A friend recommended I try Zoysia grass. And he said it was a full year after planting before he noticed it starting to grow. So I ordered zoysia from Zoysia Farms 2 years ago and paid someone $ 300 to plant the plugs. The plugs I got also looked brown and dried up. But I read somewhere that this was normal so I didn’t worry about it. Well…2 years later and still no zoysia…

I have bought grass from this place now 4 – 6 years and yes when you get the grass it is a little brown, but water and taking care as soon as you get it is the key. I have a beautiful lawn. Now the plug idea does not work. The grass comes in sod ‘blocks’ of about 18″ x 30: long. I plant the grass in strips and let it grow together. Nurseries in this area do not have Zoysia, so this option has worked out fine

This is a real rip off. You don’t get plugs you get slabs of grass that is dormant according to them. Dad is more like it. They send you slabs it say there at 10×15 and should be cut into 150 plugs each. I didn’t have a single one that was 10×15. One was 8.5×12.5, another was 9×13, etc. some of the slabs were almost completely fallen apart. They do you put lines on the back where you’re supposed to cut and they have it so that you’re supposed to cut nine strips so I don’t know how they get there 10 inches wide. Complete false advertisement. There is no sign of growth to this point. I complained on Facebook at all I’ve gotten so far is them telling me I cut the plugs too big and that the grass is dormant. Even with pictures they don’t believe me.

The same day I wrote the review(below) I also responded to the Zoysia spam email and I got this response: «We sincerely regret that Amazoy, which has delighted so many thousands of people nationwide, has been unable to meet your needs at this time. We have removed you from our mailing list. Thank you. Lynn» I responded: I don’t know how many people who receive DEAD grass in the mail could have their ‘needs met’. I added my own 1 star review on Unilocal of your company to go with the other seven 1 star reviews. It appears I’m not alone in getting ripped off by Zoysia farms. If you’re going to take someone’s money, you’d better be prepared to deliver the advertised product. I still have the email from your company promising to send me new plugs. Never happened! Send this email to your manager or better yet — the owner of this possibly fake company.

If there were a ZERO stars, it would be appropriate for my experience. My story is pretty much a ditto for the other 1-star reviews. BEWARE-RIPOFF! Zoysia by mail is at the least IFFY, and my experience was a total waste, of both money and time! The $ 100 worth of sod and S/H arrived dead looking(«not unusual» according to ZF, uninterested staff), and NONE took hold. The cutting your own 1″ plugs is some sort of joke, right? As to keeping their guarantee, staff said I could get a replacement — not a believer in «doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results»(i.e., insanity!). Their«grass» is expensive, advertised as a bargain — «more bought, more saved». Don’t fall for it. $ 100 of garbage and precious wasted time! Better to patronize your local trustworthy garden shop! Oh, and the plugging device was already rusted out! Perhaps a return from another unhappy customer! No thanks, Zoysia Farms! A good idea gone bad, putting $$ in their pockets with a very very poor product! No wonder they are pretty much alone in that market!!! Tho they plaster their ads EVERYwhere! Shoulda told me something…

Forty seven days ago we planted Zoysia Farms grass plugs in our front yard. The company touts the grass as hardy and excellent for our southern California climate. The grass is shipped in 10“x15″ sheets that you are supposed to cut into 1″ squares yourself to plant in your yard. This is impossible. We ordered an $ 80 order with $ 17 ship charge. Upon arrival the 13 grass sheets appeared to be dead as it was already brown and had very little soil attached to it. When I contacted the nursery about this they told me to water properly for forty five days and we should have positive results. So for forty five days I wasted an incredible amount of time and water soaking this dead grass. Today it looks just as it did when we received it, DEAD! I contacted the company for a partial or full refund. They told me they do not give refunds but would replace the grass. I really do not want to spend countless hours replanting this crap. This is a terrible company to deal with. I highly suggest staying clear of their grass, it is useless and will cost you dearly. The following link will take you to reviews about this company. I only wish we had read them before we ever ordered…
