My definition of TED as the participant… Truth Seeking Exploration of Living Determined to Make a Difference TED’s definition of TED as the provider… Technology Entertainment Design Then you add an x and you have a local event! Former professors were my first introduction to TED Talks. Like most people we were introduced to the ideas worth spreading(the TED tag line) via the World Wide Web! This is the most affordable and easy way to access a TED event in general and you’re bound to find inspiration via your searches! TED also hosts major conferences. These large scale weekend venues will cost you thousands of $‘s to rub elbows with some of the biggest thinkers in our country and around the globe! As much as I would love to join them I may opt for a week in an over water bungalow in Tahiti for the same price. Where do you think great ideas start anyway? At TEDx great ideas can be observed in your own backyard! This was the case at TEDx Temecula. We enjoyed speakers on topics such as communication, busyness, and the human genome! We also enjoyed some locally grown music! The 2015 TEDxTemecula took place on Halloween and the theme was Masquerade. There was an art opportunity for all to create their own masks prior to entering the Old Town Theatre. Tickets were a very reasonable $ 40 for attendees and student rates were $ 20. Our full day included more than six speakers, a couple of video presentations and two live musical performances, including Temecula native Lee Koch and the LA based Honey Whiskey Trio. In addition, lunch was provided by EAT Temecula! Get your tix early for next year — as this event sold out for 2015! TEDx offers opportunities during breaks to mingle with the speakers, artists and fellow life long learners… this is truly my tribe! We plan to attend future local TEDx events! However, Big Ted might have to wait until those Tahiti dreams are realized! #TEDxTemecula #HalloweenMasquerade2015 #TEDorTahiti
