Hunted with USO several years ago. We hunted the Johnson Ranch outside of Taos. USO lied to us about the size of the ranch… it was far too small to accommodate the number of hunters in camp. On the 3rd day of the hunt the ranchers kids came into camp with a bunch of dogs to take down a cow fence in preparation for winter. We watched as the dogs chased elk off of the property. We didn’t see or hear a single animal after that. The food was inedible and I ended up cooking for everyone in camp for 2 nights. When we went back to the USO headquarters after breaking camp I reported all of the above to George Taulman. He was very arrogant and he refused to do anything to address our concerns. I wrote a letter reiterating our concerns after we got home and it went unanswered. USO epitomizes everything that is wrong with the outfitting business. Do yourself a favor and avoid them. There are plenty of honest, hard working outfitters out there. Use one of them!

Have hunted the same Arizona unit with USO camped down the road. Most un– professional bunch that we had ever seen. USO guides did not know where the animals were so George flies the unit during the hunt and radio’s his guides where the animals are. We were quietly listening for elk bugles at 4 am one morning, one of the USO guides Travis pulls up in his loud diesel ford, lets it idle while trying to discourage us from hunting that area. We had scouted that area, were there, Travis pulls up jumps out and starts TRYING to giving us a hard time. USO is about as non-professional as a bunch of so called guides can get. Example: USO had a client tag an elk, when they went to retrieve it they could not find it, half the time they are lost, they do not know the hunt units. They can be successful because George(the boss) flies the units during the hunt to find the animals for his guides.(well documented).

New Mexico elk hunt. You could do better yourself. The only positive about this outfitter is the food and the accomadations. The knowledge of the guides is very, very sub par. I was left at a water hole for 12 – 16 hours per day behind a ground blind my ‘guide’ built. Nothing came into the water. My guide was not affraid to smoke marijuana driving down the road and bashing the other guides. Very unprofessional.
