Tarzana Nail & Beauty Salon

I have gone here for years & gotten to know and be friendly with the workers there, & I guess I had enough today. They have finally lost me as a customer today. I have previously gotten acrylics & pedicures, and sometimes the extra massage, callous remover, and/​or sea salt. Whatever you’re getting done definitely depends on who you get. Some won’t massage at all if you don’t pay extra, while some will do it because it’s usually part of a pedicure. They’ve always tried to up sell and will seem angry if you say no, but sometimes I have said yes, so I guess I can’t blame them for trying. But, you should be able to take no for an answer & don’t keep pushing.
They do sometimes have loud conversations, but you dont understand. Maybe they could turn up the tv, so people can watch and listen to something.
Someone in Encino told me a manicure with gel polish was $ 25, and since I’m not a manicure person, I thought this was high so I came to my familiar local place again. Same price, but from what I’m seeing on here, it is expensive for what you’re getting (a no frills basic salon/​service).
But when I tell you this is like my first manicure, you should make it a great experience and massage/​lotion the hands/​arms a bit, so you will make me want to do it again and pay money for what you’re doing. She asked if I wanted extra massage (meaning ‘pay for it’)… so no massage.
What the final straw was for me today was she used sea salt scrub without asking, or telling me it was going to be $ 10 EXTRA (I think I even asked her if this is part of the manicure & she said yes…). She saw my surprise when she said $ 35, because she quickly reduced the price to $ 30, so I guess thanks for that.
The polish is not very nice & the cuticle work was rushed (again, goes back to depending on who you get). And I was charged $ 1 to use a credit card.
Sorry, guys, there’s just too much competition on Ventura Blvd at same or lower prices to be this mehhhh about your service/​salon.

Go somewhere else and DO NOT COME HERE. This place is mediocre at best. I’ve gone here plenty of times in the past and they’ve always done an ok job. But I have a big event tomorrow and asked for ombré effect nails. I even showed them a picture and asked if they can do this. They said yes, but look at the pictures of my toes and hands. The woman doing my pedicure clearly had never done this before and my hands are better but absolutely not worth what I paid for. They also don’t file nails to look the same, I always have rough edges.
The other reviews accurately reflect the rude and defensive behavior of the people who work here. If there’s a wait, they do a rush job and become even more rude, saying loudly, «I know how to do my job.» One of them women there is an outright bitch. She is the rudest and most obnoxious person ever. Honey, we’re paying YOU for a service and if we don’t like it, don’t get snappy and start yelling at your customers. She actually yelled at an older lady today in front of entire salon this afternoon when I was there. Why? All the poor lady did was ask questions! She’s also been bitchy and rude to me and my mother. WTF? Um, in a city where nail salons litter every street corner and the power of Unilocal reviews, I can’t imagine this place lasting much longer with this kind of obnoxious behavior. I wish I’d Unilocaled another place to go to before my party tomorrow night. I will not be coming back here ever again. I’ve already bookmarked other locations nearby and will go to them next time. Now it’s been an hour and my nail polish is actually flaking off. Needless to say, save yourself money and go somewhere better rated!

I’ve been here three times. All three times I’ve walked out disappointed and upset.
My first time here I had acrylic nails on. They told me to grow it out longer and the next time I come in they can remove it. I agreed. I figured they couldn’t mess up a simple color over the acrylic. Sadly they did. Julie did an awful job! As she was doing my nails I noticed that she missed the sides of every nail. I had to tell her to color it in or else she would have let me walked out of there like that. She also didn’t clean up the polish. This messy job was something I could’ve easily done myself.
Second time was similar to the first time. Julie came up to me assuming I wanted her again. I wanted to give her another chance hoping it’ll be better than the first time. Another disappointment. Missed the sides and the pedi didn’t come out as I wanted. Another nail technician had to help her fix the color on my toes.
The third and very last time I’ll come here. I got a different nail technician. She did a much better job than Julie, but I was still not completely satisfied. The gel manicure felt uneven. A piece of the cotton ball also got stuck under the manicure.
I was not the only unsatisfied customer. As I was getting my mani done I sat next to a woman that was getting her gel removed. No one was attending to her. It looked like the nail technician walked away to work on another person. The customer said her fingers were burning. She had to speak up for anyone to help her. Very unprofessional.
I kept coming back because of my boyfriend. He is very sensitive to the nail polish. This is the only place he can come in to get his nails done since it does not smell. It doesn’t smell as bad as the other nail salons since they’re not as busy. He doesn’t realize that a man’s mani and pedi is completely different from a woman’s. I tried to give this place another chance, but in my honest opinion it’s not worth it. They also up sell their other services. When I get my nails done I’m not looking for perfection, but a decent job. Something that will last for the next two weeks or so. Why go through all that when you can easily look up another nail salon nearby with better reviews and services. Lesson learned.

