Bought boots, custum footbeds and rented skis after making mistake of trying the generic telluride ski rental place day before. Def go to bootdoctors for the real deal. these guys are passionate about skiing and getting it right. Thanks to Steve and Stu for saving my trip and my feet! Avoid the joint across street unless you want to pay $ 70 a day for terrible equipment.

I bought boots and skis from these guys. Jimbo did a great job fitting me with the right boot after coming in on day one in pain from my old boots. He took the time to make sure it was the right boot for me. The remaining 5 days were pain free with only one small adjustment. The free demo day with boot purchase convinced me it was time for new skis. I tried several over the over the next few days in varying conditions and with the advice of Eric and others settled on pair that are perfect for me. Service matters and these guys have that and good selection in spades.

I hesitated to buy my ski boots and custom footbeds from Boot Doctors, thinking it would end up costing too much. Not only did I get a reasonable deal, as did my mom 4 months later, these guys really came through for me. At both locations, they patiently examined my quirky ankles. It took 3 fittings, but now my boots are the best I’ve ever owned! All the boot fitters were patient, even on my 3rd trip in to the store. They told me they have countless tricks and adjustments to make to ensure that you are completely happy with your boots.

This review is based on their tuning, and customer service. My previous experience with BootDoctor’s had been wonderful, they are certainly among the best tuners around. Until I brought in a 2 week old Jones flagship board($ 550) with a white base to be tuned. The shop believes in only using black ptex, never clear, which is fine, but I was not told or warned of this when paying and dropping off the board. Most shops would either ask the customer if they had a preference of black or clear, or warn them that they only use black ptex. I understand that this is strictly a cosmetic issue, and does not impact the functionality of the board, but on a brand new high end board, I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect to be notified of the severe cosmetic damage that can be done. The combative manager told me to «go ride your board» when I raised this issue, and made no effort to remedy the situation. A simple fix to this poor experience(and now cosmetically ruined board) would be to simply warn customers of your ptex practices before the work is done, as well as, to make any effort at all of keeping a loyal customer happy. UPDATE: The Mountain Village location was able to offer a refund, and more importantly, a respectful explanation and resolution. The MV location is recommended for your customer service needs.

I walked into this shop to rent a full suspension 29er mountain bike. Their pricing seemed to be in line with the shop across the street(Telluride Sports). I rented the bike for a 24 hour period and proceeded to go for a ride. They charged extra for a lock, but were otherwise fairly friendly. The bike: The fun started once I got on the trail to shake down the bike. The bike was a Specialized Camber 29″ full suspension, base model. On my 5 mile ride down the mountain, I quickly discovered two things. First, the brakes on this bike were completely shot. The rear pads were making some nasty noises, and upon further inspection, the pads were cooked and were dragging metal on the rotors. Both the front and the rear brakes were lacking the necessary braking power to get down the mountain comfortably. I have installed numerous sets of disc brakes, all 203 mm front and 180 mm back. These were the same size, and just didn’t have the power because BootDoctors couldn’t be bothered to check the pads. They probably had never been replaced. Next, the front shock was hard as a rock so I worked on adjusting it. This particular bike comes with the Suntour XCR front fork/shocks. For those that are not familiar with it, this is the WORST front fork in existence. I adjusted the rebound all the way up and then all the way down. There was no difference. This left me without the ability to lift the front end of the bike up over obstacles in addition to an extremely rough ride. At this point, I decided to head on down the mountain and bring it back to the shop. The service: I brought the bike back into the shop less than 3 hours after I rented it. I explained my issues with the shocks and expressed my concern about the brake pads, and ultimately stated that I was not having a pleasant experience with the bike and would like to either get a different and better model of bike, or get a refund for at least the difference between a 4 hour and 24 hour rental. At this point, I was told I had two options. 1) Upgrade to a ‘pro’ level bike at double the price or 2) Get store credit for the whopping $ 6 difference in the time that I rented a bike. I was not interested in paying twice as much to rent a crazy expensive bike. What am I supposed to do with store credit? I wasn’t interested in buying anything. I told him that I wanted a refund for the $ 6. He explained that it was company policy to only give store credit. I explained that this was a terrible policy, and that he should have fun reading the 1 star Unilocal review that I’m about to go write. At this point he conceded and gave me a refund for the whopping $ 6.(hence the 2 stars instead of 1). The shop employee that I dealt with was cordial the entire time, but mostly seemed limited by terrible ‘company policies’. The alternatives: I went to Telluride Sports across the street to discuss bikes. I had lost my motivation to ride any more that day, so I didn’t end up renting another one, but their standard cross country full suspension 29″ mountain bikes were substantially better than the piece of junk that BootDoctors was renting out, at the exact same price. Both options at Telluride Sports had good quality medium level air based front fork shocks, and also weighed a few lbs less. I am confident that I would have had a night and day difference in experience if I had rented a bike from them instead. Summary: BootDoctors did not seem to care if their customers were happy with their rental at all. Their rental fleet consists of bikes with poor quality components worth half as much as their competition across the street. BootDoctors expressed no interested in making me a satisfied customer, and I had to argue with them to get a partial refund. I will never return to this store, and I would not recommend them to anyone.

Definitely come here to rent equipment in Telluride! Its location is great(right next to the gondola), which makes the experience incredibly easy. Boot doctors is set up in a way that ensures efficiency. For instance, you begin filling out basic info on a computer screen, which really saves time! The whole rental process only takes about 15 minutes. The people are incredibly nice and helpful, as well.

I had a great experience getting a new pair of ski boots from Bootdoctors in Telluride Co. «Jimbo» determined that i was skiing in boots that were 2 sizes too big — he proceeded to fit me in a perfect pair of boots with custom fitting foot beds. they definitely improved my skiing capability and enjoyment. Bootdoctors also directed me to the right demo skis to try out. Thanks Jimbo!

These guys are awesome. I have had so many ski boots and hated them all. Their boot fitter spent so much time with me finding the perfect boot. I’ve skiied on them for two days now and I couldn’t be happier. I know I spent more than I’ve ever spent on ski boots before. But it was completely worth it because I feel like I’m finally done buying boots for several years! I also rented skis here. They were great skis but the best part is how close they are to the slopes and gondola. You finish skiing for the day, walk across the street and drop your skis off. You never have to carry them anywhere.
