SEC Pest Control & Termite

This pest control company has HORRIBLE customer service and HORRIBLE response time. We asked if the bait/​bait houses were dangerous to our dogs… tech said no… «the baits are sealed in the houses and the dogs can’t get to them». So… either the rat bait houses were used incorrectly by their technician or they don’t work properly. The rats were able to get the bait cakes out of the bait houses and leave them in the yard. My tiny chihuahua found one and ate some of it. So after finding it in her stool Sunday night I had to get her to the vet Monday … I was terrified my baby could die. While she was at the vet, the nurse called the pest control company twice with no response. I had to call almost threatening them to get the owner to respond to my vets office. We finally learned that the poison is the slow release kind and therefore we would need to buy a month supply of the VitK pills for me to administer thru Jun 16^th. Plus we can’t allow the pups to rough house, get bruised, and have to watch their gums and stool for blood (and worry) till the vet says they are «out of the woods».
Here’s what we’ve learned from this terrible experience…
Rat poison interferes with the production of blood clotting factors, and three to five days after ingesting, dogs will start to bleed into different body cavities. Without intensive care including a plasma transfusion, it is often fatal.
To treat a dog who has eaten rat poison, a veterinarian will:
1. Induce vomiting within two hours (ideally at a veterinary hospital, but you can do it at home with several teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide).
2. Start treatment with vitamin K, 5 mg per kg of body weight, twice a day for three weeks or longer.
3. If later than two hours, but less than 12 hours, give activated charcoal to help prevent absorption of the rat poison.
4. If more than two days after ingestion, check clotting times and give a plasma transfusion which contains clotting factors in addition to starting on vitamin K.
5. In some critical cases, intravenous fluids and other supportive care including blood transfusions may be required.
So I’m giving vitamin K to 3 dogs (for 30 days since the rat poison is slow releasing) after all three went to the vet for a day of intensive treatment. $ 350 dollars later and constant worry that the poison might still affect them… I’m here to tell you all to close up any possible entry points to your home and place out humane traps for the rodents instead of using baits that could cause harm to pets and other animals around your home.
In reference to SEC… it’s been over a week since I’ve had to shell out money I don’t have for a vet bill that could have been avoided with proper warning and education. I’ve emailed and left messages for the owner of this business asking him to be a decent person and refund some of my costs associated. I have YET to hear back from this guy and am getting angrier and angrier by the day. Not a way to build a good customer base, dude! REFUND MY MONEY! At least the tech is scheduled to come by the house today so we can get rid of the bait houses entirely. But even still, we can NEVER again let our dogs in our yard off leash for fear of them finding another loose bait cake.

Update: Changed from HATED to DISLIKED … After a number of messages and an email, I finally got a call back (after threatening doing charge back thru my credit card) from the owner who said he will refund me half my money. I will update again when I receive that credit (or if I don’t).

March 28, we were walking our daughter’s dog. At corner of Bayshore and San Jose, dog had grabbed something from grass between sidewalk and curb (along north side ofSan). I tried to stop her and see what it was, but too late noticed teal green bits on sides of her mouth. Just then, my wife spotted a cube, teal green with seed looking things on the ground a couple feet away and we saw one in street that had been run over. Luckily the home owner was home, and said this company had been there 2 days earlier to put out a rat poison box. He cut open the black box and found it was empty. So either the company worker had spilled cubes while loading the box or they fell out of the box. We rushed home, checked on line and confirmed the cubes were indeed rat poison. We then gave the dog salt water, and hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting, then left for emergency vet. The dog vomited in car on the way, then the vet induced more vomiting and gave her a shot of vit K to counteract the poison’s effects. At any rate, the dog was fine, and the bill
was over $ 300. The home tried contacting the company about the situation — no response and no one came to get the box. He didn’t pay them any money (they were supposed to come back to check it). Wouldn’t use this company if you are looking.

Very disappointed with this company. Had them come out to spray for ants and we actually now have even more ants in the house than before. Called them to follow up and they refuse to come back out. For all we know, they could have been spraying water around the house. Buyer beware!

What a mistake. I have been awaiting a call back from this company for 30 plus days. They took my check for 750.00 however never gave me a contract as discussed. I have called the office 6x and asked for a call back and still nothing. emailed 3x still nothing. RUN RUN RUN RUN… BAD BUSINESS. I will update this IF I hear anything back. By the way the web site says 100% satisfaction guarantee that’s not the case!