I came in here just to fix one nail, I just asked her to please match the rest. They were so rude about it i felt uncomfortable I almost walked out half way but I needed my nail for the following day (thanks giving). However will never return.

Just left. wish I had came to Unilocal first. 1. Overpriced 2. Got an attitude when I declined the callus remover (I simply asked «what is in the solution you use?».but she didn’t know and got embarrassed that she didn’t know, and instead of trying to find out she simply said, «you need it. It good. Everybody get it.» I still declined but did so very politely. I guess no one ever asked what’s in that gel they use so she proceeded to mumble something to the other workers, of course in a different language. So rude. 3. As a result of me declining the callus remover, she did a horrible job on my other foot! It was clear she was upset. Completely downhill afterwards. I felt like a baby was giving my pedi moving forward, she barely scrubbed with the purple pumice, applied no pressure with the massage and then had the nerve to ask if I wanted extra massage. I then told her that I would come back for my mani (even though I wasn’t). And of course more attitude and remarks in a different language. Then they offered to just do a polish change on my nails, which I declined bc I actually need a good mani, but wasn’t going to waste any more money in that dump. Stay away. Hopefully this place won’t be around for long.

I got my nail done yesterday with them for the first time and would be my last time. Not only they can’t do their job but also they are so expensive. I live in west LA and I always going to nail salon with massage chair, sea salt, manicure pedicure for only $ 25 but they charged me $ 39 for SEA SALT and mani pedi… Staff are very polite and nice but their service doesn’t worth for a dime. I gave 2 star just because for the staff but obviously for the service it would be –0

I can’t stress enough on how unprofessional they are. Apparently they use white out to paint nails because that is exactly how crappy it looks. I would not recommend anyone to this place.

If i had to describe this place in one word it would be WORST! I spent $ 18 on a manicure that peeled off the next day. The nail polish was clumpy as they were painting my nails. Also it looked like a baby painted them. I do not recommend this nail salon at all.

I recently moved to the area and was looking for a new nail salon. I walked into Tarzana nail salon and boy was I disappointed. No customer serivce, trying ot sell you on everything, and the lady who did my fills well put it this way a week later all of them were off. At the end of my pedicure the lady who put my sandlas on messed up one of my nails and did not even offer to fix it. I think i will drive 20 mins and go back to my old salon wher I used to live, I would never go back to this place.

Zero stars if I could.

At the end the lady was super rude, she put the flipflops on me and when I asked if she could put my shoes inside my bad so I wouldnt messed up my just done manicure she flat out said: no, you can do it.
As I told her while I was leaving — no wonder people don’t come back to your place!
There is another salon in the same plaza its cheaper but it was packed. I will try it next time. I should have known better when i saw people were willing to wait in the one in front while there was no one in this one!

This is my first time coming in a while but Julie deserves so much praise because she knows acrylics! My nails came out sooooo perfect and pretty. My daughter also saw Connie and got gel nails done that came out so nice. They also are so down to earth and friendly. I highly recommend.

But it seems that every time I come here I interrupt them playing poker and their loud conversations. They are also very rude. They keep trying to sell me extra massage and flowers on my nails and extra scrubs. They are so pushy. I would defiantly not come back.

Bd experience. Walked in with my friend because it seemed nice. My chair (massage) didn’t work, when I asked to change a place they all started talking to each other and looked generally pissed. One guy dud the pedicure for me, I had to point out that he didn’t clean my nails, then before he started with the nail polish I told him he filed my toenails unevenly. While trying to fix it he filed them super short and just made it worse. I asked him to stop and did it myself (not too much to salvage as the nails were very short at this point). Another lady did my manicure. The polish was put on unevenly, she had a special talent — most of my skin around my nails had nail polish yet there wasn’t nail polish on all of the nail. She skipped the sides and the end of the nails. After I complained she try to fix it, and I ended up with more nail polish on my skin.
A waste of good $ 26 go somewhere else.

