Avoid this store! My experience with Ruth at Cohen Printing has been a nightmare. She is defensive, aggressive, and her customer service is atrocious. My fiancé and I live in Manhattan, and were looking for wedding invitations that were printed in both English and Hebrew, and also a printer who would be able to address the envelopes. After reading reviews online and looking at her website, we went out to Teaneck to meet with Ruth and order our invitations on December 22, 2015 for our March 27, 2016 wedding. Ruth’s designs are beautiful. She is a talented graphic designer. We discussed what we were looking for and she gave us several options. We chose a greeting card fold open style invitation, with matching RSVP cards, lined inner envelopes as well as having her print the guest’s addresses on the envelopes. The cost for all this was a little over $ 1,100. Ruth took a deposit of $ 400 and would send us an invoice for the rest upon delivery. Ruth started working on the design right away. By December 29, 2015 we had finalized the proof of the invitation by sending PDFs back and forth via e-mail. Ruth overnighted the completed invitations to us on January 13, 2016. UPS left the box outside my apartment. We noticed the envelopes were not lined, and contacted Ruth. She told us this invitation style didn’t come with lined envelopes and she didn’t charge us for them. Ok, it would have been nice if she had proactively told this when she found out. My fiancé and I checked the top few invitations and then went out of town for a few days. I mailed Ruth a check for the balance of the invoice. We were excited to stuff the envelopes and mail out the invitations when we got back home. On January 22, 2016 when we started stuffing the invitations, about ¼ of the way down we noticed that the invitations started having spots of ink bleeding through from the front cover onto the English(left) side of the invitation. I e-mailed Ruth with photos. She offered to reprint the invitations and overnight them to us again, while saying that she checked the invitations at the store and didn’t see any bleed through. First she said she’d need the first set of invitations mailed back to her, then she said I didn’t have to mail them back. I told Ruth I’d need to receive the invitations by Friday, January 29, 2016, or that I’d want to discuss getting a refund. The next set of invitations was supposed to be delivered on January 27, 2016, but the printer put a signature requirement on the UPS box(which Ruth did not tell me they would do), so UPS would not deliver since I wasn’t home. They delivered to an «access point» at a local pharmacy the next day. I contacted Ruth about this, and she was very defensive, saying it cost her $ 85 to overnight the package and of course it needed signature delivery(which strangely, the first set of invitations did not), and blaming me for not giving her an address where I would be available to accept delivery. I picked up the second set of invitations from the pharmacy on January 28, 2016. The print was broken up on the entire run of the invitations on the Hebrew side. They obviously had not been proofread at the printers. These invitations were totally not usable. I emailed Ruth again with photos. At this point we were 8 weeks away from the wedding and the invitations needed to be mailed to our guests. I told Ruth we would send out the original invitations with the ink bleed through, and asked for a refund and an updated invoice. Ruth wrote back saying she would print them again, asking me to give her an opportunity to make this right. She promised the invitations would be delivered to me on Saturday, January 30, 2016. At this point I am really frustrated, but hoping that we will receive the invitations and be able to stuff and mail them to our guests quickly. We waited at home on Saturday to receive the invitations. Ruth sent me the UPS tracking number so I could monitor the delivery. Around noon I see on the UPS website that the printer put an invalid address on the UPS label, so the invitations cannot be delivered. I contact Ruth, and she blames me for the address being wrong, because the printer used the same address they used for the second set of invitations(that had to be delivered to the pharmacy). I contact UPS to give them the correct address, and they will not try to redeliver same day. Ruth and I went back and forth by e-mail. She offered me a 15% refund, then later said she would send me Thank You cards for free as an apology. The sender called UPS and had the delivery address changed to my office, and I finally received usable invitations on February 3, 2016. When I followed up two weeks later with Ruth to see how we’d be receiving the refund, she reneged, saying she sent Thank You cards and that was worth more than the 15% refund, and if I wanted a refund I would have to mail her back the Thank You cards and all the bad invitations. What a terrible, frustrating experience.

Wow, Ruth Cohen is a total gem. Everyone commented that our wedding invitations were the most elegant they had ever seen. I am out of state, and since I married an Israeli we had Hebrew/English wedding invitations. Ruth was incredibly patient with the back-and-forth across continents to get every last detail perfect on the invitations. The invitations were done in a timely manner and printed beautifully. I believe they were an excellent value for how beautiful they were. Ruth was responsive, professional, and caring. We are so grateful to her for her amazing work and couldn’t recommend Cohen Printing more highly!
