Jean Jacques is a true master. There isn’t technique he hasn’t seen or done unless he came up with it messing around with one of his students. There are few people on this planet that know and understand Brazilian Jiu Jitsu the way he does.

At this academy there is no «easy way out»
Everyone at this place is tough. You scan the room and decide to pick a «lower» level belt to roll easy with… good luck with that.
Jean Jacques himself is incredible. I’ve been training here for 11 years and have never once seen anyone submit him!
It’s a rarity to have someone who can teach and compete and be a master at both… in anything really.
The leader is good so he produces good people! When you train here and then go to other academies or tourneys you do well.
That’s the proof!

After a long hiatus, It’s nice to be back training at JJMachado. If your interested in BJJ or already training in the art then I highly recommend you give JJMachado’s a try. You won’t be disappointed.

World class jiu jitsu. Jean Jacques’ life is jiu jitsu and he doesn’t hesitate to share every bit of it with you if you step on his blue mats. One thing I value deeply about his instruction is that he takes the time to see his students’ progress and development through each belt. This way, he knows just the right thing to say to you when you need instruction. This quality translates seamlessly into his Black belt students whom he entrusts with instruction. Each class will likely have five to ten plus Black belts on the mat. Every round is like a semi-​private class that way!
The facility is spacious and the ceiling is high. The end of the year in-​house tournament draws a lot of people in and the academy donates a truckload of toys to children in need every year. Located conveniently by the 101 freeway, it isn’t difficult to get to the academy no matter where you’re commuting from. It is common to have at least a few visitors training here visiting from overseas. The kids’ program has grown tremendously over the past few years and keeps getting better.

Amazing place to train. Jean Jacques is truely a master of BJJ and an amazing instructor. It has a big mat space where you can train alongside champion competitors to a hobbyist. Everyone is friendly but trains hard. If you live in the SFV, you need to check out this academy.

This place has been home for the past 3yrs. My closet friends I’ve met here and the happiest memories I have are often related to the academy. Jean Jacques is jiujitsu royalty and his stardom and fame doesn’t ever make him feel unapproachable.

Great place to train. I’ve been training here for a 4 years now, it’s been awesome. A huge wealth of knowledge with Jean Jacques Machado and his many black belts. Great training partners pushing you to do your best Jiu Jitsu. All I can say is come and try it out. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I haven’t been back the JJ studio for a few years but as teenager and young adult I learned more life lessons here then anywhere else. I have been a student of Jean Jacques for over 15 years. I also live almost 50 miles away from his school. There is a reason for why I make that drive and remain so fiercely loyal to him and his academy, especially today when there are so many schools opening in the SFV and LA areas. First off, he is one of the legends of Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu. A decorated champion, he is also hands down one of the finest instructors in the world. He is also one of the nicest, most humble and approachable people you will ever meet. I believe this is why his academy is not only full of high level students (average 6 – 10 Black Belts per class) but also fosters a very supportive learning environment. Everyone is there to train hard but also learn from one another. Jean Jacques is a constant presence at the academy and works hard to make sure all his students reach their own personal training goals. I have been fortunate to win a number of tournament titles at the Black Belt level and I attribute all of my success to Jean Jacques and my teammates. Champions are made here!

I’ve been a student at Jean Jacques Machado for the past three years. I cannot say enough about the caliber of talent and wide range of students that train here day in and day out. Professor Jean Jacques Machado, who this year received his RED/​BLACK belt from Professor Rickson Gracie, and was voted Coach of the Year 2011 by Black Belt Magazine, teaches the majority of classes passing along his talent to both champions and novices alike. I do not think I would have become a purple belt PanAm champion if not for the technical instruction of my professor, having him in my corner during my fights, and the fact that even as a white belt, I had the privilege to train with students at all belt levels, from third degree black belts on down.
A teacher can make you love or hate a sport. I’m loving my jiu jitsu, which says a lot about my teacher.

I’ve been training here almost 2 years. The academy is always clean. Everyone is easy going and there is always a good vibe there. There’s such a wide diversity of people to roll with that you always get good training in. It’s not uncommon to have 6 or 7 black belts on the mat. JJ is known as one of the most technical grapplers in the world and it shows. If you haven’t heard of him, you better ask somebody! If you live anywhere in the area, I highly recommend checking out our academy. It will change your life.

I had to leave JJ Machado a few months ago for financial reasons (I moved, started a new job, and the price/​commute was a bit rough on my budget) and it was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. I absolutely love this place. Jean Jacques is world-​renown, and I felt so lucky and honored to have trained for almost a year with him. He’s super down to earth, always willing to help, and just an over-​all good guy. The people there are well rounded, friendly, and also willing to help. Whichever class you go to (mornings, evening, weekends) chances are you’ll have plenty of parters to roll with in viritually every shape, size and belt.
It’s a bit on the pricey side, so, if you can afford it, definitely go for it. Hands down one of the best academies I’ve trained at.

Jean Jacques is considered one of the best if not the best technical grappler ever. The reason is because he was born without four fingers on his left hand and still went on to win a ton of tournaments. His school is clean, the instruction is clear and you can actually ask him the questions as he teaches most classes. The other students are always nice and answer questions, no matter how dumb.
Jean Jacques is very inspiring and never complains but is always grateful…
