cute and nice little place, but often the wait time is absurdity crazy… my wife and baby just had to wait well over an hour for 4 items…

We really like Song’s Chinese in Taos. Have been 4 – 5 times with kids over the years. The staff is very friendly and the food is good. Though portion sizes on vegetable dishes are a bit small, and flavors were more muted than we remembered when we went last week. Kids look forward to coming here, and remember Taos as «the place with the Chinese restaurant».

This is a good place to go if you are missing the classic Chinese food from the big city. On the menu is also some Vietnamese and Thai style dishes which is a nice cultural change for Taos. Also the family who runs it are very nice. Definitely the place to go in Taos for Chinese.

I love Song’s — this is my go-to place for Chinese food in Taos. Ask Connie what she recommends — she often has specials that incorporate the best produce in season. The kung pao chicken, spicy eggplant, and egg rolls are sure bets. The food will please people who are picky about authentic Chinese food — like myself :)

Don’t forget this is a resort town, which means crowds at the same time, hungry tourists and you will probably never see this restaurant again. We arrived a little late and hungry, the one waitress was slammed. after waiting a bit for our Edamame, we flagged her down and asked if she could bring out some white rice for the kids. She was all to happy to rush our order. She notified us that the kitchen was backed up due to the amount of To-go orders that had been called in. when our food finally did arrive, it was delicious. we had the lo-mein, mogo guy pan and the Mongolia beef. Just be patient. She let us know that it was just her(the waitress) and her husband(the cook).

Delicious and fresh chinese food, good portions too! Specifically, I loved the chicken lo mein! They use chicken breast and thinly sliced vegetables. I’m Taiwanese and have eaten a lot of Chinese food in San Francisco and Los Angeles. This place had great chinese food! Visiting Taos for a conference. Had takeout from here.

Don’t let the visual of older building turn you away. The food and service is top notch. Wonderful husband and wife team working their business. She runs the front. He runs the back and together they have been in business for 6 years.

We stopped by Song’s on our visit to Taos, having no familiarity with the area. The restaurant didn’t show on our Unilocal search so we were a little leery of stopping in. I am so glad that we did!!! Our party of 5 ordered chicken and pork pot stickers, Pad Thai, Spicy Garlic Shrimp, Kung Pow Chicken, House Chow Fun, and Sweet and Sour Chicken. All the dishes were authentic and delicious… and for a car-full of foodies, that’s saying something. Our waitress was very personable, service was great, food was piping hot and out quickly. This will definitely be a stop whenever we are in Taos!

We arrived anticipating good stuff having eaten there once before. Walked in a waited five minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Finally seated, we got our waters and proceeded to wait again for anyone to help us.(Mind you there were only two other tables with people, one of which already had their food.) The waitress shows us and we ask for a sushi menu and she tells us they are not serving sushi today, which was the main reason we went to begin with. Sushi is their big seller promotion and they had none. To say the least, we left. Maybe we hit an off night but we will not be going there again.

Order from the seasonal specials menu! Boiled beef(I know, sounds gross), ramen with pork, or vegetables with red curry and add shrimp. I crave this stuff! Amazing with lovely owners.

We met one of the owners at breakfast and decided to try Song’s for dinner and a white rice fix. Dinner was delicious and priceworthy. I had fish filets with vegetables in a spicy garlic sauce and hubby had kung pao tofu and vegetables. Everything was cooked just right and serving sizes generous. We started with a vegetable sushi roll and spicy tuna roll. Both prepared well. The menu offers a number of dishes from non-Chinese Asian countries but y’all will have to try them and give us a post. Owners are a charming couple from China and have lots of restaurant experience. They try to buy locally and they adapt their dishes to what is in season. I’m from the San Francisco Bay Area, with many wonderful Asian restaurants, but I was really happy with this find. Décor needs a change but with more patronage I’m sure that will come.

Our experience at Songs was incredibly disappointing. My boyfriend and I live and work in Angel Fire, a tiny town with hardly anywhere to eat. If we want to go out for a «date night», we drive to Taos to have a nice dinner. We’d heard positive things about Songs from our coworkers and thought we’d try it out(unfortunately without checking it’s Unilocal reviews beforehand). We started with seaweed salad and edemame, which was delicious and bountiful. Our waitress was an older Asian woman who didn’t speak much English. We were honestly enjoying our time until she brought a pint glass for my beer to me. It had a huge weathered chip in it. Unphased, I moved it to the side. Bringing in the service industry ourselves, my partner and I both understand that mistakes happen and decided there was no harm, no foul. Our first roll(Rainbow roll) was decent, with the exception of the fish, which was almost frozen. Our waitress, who at this point we are convinced is a part owner or something, brings us two soy sauce dishes that are absolutely disgusting. Still covered in orange sauce and chipped at the sides. We again push them to the side, but mention our disappointment with the cleanliness of our dishes. Finally, we order a «Late Night Party Roll», which is THE single most disgusting roll I have ever seen in my life. It came out hot(and was not advertised hot on the menu). It was a simple roll, topped with melted cheese, scallops, crab and lobster. Thinking about this dish now still puts a sour taste in my mouth. I would go as far as to say it was inedible. We wave our waitress over and POLITELY express our distaste with the dish and ask her to take it back. She begins to explain that it was a very expensive dish to make(it cost $ 15.00), and that we had to pay for at least half of it. We hadn’t even asked her to take it off our bill yet, and we still had four rolls ordered. We were so offended that we reluctantly agreed to pay for half of our disgusting melted cheese sushi roll and asked for our bill. We left, feeling like we had been forced to waste our money at this restaurant. We decided to drive only ten minutes down the road to check out Sushi A La Hattori, and it was EXCEPTIONAL. By far, the best sushi we’ve had in the state of New Mexico. We happened to go on the day they had their fish delivered as well!

