Nothing remarkable. It’s your typical giant ice cream cone place. The ice creams was good. The benches were comfortable. It was a little busy but it made a nice little stop. I had vanilla with chocolate sauce. The bodies had a waffle cone with strawberry and vanilla ice cream. It was a nice little step back into time. No real complaints. An enjoyable treat.

Delicious soft serve! I had vanilla mixed with caramel and it really hit the spot. Their portions are HUGE so if you just want a taste, like I did, then I recommend the kiddie size. Friendly service and really inexpensive.

My husband and I have visited this location about 8– 10 times since it opened and about 4 of those times I’ve gotten sour ice cream(I usually order the sugar free vanilla). It seems like that’s the only ice cream that’s always sour because my husband has gotten other flavor and they taste just fine. I guess my concern is it they’re cleaning(the containers and faucet) and changing the ice cream regularly. I’m disappointed whenever I taste my ice cream and it’s sour. So I went back to twisted treat today 01÷17÷2016− and again my ice cream was sour. Two employees went on to tell me that the fact that the ice cream is sugar free makes the taste a little different(I.e giving it that sour taste). Like I stated before I’ve been there between 8 – 10 times(today makes 11) and of those total times I’ve had sour ice cream a few different time. So what you people are telling me is that you’ve either been giving me the wrong ice cream or you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. Never again twister treat.

Twistee Treat is my go-to preggo spot! Peanut butter soft serve makes my day! Quick drive through and always busy. Employees take orders in the drive through line to keep the pace moving. Everyone is friendly and efficient.

Best ice cream. Creamy and old fashioned with a delicious greedy waffle cone. Decent prices and quick service. It’s great for a date or just a regular treat. Highly recommend everyone try it. The only negative is the location is right on the road so the fumes can be much if u sit outside. It is also a bit tricky to navigate in sometimes.

If you love peanut butter I highly recommend trying their peanut butter ice cream! OMFG! It is AMAZING!!! I’ve always been a chocolate ice cream kinda girl, I’d feel ripped off if I didn’t have chocolate in some way. But one day I decided to be adventurous and try peanut butter ice cream at Twistee Treat and I’ve never turned back, at least not when going there. Anywhere else, it’s chocolate all the way! Their pb ice cream tastes like a spoonful right out of the jar, but it’s ice cream! Yum! My wife always gets a hot dog and a hot fudge sundae with peanut butter sauce & whipped cream. Delicious every time! The portion sizes are massive too! I order a small and it’s as big as a DQ large!

I like the big cone novelty of this place. But as far as the ice cream goes, it’s just kind of okay. Ordered two dipped cones and they were both barely dipped, you could see the ice cream through the dipped chocolate, that’s how thin it was, and it had holes in it, causing it to melt at a profuse rate. My tip to this place? Learn how to dip a cone properly. I’ll be going to DQ if I want a dipped cone again any time soon.

One Of my favorite ice cream shops I have found since moving to Florida. Love the old Fashion soft served ice cream and the flavors and tastes are so amazing! If your looking for a date night or a night out with kids after dinner or better yet that pit stop you take as a soccer mom for the team after a game this is your spot to go for that taste oh so good ice cream. I highly recommend this place and I’m sure you will not be disappointed. Happy eating!

Disappointed in this location. It wasn’t terrible as my children were good with their orders, but I’d rather go to the one nearest to my house, which is also brand new. I found out at the one on Sheldon that we can order premium flavors all the time, so I’ve been ordering pumpkin. Well, the kids and I were out and since«so nuts donuts»!is closed I told them there was a twistee around the corner. I ordered the pumpkin in a sugar kiddie cone, but instead they gave me a cake cone. The pumpkin wasn’t blended well in the ice cream, so the dark orange pumpkin flavoring areas of the ice cream cone was bitter. Another issue is the drive thru. A bit narrow on the turn after you order… not good for vehicles with rims.

Big selection… Reasonable prices… nice little picnic area to sit outside… they give your dog a nice little fat free vanilla cup with a treat which was nice… plus, the building is an ice cream cone. That counts as something!

