Wild Roots Holistic Learning Center

I found this school and loved it from the get go. My sons teachers were wonderful for the first year we attended. In our second year and with a new teacher my son actually started to dread going every morning. And regress in skills and potty training. I thought it was just a phase but more and more warning signs told me it was the new classroom. We were approached by staff that my son was cold to other students and mean. Which knowing my son was completely out of character. We made the decision to hastily leave and try a different environment. We changed schools and my son has never been happier. And has yet to receive a bad report of behavior and has a million friends. I am not here to trash the center or the staff. I do think they are a great school and have the best of intentions for their students but some kids learn more efficiently in a different environment.

This is a great school. When we moved here from NYC we left a really awesome school, so our search for an acceptable daycare for our 18 month old son was extensive. He was in the Sage room for just about 11 months and Tanya and Rachel were pivotal during this critical period of his development. Their devotion and dedication to their kids is unquestioned and they made sure our boy was potty trained before we had to move on to our next adventure. It was very difficult when we had to leave the area and change schools because we’ve all grown to really trust each other and our boy has made such good friends. The facilities have lots of room for the kids to play outside and really explore and practice their fine motor skills. They ride bikes, do arts and crafts, lots of water play, and one day they were flying paper airplanes! It’s was great. The Amazing Athletes program was also provided and our son loved it! He learned about different sports and the Amazing Athletes shirt is one of his favorites that he loves to wear all the time. Over the course of the 11 months, a lunch program developed and we were very pleased that vegetarian options were available and the food provided was made with fresh and organic ingredients. Our only complaint would be that this place follows a «normal school» schedule with week long spring and winter breaks. As a primary daycare for our young child, this made it inconvenient with both of us working. But we got through it, it’s all good. We highly recommend this school to anyone in the area.

I love this school. Wild Roots has surpassed every expectation my husband and I had for our child’s preschool experience. The staff is passionate, youthful, personable, approachable, accountable, and invested. The environment has been optimal for the development of our daughter. She absolutely loves her school, My only concern would be finding a school on par with Wild Roots when the time comes to matriculate. If you are searching for a place to enroll your child, you would do well to consider Wild Roots. I believe that my opinion would be almost universally echoed by the other parents of Wild Roots’ children.

I enrolled my son at exactly 18 months, the minimum age for enrolling. This is one of the few pres-​schools in the area that will admit toddlers in diapers. My motivation to start him in preschool so early was for him to socialize as he’s an only child and learn certain daily skills such as hygeine, feeding, etc as his nanny coddles him too much while I’m at work and does everything for him. I put down my deposit right away after I tour the facilities. I like the fact that it’s not a home daycare/​preschool. It’s actually an academic program. The teacher/​toddler ratio is very low, and it’s montesssori teaching method appeals to me as my son is not the type to sit still and learn. The facilities is clean and spacious, every space is fully ultilizes to maximize the learning experience. Tne staff and teachers are welcoming, pleasant, and very accomodating. My son didn’t cry on his first day, after one week he was grabbing his backpack at exactly 8 am every morning and waited by the door for the nanny to take him to school. After one month, he learned how to wash his hands before and after every meal, he’s very good with his please and thank you now. He’s also better at sharing while playing with the neighbor’s kid, patiently waiting for his turn at a toy. He’s also better at entertaining himself while I’m cooking for doing chores, vs clinging to me before. He loves to spend his day outside watering plants with the nanny or his dad. My mom from out of town visited one day and decided to spend the entire day at school with him. She also videotaped and took pictures of everything he does and the teacher and director didn’t mind one bit. After viewing the videos and pictures, it reaffirmed that I made the right decision in choosing Wild Roots. I agree with one of the reviewer’s comment that «these women make if look effortless». Ms. Rachael handles her class with so much love and grace. It brought me so much joy to see him interact with other kids his age, learning and exploring new things. Everyone from the director to the teacher are always available to answer my questions and give me updates. I really appreciate Ms. Rachael periodic email updates on my son’s progress. I can’t wait for my son to start their pre-​K programm.

