Tap still continues to survive is a testament to its history. It’s a real life dive bar Cheers.

The coolness of this place depends on your company and your level of intoxication when you arrive. Cool, dive bar just off Howard Avenue in SoHo. Cheap drinks. Beer and bad wine only. Bartender was friendly, attentive, and easygoing. Pool tables, dart boards, jukebox. Smoking allowed as is singing along with the music. Cash only with an ATM on premises. Women’s bathroom is not the worst I’ve seen. Men’s bathroom is outside(?!?). Charming.

Finally got there… and will repeat visiting this legend that contrasts the glitz, inflated prices and couth of most SoHo bars & restaurants. My wife and I were warmly greeted by barmaid, owner, other patrons, occasional musician and all we found in the dim bar. Instantly included in discussion and fully briefed of the history and character of the institution. Beer and wine only, plenty & cheap, with 16 oz PBRs the drink of choice at $ 2 a can, with reserves being stocked in anticipation of the Gasparilla Eve expected crowds. The two quarter pool tables had been cleared to accommodate more drinkers, leaving oblong perimeters of worn floor paint to show where the tables had been, possibly since 1951 when the former service station got its first beer license. The place shows its age and has accumulated clutter, including a certificate declaring it a «Dive Bar»…and we debated the criteria. I contend you cannot be a dive bar with WI-FI, craft beers like Cigar City, no jars of pickled eggs or pigs feet, no clunkers or bicycles parked outside, no beer spilled on the floor and no one nodding off. The barkeep and patrons all toasted me with their PBR cheap beer and invited us back later to see spilled beer and lots of rowdy or sleepy drunks — -taking great pride in being dive citizens. In any event, I will be back and hope to gain citizenship status.

Its a dive. And I mean that with all the love I can muster. I hate beer and I still like the Tiny Tap for its absolute authenticity.

Cheap beer, cheap pool, cheap darts, smoke-filled, dust-covered, update-challenged(except the TVs). Bring your cash(preferably some in quarters), and you can enjoy a long, fun-filled night of drinking and shooting the breeze with buddies. If you see the exterior and aren’t dissuaded, odds are you’re going to like the Tiny Tap very much. Oh, and bathroom’s out back, Holmes.

2nd best dive bar in Tampa, right after Elmer’s on MacDill. You have to love a cash only bar that makes you get your own pitcher. Pool is only a quarter and a retro jukebox plays the beats. There’s one bug TV that I remember and it was tuned to Cartoon Network/adult swim, and I thought«This is my type of bar!» Only bad thing is it’s a smokers bar. It’s a good bar to watch the Buc’s at. It’s also a great bar to douche watch at. Watch as typical Hyde Park-ers meander in, and the regulars look pissed.

Tiny Tap was fantastic. Except when the bartender, a bit unsteady on her toes, forgot we had come in before an obnoxious sextet of «importer exporters,» and started ignoring us as though we were of their group. She came back to our side when they left, though. It’s a bit younger inside than I’d hoped, explaining the star demerit. A boy next to me who kept hugging another boy because they’d «survived» 4 years in Gainesville(they also planned to drive an hour inland, ripping drunk, to Winter Haven, to hang out there). The guy I really wanted to hear more from, a slight Japanese man who described in detail a recent surgery involving two stents, moved to the other side of the bar when a seat opened up. Thereafter, he accepted hugs from a progressively drunken parade of people of all ages and backgrounds, all of whom knew him, and many of whom had clearly worried during his convalescence. «For me,» he said, «the greatest thing is that I can now drink and smoke again.» Our bartender told us earnestly when we arrived that we’d better root for Juan Carlos Montoya to finish in the top 3 at Phoenix. There were 74 laps to go. By the time the race ended, she’d completely forgotten she had Juan Carlos Montoya in her NASCAR pool and had to be reminded.

Epitomizing«local dive» for nearly 50 years. Cheap drafts & cans, friendly folks, and The The on the juke. Like most watering holes in the neighborhood, it’s open ’til 3. If you’re ever in town, you really should pop in for an Icehouse. Oh, I said it. Somebody almost always has a beautiful bike out front. Ladies room is inside– bonus. Guys have to walk out back.