So it’s the next best thing to Ted Drewes if it were in Tampa! The effort by the staff is commendable. Toppings are of good quality and plentiful. Good deal for the cost.

How can you not be instantly attracted to a building in the shape of a giant ice cream cone? What a smart marketing ploy! Now for the product. Amazingly smooth, creamy and delicious ice cream. I have 2 favorites. A cup of regular vanilla with chocolate sprinkles and the Ginornous ice cream taco dipped in chocolate sprinkles(notice a pattern here?) it’s so yummy and huge it usually last me 3 nights of dessert. But that takes a bit of will power. You can hit the drive thru here or sit at one of the outside tables. I’ve done both. This is a must visit. Especially on a warm sunny day or Balmy night :)

TL;DR — cheap ice cream that gets the job done I grew up eating at the old Twistee Treat in Town N’ Country so I was happy to see this new one pop up in Carrollwood. Not much has changed from their menu over the years from what I remember except for the addition of Nathan’s hotdogs. They still feature the same basic cones and sundaes that you’d find at any good ice cream shop. I got what I always get at every establishment that serves it: the Brownie Sundae. I was expecting a warm gooey brownie on the bottom of a pile of ice cream but what I actually got was a small cup with small bits of stale brownie sprinkled on top. Something was a little off with the ice cream itself. It could’ve been milkier or creamier but for about 4 dollars, I guess I can’t complain too much because it still satisfied my sweet tooth. There’s a lot better ice cream to be had in the area but not too many places will do it for this price and for that, I’ll be back when it gets warmer. Its closer to a 3.5 stars but no higher than that for me.

Twistee Treat feels like one of those classic Florida roadside attractions that’s been around since the 50’s. You know the ones that I’m talking about, with the giant dinosaur /donut /alligator by the side of the road beckoning the weary travelers to pull off the dusty highway and enjoy the free air conditioning? Twistee Treat is easy to spot with their iconic 20′ high and 20′ wide fiberglass ice cream cone buildings with the giant swirl of soft serve on top. This particular one is located on Fletcher Avenue, just one block east of Dale Mabry Highway in Carrollwood. It’s sits right at the entrance to Pei Wei fast-food Asian, Lowe’s, and the Mission Bell Car Wash. The Twistee Treat Corporation was founded in Orlando in the mid-80s, but they adhere to the old fashioned values of serving up the best ice cream experience possible. The menu is very straightforward. You can get the traditional Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, plus swirls, or go for the premium flavors like Caramel, Coconut, Cotton Candy, Peanut Butter, Mocha, Orange, Butter Pecan, White Chocolate, Pina Colada, Amaretto, Praline, Banana, German Chocolate, Black Cherry, Rum Raisin Cheesecake, Pistachio, or Black Raspberry. All of these flavors are 100% gluten free meaning that no glutens were harmed in the manufacture of this ice cream. You can also ask for any flavor in a light version, meaning no fat, and no sugar. You can get this soft-serve ice cream swirled into a cup or one of many varieties of waffle cones and sugar cones, and of course you can always add on the toppings which they call twirls. If you prefer shakes, malts, and sundaes that’s an option, as are brownie boats, banana splits, and waffle tacos. And if that’s still not enough you can order Nathan’s hot dogs and a soda. Twistee Treat offers convenient walk-up-to-the-cone window service with picnic table seating outside, or use their fast & friendly drive-up window service. It’s a nice change of pace to sit outside and enjoy a nice soft-serve cone on a warm afternoon.

What can anyone say about Twistee Treat? It is exactly what the name implies, but with more varriations. Personally and from observation over the years, I think the ½ &½ chocolate and vanilla cone is a best seller. Twistee Treat is all soft serve ice cream, made into bowls, sundaes… whatever you are in the mood for & still at reasonable prices. When the new one opened a few months back in Carrollwood, I was really suprise and delighted to see it. It is located off North Dale Mabry East on Fletcher Ave., less than a ¼ mile on the South side of the road. What can I say, it defiantly is not the best ice cream in town. When you see their building fashioned as a swirl top cone, it just makes you happy, like hearing an ice cream truck. It takes you back to a younger, simpler time of life & gives you that kid smile. Sorry those feeling can’t be bought, they are the very essence behind Twistee Treat and the reason I will lovingly continue to be a life long patron. Yes, some ice cream fanatics may want all the bells & whistles. This ice cream fanatic, wants the emotions and to watch others happy faces coming and going along with the ice cream and the«kid smile».

