We ordered take out on a Sunday afternoon and sat at the bar for a drink while it was being prepared. My Mai Tai was made to order while my brother’s Suffering Bastard was poured(pre-prepared) from a bottle. My drink was pretty boozy, but tasty. We were the only people at the bar when we sat down, but the service was great. For food, we ordered the staples: chicken fingers, crab rangoons, chicken fried rice, beef teriyaki on a stick, scallion pancakes, chicken and cashews, and chicken and broccoli. The chicken fried rice was on the bland side(but that could be because I’m used to more flavorful pork in my fried rice). Other than that, everything was good and reasonably-priced.

Ordered take out last night, shelled out $ 60 for a poo poo platter for 3(tasteless), yang chow fried rice(overcooked white rice) and beef with cashew and assorted vegetables which was OK. I had a $ 5 off purchases over 25 or more coupon which the girl at the desk wouldn’t accept. It had expired. I asked her to point out where the expiration date was as I couldn’t see it. She turned it sideways and pointed to microscopic late date of April. After a few years of business with the restaurant Im done.

HKC is consistantly good. I’ve been there more than a few times, and had take out — each time it was very good. They have a wide variety with various options, serve brown rice — important to me — and their drinks have actual alcohol in them. Wait staff appear confused at times so if you’re in a hurry beware. Have to admit the place could probably use a good cleaning — but it is not disgusting.

Took my family there last Sunday and, the food and the portions weren’t very good. The beef teriyaki & boneless ribs were overcooked and dry. Also the service was VERY slow and the waiter appeared to b in a bad mood. This place use to b real good, now their just Awful !

Heard this place was a fun, kitschy 60’s survivor with cheap, decent food. Partly true, it’s a big place with tired tacky 60’s décor, amateur service, mediocre food and prices. Not worth the drive.

Sushi is amazing here! Great place to get take out or visit. They have my favorite crab rangoon. Highly recommend!

Service was good. Menu is varied. The Peking ravioli are huge and flavorful. All of the food was presented well and tasted delicious.

Delicious! We went in time for the lunch special and got: a choice of soup(wonton, hot and sour, or egg drop); rice(steamed or pork-fried); an entrée(several to choose from); and a side(egg roll or crab Rangoon); as well as hot tea– all for $ 8.50! The food was excellent, the servers were polite and helpful. The décor could use some TLC, but I’d rather have delicious food in a less than ideal setting, than less than ideal food in a beautiful setting.

I am super disappointed in this restaurants customer service in accomodating allergies and food sensitivities. When asking questions about the menu they wouldn’t tell me what the ingredients were, and simply said that there is dairy in every single menu item and that they wouldn’t omit it. Which is the same as saying, we don’t care and eat somewhere else. I have never seen a restaurant totally write off a customer for having dietary restrictions before. I even said«what CAN I order?» and they told me nothing. That can’t possibly even be true. They clearly DONOTCAREABOUTTHECUSTOMER.

Great service. Although the food is mediocre and overpriced. I wasn’t too impressed by the food. Smaller portions. Great bar though.

We will not be coming back to this establishment. Very rude people and the food was not even worth the price. By far the wrost chinese food we have ever had.