Cindy is the best… Get your nails done by her! Thank you Cindy!!! Only thing I don’t like is that they charge a dollar for paying with a card. Is not so nice inside but everytime I go get My nails done I walk out of there really happy and even got a ride to my house one night my phone died and couldn’t call my friend to pick me up.

Loved the cleanliness of it! The lady doing my toes was wearing gloves the entire time! She took her time and did a satisfactory job! My only issue was that I felt like she kept trying to trick me into spending more. Kept asking if I want a message and how my feet need the silk wrap. Also, when I came to pay, she failed to tell me that they charge a fee for credit-​cards! She told me after she had already ran my card

RIP OFF! RIP OFF! RIP OFF!!! This shitty as place, with their broken down equipment and horrible service has the audacity to charge me $ 46 for a mediocre mani/​pedi. I would understand if this place had nice furniture and a very attentive staff. But it’s decoration is old and worn out, waited about 40 mins for service, and they rushed to get the work done. No one offered me something to drink. And then to top it all off I’m charged and extra $ 1 to use my debt card! Plus, you want a tip? Here is a tip: If you are gonna charge me as a high end salon then you need to be a high end salon.
Just because you are in Tarzana/​Encino doesn’t mean you can charge high prices!

I like this place. Julie is very nice and she does a great job. She stayed longer and did my mani/​pedi around 8 pm. Go to her. She is good :)

I didn’t go for a mani/​pedi, but I did go and get my hair done by Paul. I walked in with the curliest, damaged hair and just a few hours later, I walked out with a cut, color, highlights, and the best blowout ever! I highly recommend him to anyone, he’s fast and has an amazing eye for color. If I could tap in ten stars, I would!

Honestly I should have probably heeded the advice of previous reviewers but since my friend already ahd appointments for us ahead of time I decided well… what’s the worst that could happen… (although a lot probably could).
At first it didn’t seem so bad we were both seated quickly — but since it was near closing time everyone seemed in a rush to leave instead of pay attention to us as carefully as a client normally should get.
My manicure wasn’t as good as it could have been honestly and my pedi could also have use some more attention. They do in fact try to charge much more by adding services that should already be included. My normal places around Saticoy and Tampa are much more bang for your buck compared to this one.

The thing is with this place is that you need to know who to go to. Tammy is absolutely amazing and wonderful. She always does a great job with my manicures… There are 2 guys there, one of them is really good too… I guess it’s the younger looking one?

it kindda sucks that not all of them are at Tammy’s class. It’s like a bloody Russian roulette coming in here. lol…
They do have the welcoming problem, as Carol has mentioned below… Even if there is a lady to greet, she just points out where to go… Always makes me awkward because I don’t understand what she is trying to say.
Was here on a Saturday and just wanted a basic manicure. No fancy shmancy stuff going on. Clean, buff and on the black polish (OPI, of course…) goes.
I swear, I’ve never come across such hardcore harassing upselling in my life… Bloody hell, let me tell ya…
Attempt one was the obvious one… I asked for a manicure and the lady goes (with an eccentric enthusiasm) «mani/​padi»…“Uhm, no thanks, just mani today, please”…(there are at least 2 attempts for this upsale, btw.)
Attempt 4. The inevitable ‘mild’ suggestion to have acrylics… And than the Gel nails. (Mentioned that I bite my nails, tried to explain that I don’t like having acrylics because I bite those F***ers too!
Attempt 3 was, at $ 5-​$ 10 extra, having a sugar polish because my cuticles are dry… «Uhm. No thanks, just the basic please»…
Attempt 4, whilst massaging my hand, you know, the pink lotion stage, trying to upgrade the hand massage…
Had to figure out on my own that this is an extra of course… «Uhm. No THANKS !!»…

By the way, upon denial of an upgrade, my manicure seems to have come short and the smallest attempt of communicating with me have seems to disappear. :(

I have decided to just make an appointment and make sure that Tammy is helping me the last time… And I would recommend her to everyone who wants to check out this place.