This is our«local» Twistee Treat and I eagerly watched the progress as the cone building went up and signs appeared about staffing. And then finally — grand opening! I grew up going to Twistee Treat with my grandparents and I’m thrilled to see the recent invasion of ice cream cone buildings is the same parent company, back and better than ever. Back in the day, Twistee Treat used to offer the usual flavors but always had a few lower fat fruit flavors on offer such as mango or raspberry. In this new incarnation, Twistee Treat has topped itself and now offers Premium flavors that can be mixed in with any of the standard flavors on offer. From the pictures on the website, I thought maybe the flavors were sprinkled on the outside or swirled on, but no — they have awesome little machines that can mix small batches and then extrude them in the classic soft serve swirl. The seasonal flavors look cool, but I’ve mostly gone with chocolate or choc/vanilla swirl. However, I did step out of my comfort zone on one visit and asked for black raspberry added to their chocolate. It was amazing! Intense raspberry flavors mixed consistently throughout delicious chocolatey love. Twistee Treat offers some light food options as well and we stopped by for a snack and a cone one afternoon after the zoo. Offering Nathan’s hotdogs, I was really impressed at the long list of free toppings available(the usual condiments, kraut, chili and cheese sauce). The hot dogs were good and are a great deal for the price if you like loading yours up. I am not usually a fan of being outside in Florida, but the outside seating area has been clean on each of our visits and the colorful tables, benches and chairs are all paired with umbrellas that provide excellent shade.

Just opened, great tasting REAL ice cream. You can taste the difference. Right next to Lowes, corner of N. Dale Mabry Hwy. Hot dogs too. A great little desert spot, easy in and out.

Brand new location off of Fletcher avenue in the plaza with Lowes, directly across the street from the plaza with the Fresh Market. Shaped like a huge ice cream cone so something is seriously wrong if you miss this place. As an ice cream addict, I’m shocked to have never heard of Twistee Treat before I stumbled upon this new shop. Expect a heavy crowd during the evenings, especially now as they’re still the new guys in town. Weekends are even more packed. Lots of high schoolers hanging around on Friday and Saturday nights. I asked about a «signature» offering, but there doesn’t seem to be just one thing that stands out which is a good thing. I went with a medium sized peanut butter twirl. Crap, it was huge! Big enough for two to share. Get a small, seriously! Anyway, the ice cream is homemade which is awesome and has always been the way of Twistee Treat. There’s not a «commercial» taste to it if that makes any sense. Very creamy and soft and the taste is pleasing to say the least, especially compared to other places. Peanut butter was blended in perfectly and wasn’t overly rich. Tasted fresh. It certainly contributed to the smooth texture of the ice cream. There IS a difference in taste between their ice cream and that of other joints so give this place a try, if you haven’t already. I ordered from the drive-thru and there was a young lady out there taking orders and kindly explaining some of the menu items to help expedite the process. It was a pretty busy night and it took maybe three minutes to get my order. Ate my ice cream in the car with my AC on as there were quite a few people outside(no indoor seating, by the way). Seating outside is limited and I can imagine it’d be a challenge to eat out during the summer months. Again, get a small(which really is large) because I couldn’t finish my medium sized cup! That may be a first.

My favorite ice cream chain from childhood opens in Carrollwood! Stopped in tonight and the delicious ice cream tastes just like it does at the St. Pete Beach location I grew up going to 20 years ago. I do miss the old school sign lol. This is a huge improvement over the nasty Checkers restaurant this used to be. They bulldozed that place and even added nice new seating and polished concrete. Place is nice and clean. Edit a few months later: you would not believe how busy this place is. They had to set up cones in the parking lot to create a longer line for the drive thru. I applaud the owner for taking the gamble to open up where Checkers failed; apparently there was a huge market for ice cream in Carrollwood and they must be raking in the cash.
