Hands down, the best variety, quality, and affordability of any Asian restaurant in Taos.

We have a family of 5 and have been coming to Taos for over 30 years and just now discovered this gem! Great service, great food, great portions. We are big soup people and the hot and sour is fantastic! We are definitely coming back!

We are lucky to have Yu Garden in TAOS. It’s affordable, tasty, and fast service. The proprietor Amanda and her husband strive to provide all of the above. All of the items we’ve tried are at least 3 – 5 stars depending on your personal preferences. They also offer sake and sushi. Not bad for a small town.

Great quality and even better portion sizes. Not to mention affordable. If you’re in Taos and in the mood for Chinese, this is the place!

The orange beef was the best I’ve ever had. A hole in the wall, but delicious food. The tofu and vegetables soup was also fantastic.

Showed up at 8:30 and was told there was to go food only. The restaurant was packed. Can’t speak to anything other than the fact that you should close at 8:30 instead of 9 of you don’t want guests after a certain time. Disappointment.

We dined here yesterday, attracted by the 4star Unilocal rating. Pros: –got seated immediately, no wait for table — friendly staff and owner — cheap pricing Cons: — warm dining room, cooler outside — long wait for food, almost 1 hr — edible Chinese food. Broccoli in the broccoli beef was almost raw, the seafood combo was bland full of fake scallops and fake crab meat but contained few authentic crab legs and 4 mussels and 5 shrimps, lots of veggies Summary: go here if you just want to quench your hunger and no other options. Note: reviewer is from San Francisco Bay Area where we’re fortunate to have excellent restaurants

Five of us ordered five dishes to share family style. There was a mix-up with dishes with our order and that of a nearby table. It wasn’t a big deal — we actually wound up with six dishes, we didn’t have to pay for the extra one delivered by mistake. We all enjoyed the food. Even with an extra entrée, there wasn’t enough food leftover to get a take-home box. Our waitress was friendly and welcoming.

We had the spicy eggplant. The vegetable were cut too large. More difficult to eat. But the flavors were delicious. A sweet spicy flavor. Service was friendly and prompt. We recommend this comfortable good Chinese restaurant. Thanks for reading. The Bike Chaplain

I took some visiting friends from China here to lunch. The next day they asked to go back for dinner. Need I say more?

Mushu pork was fantastic, tortillas a little dry, but definitely worth it. Maybe best Asian food I’ve had in America — I’ve had a lot! Chicken fried rice pretty bland, but alright Had a tuna sushi roll — horrible and bland — other sushi looked better but didn’t try it Service was pretty bad and inattentive Despite all this, it was really good and I do recommend it

Average food. My Dad was happy with his General Tso’s chicken which appeared to be ONLY chicken; however, my fried rice was bland and lacking any flavor — soy, sesame, green onion or otherwise.

So my boyfriend and I headed over to Yu Garden after reading its stunning Unilocal reviews, but were unfortunately rather underwhelmed. The food was actually pretty good, but the service was surprisingly lacking — I don’t know if we caught them on an off day or what? Firstly, they were obviously understaffed, so I was able to sympathize with that. There was essentially this one tall, dark-haired, skinny guy running around to every table, looking pretty stressed out. Thing is, he began by pulling up a chair and sitting at our table when taking our order. maybe this is a progressive waiting style? Okay, cool, I’m fine with that, I guess. Next, he brings us a pretty limited menu, primarily consisting of Bento Box options. When he returns to take our order, he only then informs us that they do not serve any Bento Box options on Sundays, and he was not the least bit apologetic about it. Why would you distribute a menu that’s essentially void for that day and not inform the customer? Anyhow, my order comes in after my boyfriend’s and I ask if I could please have a pair of chopsticks. I realize he was busy, but it became apparent after awhile that he’d completely forgotten about me, so I asked the busboy and he got some for me right away. My boyfriend was already done with his meal by this point, and I was about halfway through mine, obviously still eating, and the waiter approaches me asking to box my food. To make matters worse, my boyfriend had diarrhea the rest of the evening after ordering the orange chicken =/ I don’t doubt that this is a pretty reputable establishment given their strong reviews, and I do think that perhaps we just caught them on an off day? Maybe this waiter is new, but he could use some improvement or they could also hire more servers.

After a full day of driving from Flagstaff, AZ, I was not in the mood to go searching for food. Yu Garden was literally next door to the hotel, although it was close to 8 on a Sunday night the staff was very inviting, after perusing through the menu we settled on a few things. Beef vegetable, shrimp fried rice, miso soup, egg drop soup, and Taos sushi roll! Yummy! Quick service! Large portions, big enough for a family of 3, for sure! Will definitely share my experience with others. Mahalo nui Loa!

I love this authentic Asian eatery! The staff alone makes this an awesome restaurant for ambience and the food is delicious. What began as a Christmas sabbatical in Taos quickly evolved into a snowed-in situation so I ate here several times. I’m a recent widow and eating out alone is slightly depressing for me but the family oriented staff was so welcoming. My favorite dish the Shrimp & Walnuts in Orange sauce. Also the Teriyaki beef. Oh and the Hot Cooking Seafood Pot. Just go!

I am the only Asian at this Chinese restaurant. Same as last night at the Japanese restaurant. Weird. Anyway, food is good for non-Asians, the portion is big and the price is reasonable. The restaurant is clean and the waitresses are nice. I am going to give it 4 stars. BUT honestly as a native Taiwanese, the food is so so to me. I probably won’t eat there again. I am so happy that I am going back home to California tomorrow. Yay!

I really wanted some vegetables after five days of New Mexican food. This place got high marks on Unilocal,so I figured«how bad could it be?» We arrived around 5:30pm, and there were only a couple of tables occupied– yes, we were«early birds». The place is small, has a typical strip center feel, but its not off-putting. Soon we were greeted by Amy, who was very helpful, quick, and personable. This sit the kind of person you want working the front of the house if you have a restaurant. She knows how to make people feel welcome, valued. She will generate return business. Moving on to the food– we ordered a vegetable platter, and Orange Chicken, and up-sized them both with the full meal deal(see back page of menu). We each had a bowl of soup– hot and sour and egg drop, both excellent, followed by wanton, fried shrimp and egg rolls. Again, all were excellent. I could eat a mess of that shrimp! The entrees arrived timely, and hot. Both were excellent. The Orange chicken had small strips of orange peel — perfect! Could have used a few more pepper pods. Throughout, Amy continued to check on us, fill our request for chili sauce, water, etc… Soon the owner(one of the owners? I am not sure) who goes by Amanda came to check on us. She is Asian– Chinese I am betting– and is also personable. She wanted to know how we heard about Yu Garden, and I showed her Unilocal on my phone. She was amused to read through some of the reviews, as I guess she was unaware of Unilocal. She pointed out she had a certificate of recognition from Trip Adviser. She also told us she started in Angel Fire, but it was too seasonal there. Business is good for her here. I am so glad, as I typically eat Chinese, Thai, or some sort of Asian at least once a week, and I needed a fix. I expect to return before this trip is over, and I suggest you give it a try. I cant go 5 stars just because of the atmosphere being a bit stark, sterile, and could have been a bit cleaner– which has to be difficult in Taos for sure, it is so rustic here and your always trudging through dirt and gravel wherever you go.
