It is amazing how many things they carry Meat selection bakery and dairy are really good. Staff are very attentive.

My partner and I make the trip here about once every two weeks for a greater selection of meat options. They usually have more Kosher cuts than our local Shop Rite and they are more tender. The baby lamb chops are wonderful and worth the trip alone. We also really like the super thin chicken cutlets, which our local store doesn’t carry as often anymore. We also like basic items such as cleaning products(they have an oven cleaner which is fantastic for the grill), spices, nut butters, and oils. Cons are their produce section is very disappointing and looks very sad. In addition, store shelves often have coffee cups and food wrappers presumably from shoppers. The onus here is on both sloppy shoppers and neglectful staff. Overall, we are thankful that Glatt Express is here since we no longer live near Aaron’s Gourmet in Rego Park and the prices here are more reasonable.

The selection of conventional packaged foods is impressive, given the size of the place.(They always stock the hard-to-find Israeli olive oil called Halutzah – both regular and organic!). The Passover options are solid, if low-end. This year, a sign near the checkout boasted about their lack of price gouging for the holiday.(Not that their prices were low – oh, no, we can’t have reasonable Passover prices! – just that they weren’t illegally high. Thanks, I guess?) The small, cramped layout does this store no favors. In addition, on a recent visit, many packages of chicken were mislabeled and mispriced. It made me suspicious of the entire meat department, since so little care seems to go into it. Kosher shoppers are used to putting up with all sorts of mediocrity to get the job done. But why should they have to?