second visit here over a span of a few years and i must say it is the best chinese in this city. taunton has a lot of small Chinese spots but they aren’t very good or fresh. first off, hong kong city is very big inside. it has comfy wide chairs and large tables. plenty of room for a group of people. i would recommend it for parties as well. the atmosphere was cozy, there’s also a large bar and bar area for the sushi. menu is quite large, not a ton of sushi options like other«sushi only» restaurants but enough variety to fit your craving. they have traditional chinese such as the pupu platter and wonton soup, in addition to pas thai and spring rolls and of course sushi. we started with the wonton soup, which was the best i ever had. in this area. the noodles were fresh, not too soggy and the broth was delish as well as the meat and veggies inside. next i had the shrimp umi which was fresh and tasty. the white rice was slightly sweet too. i will say i wish they gave more to the order instead of 2 pieces but for an extra few bucks you can add a few more pieces to it which was fine. also, i had the pork chop suey. fresh, nice crunchy veggies, thick slices of pork which add a nice flavor and enough sauce to coat each bite. food was piping hot which is much needed with Chinese food imo! i had to order some Chinese chow mein noodles on the side because the order didn’t come with any rice or anything, so that was a bit annoying. for the price they could add in a small dish of white rice. last thing i tried was the egg rolls. crispy, fresh not too greasy. a pure delight! i gave this place 5 stars because they give free tea, very hot in a cute porcelain tea pot. in addition i gave 5 stars because i love the Chinese hot mustard and usually every place i go they charge me extra for it, and if they provide it it is watered down and not the real deal lol soo when my sushi came out and the waiter placed some on the table without me asking it was enough for me to give this place a 5 * review. if you live in taunton or are in the area give it a try. i think you’d enjoy.

This is the best spot for Asian dining in a 20 mile radius. The cooked meals are delicious and very shareable. Its a great spot to go with a group or even just for two. The dining space is huge and theres a decent atmosphere. The real draw here is the sushi. Absolutely the best sushi I have found south of Boston. The price is well bellow what most sushi places charge in the area as well.

We have been here s million times. Pretty decent Chinese and very good sushi for the most part. Everything is pretty fresh which is more than can be said for most of the Chinese food in this area. I always like the tuna sashimi and my wife loves the Hong Kong platter. They definitely have the best Mai tais I have ever had.

Food & service both are good at this place. I went to Hong Kong City with my friend who had lots of good things to say about the food and I wasn’t disappointed. We ordered Veggie Spring role and Crab Rangoon for appetizers & they were very good, Sushi was fresh and tasty while the Spicy Sichuan Beef was a little disappointing. Over all a good experience and I will come back for more.

Been a big fan of this place since moving to the area in 2008. However the past two time we have visited the place the service has completely stunk and the food is just ok. Tonight we were seated in the bar area(table) took 20 mins for the waiter/bar tender to get to us for our drinks. we had nearly finished our drinks by the time he came around to take the order. When we ordered we ordered the entire meal at once in fear it would take forever. we asked to substitute something on the order. when the food arrived in no time it was not the freshest nor had the items we asked for. the shrimp was still there. we never got refills and were charged for the extra we didn’t get. .totally disappointed with this place now.

A solid American Chinese food restaurant. Modern and updated without being pretentious(they had Chinese Zodiac place mats – any place with those definitely doesn’t take itself too seriously!!), good food, great service. Our server was super accommodating, letting us sit and chat long after all the other patrons had left, which I appreciate. We had a mix of items; the eggrolls, fried rice and crab rangoon were just what I’d expect from this kind of place – flavorful, not too greasy and quick to arrive at the table. The sushi was all excellent, and was brought out as it was ready, which I always appreciate to prevent it sitting out too long.

I remember the food being delicious the first handful of times I ate here, and the last few times I remember thinking that it could have been better, but overall the food is good. The only thing that is absolutely disgusting is their soup. Do not order the soup. It is as if they boiled chicken, and serve the hot water full of chicken fat with a few pieces of floating tofu. It even has that distinct boiled chicken smell. very unappealing and completely awful. Do yourself a favor and skip the soup, you will thank me: D. The atmosphere is really nice, and is a great surprise given the area. Everything is nicely updated, and the restaurant has a very modern/American feel to it. The service is always really good as well, and everything is always nice and clean. There are banquet rooms available for rent. There is a HUGE ballroom upstairs, and two smaller rooms downstairs that have flat screen TV’s, and a specific amount of seating that depends on the room you choose. I have gone to a couple of different parties in these rooms, and there is usually a minimum amount of money needed to spend in order to secure the room. Any event I have attended here went wonderfully. Definitely a great spot for a romantic date, or a nice night with family. I would absolutely recommend Hong Kong City.
