Upon visiting Taos we stopped for dinner. The food was amazing, the BBQ was tender and delicious and the steak was one of the best we ever tasted. All of the food was perfectly prepared. The staff was friendly and the owners were present and conscience. Definitely worth visiting.

I love Jeff’s Joint. It’s one of my favorite places to go in Taos. I lived in Texas for almost 20 yrs and I can honestly say I’ve never tasted any ribs as good there. The owner consistently makes sure everything is going great and you are a happy customer. If you have been there, whether you are local or visiting, I highly recommend that you go there for a meal. You will not be sorry.

We had a very pleasant dinner last night. The combo platter had 4 kinds of BBQ and the smoked flavor was very nice as were the sides of sweet potato fries, onion rings, cole slaw, and baked beans. Jeff came out and we had a fascinating discussion about his travels in South America photographing railroads. Food was good and prices very reasonable.

The whole roasted chicken is awesome! Best thing to order if you can wait a day. It’s our Sunday dinner. The brisket and pulled pork are also great and I’m a reformed vegetarian. Service is typical Taos slow, but food is worth it.

For $ 6.50, you can’t beat the grilled chicken sandwich with green chilies. The chicken was fresh and freshly grilled — tasted like a real charcoal grill. It was served on a fresh roll that was flavorful, not the typical sandwich bun. The sides were generous too. My BF had the potato salad — lots of onion flavor, not your standard premade stuff. I had the sweet potato fries and they were great. Give Jeff a try!

ok, the five star reviews for this place have got to be all friends of Jeff. We were traveling through Taos when we decided to stop and try someplace we had never been before. It was around 5 pm on a Saturday night and the parking lot for Jeff’s was nearly empty. This should have been our first sign! They had the Hispanic version of a tone deaf Don Hoe providing live entertainment with his Karaōke machine. He couldn’t carry a tune, but if you love Tiny Bubbles you might have been able to take it. This should have been the second sign! My wife then tried to order BBQ chicken. They were out of chicken was the waitress’ response. Maybe the dinner rush on a Saturday in Taos happens before 5 pm, which would explain this. Third sign? I then ordered the sausage platter with potato salad. They were out of potato salad, so the waitress recommend the cole slaw. Ok fine, neither my wife or I could order what we wanted but we kept pressing forward. The food arrived… My wife had ended up ordering pulled pork. It was obvious it had been sitting under a warmer for a long, long time. It was pretty much a puddle of flavorless pork. The sausage was ok, but rather bland and the BBQ sauce didn’t help much. I like sauce with a little attitude and this clearly didn’t have it. The cole slaw was made with mustard which was also not very appetizing. Maybe they were trying to make up for the lack of potato salad. The waitress came across as «not home». I wondered if Jeff’s «Joint» was referring to something else going on in the kitchen. Service was poor, food was bad, and atmosphere with Don Hoe horrid. Many better options are available in Taos. Don’t stop here.

Coleslaw was great. Beans were good too. Sweet potato fries were not bad either. Service was just fine, ambiance was whacko-wierd. Like a mixture of a failed Thai décor mixed with the lullaby of a supermax/mental institution what with the lions killing the hyenas television loop in the background. The beef ribs and baby backs were another story entirely. I am leaving one star because I didn’t come for salad sides, I’m a carnivorous sob and came down for some BBQ. Worst.Idea.Ever. The meat was dried out like old jerky, flavorless, and old. Maybe we got the leftovers from the day before, who knows, but what made it worse was what happened within the thirty minutes afterwards. Leaving his joint was a new beginning in carnal terror, the incessant clawing from within my digestive system was beginning to rush out of my bowels, as my fiancé and I watched through tear-glistening eyes, both of us were convinced we may not make it back in time before the BBQ seeped out of a newly created orifice.

I’ve known Jeff for years as an Engineer on the nearby Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad(just go ride it!). I’ve managed to try Jeff’s BBQ in three different ways, the first being out of a trailer that was set up nearby years ago. The second way was when he works as an engineer on the Cumbres and Toltec, where it was cooked on the backhead of the locomotive’s boiler during a climb up Cumbres Pass. His new location(a physical one at that) is the newest way I’ve sampled his fare. It’s strange eating the food I’ve had from him in such a nice location. He still cooks his meats outside over the grill(reminds me of Carne Asada joints in Tucson). I got the brisket, my girlfriend the pulled pork, or vice versa, as we both wanted what the other had along with what we had ordered.

Jeffs Joint has the best service and BBQ in Taos. We(family of 5) stopped in on Christmas night and received the best service we received the whole time in Taos. We stopped in before a movie on Christmas night. The wait was going to interfere with the movie schedule and there wasnt going to be anyone open after the movie was over. Now if anybody knows Taos during Christmas, everything is closed all day. So when we came upon a place that was open we were like HALLELUJAH. Stephane told us they would be closed when the movie was over, but she would make sure we get feed. SHESAIDSHEWOULDMAKESUREWEGOTFEED! I was thinking who does that. Who promises that anymore. She asked for my name, and told us to come back after our movie. After the movie was over we stopped back by. They were already closed, but when we walked in she remembered my name and was ready to take our order. So that was the experience with the Best Service. The next experience was with the food we ordered. We chose 2 full rack of ribs, The Potato Salad, Sweet potato Fries and 2 Full Salads. The Ribs were Damn good. They were juicy and not dry, with great color. I killed a whole Rack and was drooling over the rack my son was eating. I was a little disappointed in myself for not ordering more Potato Salad then I did, because it was the Great as well. Thanks Jeff’s Joint for a great experience.

This review is for the beginning of September 2011. My boyfriend and I stopped in Taos for a few days on a road trip. We tend to be night owls, and we wanted something cheap but quality(and open). Apparently that’s kind of hard to find in Taos, but Unilocal came to the rescue with Jeff’s Joint. This place was excellent! I think they’re just starting up, so we were the first ones in the door, and some others showed up later on. They let us have the awesome tubular booth in the back. The music was hilarious and fun, like a mixture of musicals(Feed The Birds from Mary Poppins), instrumental, and other things. My boyfriend got the ribs, and I got the pork sandwich. We also got salad, and I got a tea. Oh yeah, and wonderful sweet potato fries! They were so good we got an extra order to take home with us. Everything was tasty, a great value, and served to us with the utmost care. The whole atmosphere felt like a place you could be either casual or dressy, depending on your party’s mood. The bathroom was super nice and upscale too. It was our server’s first day, and we shook his hand. It was this awesome, giddy experience, and I felt like I was witnessing the birth of something great! Be bold, try something off the beaten path! You won’t be disappointed with this tasty and friendly place!

The owner is a part time engineer on the Cumbres Toltec Scenic Railroad. Much respect :) I got the«pork plate» for 10 bucks. Came with 2 sides. The potato salad was AWESOME! The baked beans were stellar, as well. The pork had major hickory/BBQ flavor. I got pretty full for 10 bones :) The owners wife makes some really good deserts too… Nice outdoor patio with music. Very chill. Would highly recommend…
