Tropical Smoothie Cafe

I am officially done with any establishment run by such a foul, gross, horrid owner. He was so nasty to me and my family when we came in on Christmas Eve. As we walked into the most filthy grimy restaurant I have ever seen the indeed bald, fat owner screamed at us to go away, at noon?!? We walked into the restaurant assuming it was open as there was no sign indicating otherwise and he screamed go away we are closed! As he shoved us out the door he quickly locked it behind our backs. He could not have been more nasty or rude if he tried. For your own safety and well being stay away from this establishment and ex con owner!!!

My sister and I are from out of town and we were looking for a smoothie place after our jog. The atmosphere here was very relaxing even though it’s located downtown. The smoothies taste very fresh and refreshing. They don’t have that nasty fake powder taste that other places have in their smoothies. My sister got the Totally Green smoothie and it tasted very healthy while still being very delicious. My only issue is they only serve 24 oz size with all their smoothies.

No chicken at 1:40pm on a Sunday. The kitchen was filthy. They were supposed to close at 2pm and locked the door behind us at 1:40. Lights out by 1:50. We sat outside and the employees were out the door by 1:59, so I’m sure they cleaned the kitchen really well… not. It’s a good thing that we have a great TSC in my home town that my kids have worked at or I’d never go to another one.

Worst service. The mouth breathing staff located in the kitchen area couldn’t be bothered to even speak at us when we entered. After waiting 5 minutes to be noticed, I asked could we get service. All three of the half dead workers stared, mouth agape, and mumbled about the manager. He finally showed up to take our order, only after another half incoherent worker asked what we wanted. I don’t know who hired these people, and how they continue to stay employed. And just think, they want $ 15/​hr for this?

Worst case of food poisoning I ever encountered. From their garbage roast beef sandwich. Been suffering and with 103 fever for 4 days now, which conveniently started a few hours after I ate here. I used to go here a few times a week. Well never again. And I’m contacting the FDA. The suffering that I have gone through, and missing my fiancé’s graduation and other important events while being stuck home 4 days and counting is miserable. I NEVER get sick and all I eat is oatmeal for breakfast and home cooked healthy meals at dinner.

Possibly the rudest workers I’ve ever had to talk to. We walk in at 2:15, wait a while and a lady comes out and says we are closed… WHO CLOSES AT 2 IN THE AFTERNOON! I say the workers are rude because I was shocked that they were closed and said who closes at 2 and she says «we do».

Very disappointed. At the 4^th street location they have the avocolada smoothie for a limited time… That is the entire reason that we came here but they don’t make that one here. You also can’t get a wrap or the southwest chicken salad with the smoothie and a half deal. Very frustrating when you are accustomed to the 4^th street location in St Pete.

I Love Tropical Smoothie because it is not only delicious lunch or light dinner but is so healthy. They have locations in Brandon and Downtown Tampa. I love the Mango Magic and that is usually my go to smoothie on the run. I also like the kiwi Quencher and the Strawberry Limeade. I usually get a smoothie with the Turkey Bacon Ranch. Smoothie and half a sandwich. I also love to get a smoothie right after a run or a workout in the gym like the Island Green which is delish and good for recovery from working out.
The reason I rate it a 4 and not a 5 is that the shops have different owners and none of the programs are the same so you have to remember which shop gave you which reward card or is having a special and that just gets to be a bit much and to confusing.

The manager is funny and friendly! The smoothies are a great value at 24 oz. they’re only 4.29, and I’m a big fan of the Thai chicken wrap. Other good choices are the turkey guacamole sandwich and the king cease wrap

Best Tropical Smoothie Around! The employees are seriously the sweetest! They recognize their regular customers and make sure they are well taken care of.
Try the Peanut Paradise, so sooo good!

The wraps aren’t anything special but I do like the smoothies. Service is good and place is super spacious.

