Irvine Spectrum Center, CA
Was just driving through Tehachapi and stopped for a bite. Had a hankering for something sweet and gave this place a try. It did not disappoint. The coconut macaroons were so light, delicate, fluffy and melt in your mouth. The cherry cheescake and chocolate chip cheesecake OMG wish they sold these in bigger portions!!! This place is awesome. Lots of goodies and German snacks. A must in Tehachapi.

Stopped in on a road trip and was pleasantly surprised! There were other nearby places that also looked good, but the pictures of the sandwiches are what captured us and they tasted just as delicious as they looked. There’s a large selection of breads and everything was on point. We tried the vegetarian sandwich, a turkey breast and a Reuben. We couldn’t pass up the baked good either and it was hard to choose since they all looked so yummy! The staff was friendly, easy parking and access back to the freeway. We’ll definitely stop by here again!

A nice family owned bakery. Friendly staff, good tasting house coffee and killer brownies. We dropped by in route to las vegas.
Very reasonable prices compared to Starbucks and the likes.

This place was really freakin’ good! I didn’t expect the sandwiches to be that big but they were amazing! I also had some of their raspberry cheesecake with chocolate and it was one of the best cheese cakes that I had ever had. I highly recommend this as a lunch place :).

Really, really good sandwiches AND desserts. My husband had roast beef and I had the Cuban panini. The panini was a bit bland and could definitely use some traditional Cuban sauce. We had peanut butter cookies and a lemon bar; both delish! The four stars rather than five is due to my sandwich being bland and our orders getting mixed up with another couples.

Got a lead to check out this place on our way to Mammoth. Now we have this on our list to stop on our way back through. Incredible pastries and croissant sandwiches. I took a nibble of the chocolate macaroon and the next thing I know it was gone!!! Not sure what happened in between :-). Cute German décor and fresh smelling clean bathroom (a welcome bonus on a road trip). Now two reasons to stop in Tahachapi Gas and bakery :-)

Freshly baked loaves of zucchini walnut loaf-​enough said ;) get more than one-​if don’t eat it, someone else will love you for sharing. Plenty of pastries, pies, German-​style bread, sauerkraut, imported drinks, beer and chocolate to choose from. Worth a stop if passing through town.

Amazing little German bakery and café in my mothers home town. There are many types of breads and pastries. The Macaroons are awesome. Sandwiches are amazing. This place is a must stop for my future trip to or just passing thru Tehachapi.

My husband and I visit a physician in the area once a month and make this our «date» afterwards. We really enjoy the atmosphere, and the food is outstanding. Great selection of pastries, bread, and unique beverages. Like a little slice of Europe in the middle of the mountains of the desert. I commented on the music today, which was hard rock and unusual for their ambience. Hard rock gives me indigestion and I asked if they would change it. They turned it off – which was a huge relief!
We love this place!

As a tourist here for the first time today, the place is great! Very cute everything is «German» style. German pastries, as far as having nice warm drinks you serve yourself… Which to me was kind of a downfall because I was expecting to go in there and have like a custom hot chocolate or custom coffee, the pastries I wish would have been warmed up. The pastries were not warmed just given to you like that. But the atmosphere in there was pretty neat

As we turn east, for destinations in Nevada, Arizona, or beyond, we always, and I mean always stop at Kohnen’s. I am addicted the the big pretzels. Dipped in a bit of the German mustard, Wonderful. My wife has a perfect deli sandwich, and often the soup of the day. The quality of the sandwich and soup is always perfect. The desserts are over the top, and always delectable. Add to this the bakery and breads and pastries, and we are alive and in heaven.
For all you travelers coming through Tehachapi this is a place to stop and enjoy. Always worth the stop. Pass the mustard please and I would like another pretzel.

It was clean and the staff was friendly.
I guess I was expecting something more.
There weren’t many choices left which I guess is good for business.
I got the New York cheese cake. I wasn’t impressed with the flavor. There really wasn’t any. It was bland. Texture was good but not enough flavor for me.
I’m sure we will go back and try something else someday tho.

Mammoth Lakes, CA
Super yummy and a great price! We have been road biking in Tehachipi on the weekends and looking for good spots to eat after our ride.
The place is very busy and the wait is long (hence the 4 instead of 5 stars). They have amazing breads and different varieties. My husband and I opted for the whole grain. You can choose from cold or hot sandwiches or salad. Each one is made custom so you choose the fixings you want — from healthy to decadent, there is something for everyone.
As many people as were there for meal dining, were there for the bakery treat desserts. We passed, but one of these trips I won’t be able to resist that zucchini bread.
If you are looking for a good deli sandwich, this is the place for you!

Simi Valley, CA
This bakery is adorable! It’s all German country themed inside, and they stay true to their theme. It’s a little bit busy on the eyes, kind of a lot going on, but I think maybe that is what they are going for. Against one wall is a giant chalk board that I’m guessing they have up for children to draw on while they wait for food.
We didn’t sit down to eat, we just brought pastries home. They have some cute bottled sodas, which I really like, like the sarsparilla and a guava soda. When we went in on the afternoon of the farmer’s market in town, they didn’t have much left in the way of whole cakes or large desserts, just a lot of individual stuff, so that was a little disappointing. We probably would have bought a large chocolate cake or something like that if they’d had it, but they just had a few fruit pies.
We got a slice of carrot cake, a chocolate cheesecake, and a cream puff. The cream puff was amazing. So delicious.

And we are sol happy we did!
A fairly large bakery, with an amazing selection to choose from.
The café part looked great & reasonable prices!
A must stop while in Tehachapi!

Absolutely delightful!
I love this bakery because 1) everything i get is delish! 2) its different… Its cool how they have grown and offer a lot of different options, for example: Beer, pastries, sanwiches!
anyway, staff is awesome, good seating inside and outside
I truly recommend for anybody that’s passing by to stop and have an «afternoon delight» yay!
