Robin Sera, DDS

I am a 69 old male, with a lot of dental history. I just had a very positive experience. Recently my dentist of about 35 years retired, and was looking for a good replacement. My implant surgeon recommended Dr Sera, so I called her office, I was in next day, beautiful office, I was in within minutes. She is absolutely professional, took her time, listened to me. Good hands, very caring, knowledgeable. The staff is exceptionally good, Kathy cleaned my teeth, I actually liked it. Debbie at the front desk is very pleasant, efficient. I can’t imagine to have a better dentist. I couldn’t find anything to complain about at all. I see some guy complained about the payment, well I guess you need to pay the dentist in time.1 star for that? I really know what is a good or bad dentist, I have a lot of experience.

OK. First and foremost as one can read from the other reviews Dr Sera Is a very good thoughtful dentist not to mention an awesome, kind person. Unfortunately, the person that runs her front office needs an ethics lesson. Myself, my wife and our three children have been patients for over 20 years. My mother, sister, and my sisters family are also patients and have been for decades. I recently broke a molar and left a message that I needed an appointment ASAP. The office person called me back, and without having any idea about the severity of my condition or the pain I was in told me I had an open balance from work my wife had done a few months ago and wanted to know when i was going to pay it before addressing the fact that i had shattered a molar and felt like I had glass in my mouth. Dr Sera’s office has always been paid even when i was broke and uninsured. The payments have been late at times, but ultimately, have been paid. Not to mention this is the only time I’ve called them in duress in two decades for any sort of emergency appointment. NOT cool. This office will not see a red cent from me or my insurance company as long as this person is employed there.

I changed my insurance to go to Dr Sera. I really don’t know if I can make a stronger statement than that bit of truth.
I’m a transplant from the East Coast and — well, after getting dental insurance — was a bit lost on where to go for care. Asking friends generally led me no where. No one seemed too happy with their dentist. … unfortunately years past. Finally, when enough was enough and I was ready to go anywhere, I asked my boss where her family went and she recommended Dr Sera. Unfortunately, she was out-​of-​network for me at the time, but I was desperate — I went anyway. Copays be damned.
Dr Sera and her staff are very kind, understanding, and gentle. Almost absurdly so. The first cleaning — the first in 4+ years — was no big deal. The cavities (come on, it was 4 years! its going to happen!) were also painless. I have my 6 month cleaning coming up in a couple weeks and I don’t dread it one bit.
When open enrollment came around again, it was a no brainer to change my plan to be the one that included her in the network.
I would recommend everyone go to Dr Sera, without hesitation.
Honestly, going to the dentist has moved below getting a haircut in the list of things I hate to do… … but that might be my own quirk there.

Dr. Sera is the type of dentist that scares you into good oral hygiene. I mean, I have to brush first thing in the morning and use my tongue scraper or I feel subhuman and disgusting, and I take pleasure in flossing and freeing bits of food from the grasp of my chompers, but I don’t exactly have a fervor for keeping my teeth pretty-​they never really were and I don’t expect much of them as a result.
But Dr. Sera just isn’t having any of that. She’s a kind dentist, don’t get me wrong, she is just very adamant about dental care and isn’t afraid to suggest you ought to be too. For example, the first time I went to see her she was shocked that the wearing away of my two front teeth had never been tackled by previous dentists, who never figured out a reason for the deterioration, or addressed by my parents. She suggested multiple options, including the more affordable for me at the time bonding, which she performed. I was unhappy with the results-​after years of little nubs I’d found rather charming my teeth now felt like Bugs Bunny’s. I called the next day, voiced my concerns and was invited back to have them reworked. It was embarrassment and guilt free and I left happy with the work and my newly adult-​looking teeth.
After going to London for a year and coming back I delayed my next check up. Perhaps it was a case of post-​England blues and a desire to live out my Anglophilia through poor teeth or something, but I just wasn’t in any rush to get them checked out. Well, after numerous «Time for a check up» cards arrived in the mail for me, I did finally make an appointment, expecting to get chastised for letting the check up go, which I sort of was, but I also left with brightly shining teeth and happy I was bullied into coming back. Dr. Sera is serious about her patients’ teeth and when her patients aren’t so serious about their own I guess that’s a pretty good thing.
