It’s really a good place, it just depends on where you SIT and what you ORDER. Walk in and sit at the BAR. You will get served right away. Get the Jessica Roll and stay away from their Miso soup(Its the miso soup that you just add hot water to in the packet). Overall its pretty good and never really packed.

Traveling through Tehachapi on our way back home. Ordered rainbow roll without sauce, half dragon roll, assorted combo sushi, and nigiri. Was so delicious! The fish changes depending what’s in stock. The best part was our waiter Trent! He was so efficient and service was great. Ask for Trent!!!

Service was quick and server was nice. Sushi was ok. It is the first time I ordered spicy ahi tuna roll and the tuna was ground tuna. The bathrooms were super dirty. But in the plus the service was great and we got our food fast.

I have to say I am not impressed. I came for lunch on a weekday at about noon. The restaurant is clean and the service was fine. The presentation of the food was nice. I got what would typically be a bento box lunch. They serve theirs on a huge oversized plate well decorated. The food itself was meh. The teriyaki chicken sauce was good but the chicken was overcooked and dry. I needed water to wash it down. The rice on the spicy salmon roll was hard, like it had been sitting in the fridge for a while, and now that I think about it, it wouldn’t surprise me if the chicken was already cooked and reheated. Thats how bad it was. The vegetable tempura was fine, however. Overall not good food at an expensive price. The total for that was $ 14.55. I definitely had better for less $. I will not be going back. I should have just gone to Del Taco. Their chicken is better.

The reason I rate this place so low is because of the communication problem there … No one has a basic understanding of simple English so I couldn’t even pick up my to go order because the lady working the desk had no idea what I was saying, if you can’t speak English then you shouldn’t work with customers I will never go back again period

By far, the best sushi in town. Friendly service, fresh fish, & large portions. I prefer the sashimi, or nigiri sushi, but I have had many of their rolls, & they are usually great. Try the Happy Roll. They recently added draft beer.

Food is fresh, great friendly, courtious, and professional service from the sushi chefs. Considering I am in a small town now and the big city, I was pleasently surprised by the sushi bar. I am a regurlar now when i get the craving for sushi.

This place was great. The presentation was fantastic and so was the taste. Would recommend the Ninja and Lobster Roll! They seem to add a few pieces to each roll I ordered.

Pretty darn good sushi and service for Tehachapi. My all time favorite is the BMW roll. The mango roll, burrito roll & Jessica roll are also very good. Try the appetizer(I don’t remember the name) — jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese and(I think) tuna then fried. To die for!

My serious favorite sushi ever! I travel out of town for work and I still love Ichiban the best. The burrito roll and mango roll are my favorite. The servers are very nice and efficient. I order my three year old soba noodles with no vegetables and he loves them. It’s rarely ever busy and I don’t understand why. It’s a must try for anyone who hasn’t!

I really love to go here! I order a different roll every time with a side of fried rice and I’ve never had anything bad here! The service is great and I would highly recommend going here if you want some fantastic sushi!

Passing thorough Tehachapi on our way to Woodward west. Stopped in for some sushi and was a lil worried that it was not a busy place. 7pm on a Friday night, and pretty stoked on the food quality. The spicy baked lobster was killer. Tepan style Steak & chicken with veggies was flavorful with good texture. Service was attentive and super friendly. Space is open and clean. We will definitely return when we are going back to www camp.

The service was slow. When I got my food the vegetables were cold and the steak was warm. At least the tea and rice were hot. Felt like it had been sitting for awhile. The place came highly recommended from the front desk gal at the Fairfield. Pretty sure I won’t be back.

Went here with a friend of mine a couple of times, pretty darn good sushi. The staff were very friendly, but a little scarce, had to chase down our waitress for refills. I had a sushi roll(can’t remember the name) it was pretty good; fresh and flavorful. My friend had the beef teriyaki, and she says the meat was tender and had that good ol’ teriyaki kick. Both times we’ve been here have been without incident and we enjoyed our meals, its a little hole-in-the-wall sushi place that I recommend to anyone who is picky about their fish.

Ichiban is one of those restaurants that you grow fond of like a fisherman and his favourite wharf. I’ve been coming to this sushi joint for over a year, and it is by far the most legit sushi you can get in Tehachapi. On an aside, why are there 4 sushi places in this village? Midori ain’t got nothin on this place. The prices are affordable, the fish is fresh, and the staff is friendly. My go-to order are the simple rolls spicy tuna, yellowtail, and salmon. I don’t like rolls with sauces because now you’re just trying to hard to like sushi. Order the classics, and you will be rewarded with immortality.

There are only two other options in Tehachapi for sushi & to be honest I’m not in love with any of them. Ichiban wins 3 stars from me because of their«spicy baked lobster» dish & their aggressively average California rolls. The«lobster dish is super rich and absolutely delicious, for when you’re feeling like eating a bunch of calories. A little on the small side though… I have tried several other rolls and they are definitely edible. I have also tried their«lunch combo» a + b thing with teriyaki chicken and it was a poor sized serving on a GIANTPLATE. Their teriyaki chicken is super disgusting & the sauce tased like straight molasses. Moral of story, stick to the rolls & tempura and you will have about as enjoyable meal as you possibly can in Tehachapi. Probably avoid their miso soup too, kind of tastes like dirty dish water. :/

Never got a chance to eat there, why? I called to see if there was any traditional cooked dishes because a member of my party does not eat seafood. It was a simple question but I was passed to three different people seeking an informal answer that no one wanted to respond to. Bottom line is I got fed-up repeating myself as if I was talking with a 2 year old so they lost my business without us setting foot in their restaurant. Too bad for them that they refused to respond to a simple inquiry.

Very good food. Great service. The beef noodles plate my son got looked and tasted delish. The rice was very good also. Would definitely come back and recommend.

Went here on a Sunday because Kasagiri was closed. Very meh. Service was good but it took a while for the server to take my order(sushi chef called her over…). I got the Maui and Sunset rolls which were just okay. The Maui was the better of the two, but it was a weird combination to have cold crab mix(think Cali roll stuffing) with warm seared fish on the outside. The light citrus soy with sweet, thin sliced onion on top was really good though. However, the sunset was not good. While the fish was good, the oddly radioactive orange spicy glaze destroyed the taste. Next time I’ll just eat somewhere else and go on a night when Kasagiri is open, or head to Lancaster and eat at Big Tuna. :)