First, let me say that I have had very decent Chinese food here. Today I felt like Vietnamese Phở. The Phở that I’m used to is finely sliced filet mignon brisket or flank wih noodles and broth topped with fresh vegetables and sauces. Songs Phở is bland broth, cooked vegetables(broccoli, carrots, mushrooms and cabbage?) Stick with the Chinese food if you’re used to the real Phở.

Song’s is a great little place and one of the best values in Taos. Don’t take the complaints about the wait staff too seriously. The guy who prompted most of the complaints is long gone, because the owner doesn’t tolerate much mess. The food, on the other hand is quite good. Veggies always fresh, portions always large and the menu is huge, with a lot of Cantonese and a fair selection of of other Chinese, thai and even a few Vietnamese dishes. Sushi, too. Make sure you check out the specials. they are always good.

Our party ordered kung pao chicken with shrimp. Our chicken appeared to be underdone. We were told it was given its mushy status«from the marinade.» The three shrimp that came with the dish tasted fine, as did the vegetables. The waitstaff was INCREDIBLY rude. As in, they actually raised their voice at someone in our party. They were also inattentive and slow, bringing out our rice 10 minutes after our main dishes were served. Also, the restaurant was occasionally filled with a very loud and unidentifiable noise, probably originating from the heating system.

To start off, I recommend the spicy garlic dish with chicken, very good. Me and my bf decided to stop by since the reviews were good, I guess it’s the best in Taos. We ordered steamed dumplings, spicy garlic stir-fry and vegetarian soup. The dumplings were good but measly for $ 4, they were 6 shriveled little dumplings and they were warm, not hot. The spicy garlic dish was flavorful, no complaints on that one but the vegetarian soup was so plain. There was no flavor to the broth, I added soy sauce but it barely made it better. The waiter was not very attentive, we had to wait for her to come around more than once. It seems as though this place is building steam in Taos, while we were walking out, a family was walking in and asked us about the food and as we were driving out, there was another family that seemed like they were having trouble finding the parking lot.

We were the only ones in there for lunch and got great service. the food was delish! I ordered the orange chicken and got a really good fresh salad with it. Crab Rangoon is good too. Wide variety on the menu, Oriental music played in the background. Bathroom was a bit dirty.

Song’s is one of the few veg-friendly restaurants in Taos, with an entire page of vegetarian options that can be easily veganized, such as leaving the egg out of the Pad Thai with Tofu. The veggies are always fresh and perfectly prepared, and brown rice is usually available. For lunch the other day, we ordered the Vietnam Roll(veggies in rice paper — 2 for $ 3.95), Seaweed Salad from the sushi bar(my favorite), Family Tofu(veggies and tofu in a spicy garlic sauce — $ 5.95 on the lunch menu), Tai Tofu(a wonderful red curry — $ 8.50 off the dinner menu), and brown rice. Everything was delicious, and although we took some of it home with us, we also ordered the Sesame Balls(sweet red bean paste in rice flour dough, rolled in sesame seeds and lightly deep fried. 6 for $ 3) for dessert. A wonderful little treat to go with the rest of our jasmine tea. Service at Song’s is always friendly, if sometimes a little bit slow, and it seems the husband/wife owners are always there, and happy to accommodate my strange vegan requests. Be aware of possible language barriers with some of the servers though, and be sure to ask clearly for exactly what you want. My only complaint would be about the restroom. The building is old, and the bathroom is in serious need of updating. The sink was clean however, and there was soap and plenty of paper towels. I suspect it’s a landlord issue rather than neglect on the restaurant owners’ part. Song’s is a favorite of Taos locals who are in need of something other than southwest fare. Situated in a strange, glass fronted building across the street from Albertson’s, it’s easy for visitors to overlook. But if you venture in, you’ll find some of the best Asian food in town. It’s a nice break from all the«red or green» you normally find on a trip to New Mexico.

A pleasant find in Taos! I was visiting a couple weeks ago with my sister and BFF, and remembered a Chinese restaurant on Paseo del Pueblo Sur that we(my BFF) and I had walked to one night when visiting several years earlier. We drove to the general vicinity of the restaurant, but didn’t find it, and instead found Song’s within a few blocks of where we were looking. We were seated right away, and our waitress was really funny and seemed a bit flighty, but she was totally efficient. She suggested the Warrior’s chicken, which I did end up ordering, in addition to 2 pieces of spicy scallop nigiri. OMG, the sushi was delicious, the scallops were sweet and fresh, and the spicy sauce was wonderful. We shared an order of veggie egg rolls, and were surprised by how fresh everything tasted — we could really discern the different flavors of the veggies, when usually egg roll filling is a big mushy single flavored food(just«egg roll»). My sister had veggie pad thai, my friend had a chicken dish that I forget the name of, and as I said, I had the Warrior chicken. Very spicy and tasty, the servings were so big we all took more than half our food to go. When paying our bill, we were assisted by a cute little boy between maybe 9 to 11 years old(owner’s son?) and he was AWESOME. He ran the credit card and entered everything like a pro, and he was completely professional with us. I loved him and wanted to take him home, if not for the fact that I don’t want kids. But seriously, he was awesome, and so was the food.