Conveniently located between hotels. I was staying in downtown Tampa for work and was not in the mood to pay $ 13 for eggs and bacon so I went outside and there it was right across from the Hilton. The restaurant is clean and the staff was very friendly. They don’t have any breakfast combos or specials. On the side of the register you can find several breakfast wraps. Blink and you’ll miss it.
I ordered a smoothie and a breakfast wrap. The smoothie was great and so was the wrap. However, the wrap was too small. If you are hungry I would go with one of their traditional lunch specials b/​c this will not fill you up.

My husband asked if he could use the bathroom while I was in a meeting in a building across the street. We were supposed to meet there once I got out. The owner (this big fat guy with a gold chain) t
old him they were for customers ONLY… So my husband explained we were about to be customers and order food as soon as I came down in 10 minutes. The man screamed at him and said «GET OUT! You are NOT a customer!!» and said that in front of another customer… Terrible customer service and humiliating experience. My husband said he felt stunned and told the man «why don’t I buy a cookie or something for now while I wait for her… or a smoothie?» the man screamed «GET OUT or I will call the police!!!» never have I witnessed such a scene from a grown man as I walked up to meet my husband… The man was out of control screaming obscenities! So sad and clearly ignorant. I will tell anyone and everyone of the experience we had here.

This place was a huge relief for my trip to Tampa!
Who knew, staying in the business district of downtown Tampa, also meant that you are limited to walking distance dining options. Whose idea was this?
Tropical Smoothie is much more than a place to grab a healthy liquid lunch, but they also have a huge menu of actual food items that are healthy and filling! Twice, I had the veggie wrap with hummus, and also twice, I had their strawberry/​lemonade smoothie. As I am typing this review, my mouth is watering for both. Not only is the food absolutely fab, but the staff are just as accommodating, but in a very cool sort of way. They weren’t all crazy in my face, but when I asked about nuts (I’m the crazy tree nut allergy girl that restaurants hate), I was reluctant to ask and actually apologized for being high-​maintenance. The staff went back and not only checked their own food interactions with nuts, but then checked the labels of the wrap and anything else that may come into contact with tree nuts. Score, I was able to eat what I wanted, anaphylaxis free and LOVED the s*%t out of my meal!

My first time in a Tropical Smoothie place, and while the décor was a bit run down, the service was great. I especially like that they give a nutritional breakdown on their foods if you’re on a restricted diet.
The food we ordered was tasty. They offer Breakfast and lunch as well as smoothies all day, so it makes for an easy to grab kind of meal.

I work downtown and usually don’t have a ton of time for lunch. Since the summer started all I seem to crave are smoothies though and this is the only smoothie place downtown (that I know of). They are usually pretty fast (call ahead if you can, it’s usually waiting for me in the small freezer at the register when I get there) and each smoothie I’ve gotten has been delicious.
They are pretty large though, I wish they sold an inbetween size. On their kid’s menu they have a banana chocolate smoothie that is delicious and the perfect size for a snack.
You can request any smoothie without sugar, which I recommend as the fruit content makes them plenty sweet. You can also sub the sugar for Splenda which I don’t recommend because that stuff is nasty.
The smoothies cost between $ 4-​$ 5 depending on the flavor (many of the «indulgent smoothies» are $ 5).
Their food is good too, I’ve gotten the thai wrap with extra veggies and they never mind when I sub out the meat. Join their «club» and get texts for half price smoothies each week.

We are fans of the Animal Planet show Tanked and truthfully only went there to see the aquarium that was featured on one of their shows. We all got smoothies while there, and they were delicious! We went for the fish, but we will definitely return for the smoothies!

Wow is this place good. Man oh man. A real gem in downtown tampa. Downside though. They close at 4. But they definitely have my vote. Awesome smoothies guys!

The sandwiches aren’t fabulous. But the smoothies are delicious. :)

I should have known better when asked whether I wanted sugar or splenda in my smoothie but it was early and it didn’t occur to me to say neither.
