Hair on the Hudson

Ok so i recently moved in to this area! I checked this hair salon on Unilocal.Very encouraging reviews! And my experience was beyond amazing! Karina is the best! She is super friendly, knows her stuff real well! Did color, highlights and haircut. It was a real nice make over for a new lady in the area!

Ps– she even called a cab for me!

Went in to get my bangs cut and Donna took me right away. She did a great arched bang and I’m very happy. She didn’t even charge me! This was my first time here and I will definitely be back for cut and color.

Best haircut I’ve had in many years; possibly one of the best I’ve ever had. Venera is fantastic! I have very challenging curly, fine, fragile hair. I’d been growing it out for years but it wasn’t going well and it was a big mess. Venera spent time with me before the cut, discussing my hair, listening to my concerns and visions, and giving me great advice about what might or might not work well with my hair. She looked at the photos I brought, gave some great advice, and together we decided on a good approach.
And then… magic.
The cut is so much better than I’d ever hoped for. We have a plan for what this style can be in the future, after I grow out my bangs more, and I can’t wait! I’m so thrilled that I found Venera. I found her by reading reviews on Unilocal,so I thought it was only fair that I add one myself. Thanks to everyone here that recommended her! She’s very talented!

Ask for Angela — you won’t regret it! I was referred to Angela by a close friend and I’m so happy I tried her out. I was looking to get a haircut for the summer but I wasn’t sure what I wanted. Angela spent the time to explain what would look good and compliment my face. She did angles and long layers and the result is awesome! I couldn’t be happier with my haircut and I will definitely be back.

I got my hair cut by Angela and she is excellent! I wasn’t sure on what style I wanted so she gave me pros and cons of each and really helped me figure out what I wanted. I loved that she tried so hard to give me a haircut that I was going to love. Which I do! I’m definitely going back.

I liked the first cut, and the people take care and are nice, yet when I went back I asked for my hair out of my face. The woman cut it in the same way, so it was still in my face! Then, she charged more, and couldn’t find my name in the book! Rather lackluster!

Haircuts used to be a complete chore for me — I dreaded getting my hair cut. Then, I found Joe at Hair on the Hudson! Ever since, I look forward to getting my hair cut! I go in with a general sense for what I want, tell Joe and let him do his thing. Everytime my hair comes out looking even better than I expected it to. He’s super talented, and one of the nicest people ever! I highly recommend either going to Joe or seeing any one of the other talented stylists there.
PS there is an added bonus that while you get your hair washed you are sitting in a massage chair ;)

i looked at the other reviews & thought let me give it a try. I was visiting from NYC. I had an awesome cut. Angela. She was awesome. She did EXACTLY what i asked. She was really sweet. She also gave me some suggestions which i appreciated.
The place is lovely, everyone there was super friendly & i just absolutely loved my cut. I did a medium bob, my hair was long (mid-​back), price was great. I would come back!

Venera gives a great blowout. Wouldn’t do anything else there, though.

I have to say, I am so particular about my hair, what woman isn’t right? BUT, nonetheless, I just lost my hairstylist as she moved to another state, and I was long overdue for a cut and color. I just couldn’t bring myself to do a trial and error with a new person. I decided to ask a gal at my gym who’s hair I always like, and she recommended me to Angela at Hair on Hudson. I’m so glad I asked! When I arrived for my appointment I was greeted warmly by the staff, and Angela put me immediately at ease! She’s so nice, and friendly, and really took the time to listen to what I wanted, and what I DIDN’T like. So many hairstylists are so busy giving you their opinions right off the bat. She gave me a great cut, and together we decided on a wonderful new tone of color, I love it! I got so many compliments on it! The salon is very inviting, and easy to get to. I truly enjoyed myself, Angela is terrific, very amicable, and professional. I’m so glad I made the choice to make her my new stylist.

Wow — just left this place after reading their fantastic Unilocal reviews and I’m so glad I went in! Best haircut I’ve had in a long time; Donna did a fantastic job. Not only that but they are so welcoming and friendly I felt like I’d been going there for years. Will absolutely be making this my new go-​to spot in the area!

This was the second time I got a haircut at Hair on the Hudson. I am new to the area and was referred by a friend that has been seeing Donna since she was a teenager. I had some time this past Saturday and called just to see if they had an appointment available. They were so accommodating (on a Saturday, at that). Joe and Donna were so sweet and welcoming. Joe took my scattered thoughts as to what I wanted and gave me an absolutely beautiful haircut. It is literally the best haircut I have ever gotten. Okay… I know this seems like a bold statement. But I have received so many compliments on the cut and I’ve been telling everyone to go see him!

I’ve been coming to Hair on the Hudson for a little over a year to get my hair cut. I have never gotten more compliments on my hair in my life than I have in this past year since I’ve been going there. I’ve been stopped on the street by strangers about my hair more than once. I’ve gotten stellar cuts from both Joe and Donna. I’ll show Joe a couple photos and say «some sort of combination of all this» and he’s always spot on. I personally keep my hair super short but I’ve also seen some great long cuts while there.
Everyone I’ve encountered there is friendly, professional and good at what they do. Their prices are reasonable, especially for the area. Other salons I’ve been to have scolded me for dyeing my own hair (I like to do funky colors) but they’ve never pushed additional services on me at Hair on the Hudson. They remember their return customers. I don’t have a bad word to say about the place.

Again, Venera is AMAZING. I think she’s given me the best color of my life. She is like a magician! And she is so sweet. I love this place SO much.

Amazing hair saloon, I get my hair done by Venerra and she has always done an amazing job.
There prices are very very reasonable, cheap compared to other hair saloons in the area, but the saloon itself is beautiful, the service is amazing, and the owners and employees are all extremely hospitable. I will certainly continue to go here.

I was driving from Manhattan to the area of Tarrytown and Unilocaled a good haircutting place. Hair on the Hudson had the best reviews, so I thought I’d check it out.
I wasn’t disappointed. Parking was easy. The people there were very friendly and the price was right – especially compared to Manhattan. Definitely check this place out. I actually think I will drive here from Manhattan for haircuts from now on.
PS. They even have water for your dog.