In searching for a toddler program/​preschool for our daughter, we found none that compared with Wild Roots. From the start, our child was welcomed with open arms into an environment that reminded us of home, while also being educational and socializing (our daughter is an only child, so socialization was one of our biggest concerns for her pre-​K years). Now that we have met a number of other parents, we are further solidified in our decision of having our daughter attend Wild Roots. ALL (and when I say «all», I mean «all»!) of the teachers have been absolutely amazing and I am constantly in awe of their abilities to maintain patience and caring– even when pick-​up my daughter in the later afternoon hours. I highly recommend Wild Roots for anyone seeking a childcare/​preschool program which encourages play, self-​awareness, empathy, life skills, and relevant academics. Every other parent I’ve spoken with has felt the same (so far) and I look forward to another great year at Wild Roots. Our family feels incredibly lucky to have found such a great environment for our child.

My son is in the toddler room with his two favorite people, Miss Rachel and Miss Amanda. He absolutely loves it! He comes home every day he’s there talking all about his friends and the awesome discoveries they made that day. He is my little energetic and talkative boy, and I absolutely love seeing his social personality directed towards exploration and creativity! Everyone has been wonderfully caring and thoughtful, and Jen is always ready and willing to answer questions! I recommend this great school to anyone and everyone!

As a teacher as well as a parent, finding the right school for our son was a top priority. From the first tour I took with Jen, I knew Wild Roots was perfect for him. Ms. Brittany has gone above and beyond in finding a staff that is truly invested in the children they care for. Teaching preschool-​aged children is no easy task, but these women make it look effortless. Our son loves to be at school and is thriving in the environment provided by Wild Roots. Special thanks to Ms. Lidia for helping our son learn how to read (at 3!), to Ms. Danielle for the wonderful piano lessons and relating to him on a level that makes him feel truly «heard», and to Ms. Paula for being his «best teacher in the city.» I don’t know what I’d do without these wonderful ladies!

From the very first day we walked through the doors of this amazing school, we knew it was the right place for our son. Every single teacher is dedicated & passionate about education and helping the children grow, discover and learn in a holistic & loving environment. I love that they offer Parent Education Night to help bridge the gap between school and home. I could truly go on and on about the reasons I love this school and feel so grateful that it’s available in our town. The Montessori Room, The Atelier {Reggio Amelia Room}, The Playroom and the holistic organic back playground is so well thought out and cared for. They truly take pride in what they are offering and it shows. My son loves school and is continuing to flourish into a well spoken & well rounded individual because of the curriculum, love and guidance each and every staff member exudes. We have been with Wild Roots for the last 3 years… both of my daughters have been with Ms. Brittany since they were 2 ½. Now my oldest is entering K and she couldn’t be more prepared… reading, writing, math, the list goes on! The kids are exposed to so many wonderful things at Wild Roots. They are even growing their own garden of veggies! All of the teachers & staff truly care about each and every child and they get so much one on one attention on a daily basis. I am always amazed when one of my kids come home and tells me something that they learned at school that I didn’t even think they had they would learn until grade school! We love Wild Roots!

Our four and two year old attend Wild Roots Preschool; we couldn’t ask for a better place to send our little guys. Miss Brittany has such a beautiful vision for early childhood education, and she has attracted a wonderful staff. I know my kids’ personalities are being fostered, and they are learning concepts I never would have dreamed possible in preschool. Empathy, respect, conservation, and grace are predominant themes at WRP. We will be hard pressed to find a grade school that lives up to the standard set by Miss Brittany and her staff. Our kids LOVE going to school, and we love knowing they are getting the best possible early education. YAY, WILD ROOTS!!!

This place is amazing, i would give it 6 stars if I could. I am so glad that I found such a caring and nurturing environment in which my daughter can play, have fun, and learn so much. The teachers are really wonderful with the kids and clearly love what they do. My daughter cannot wait to go to school everyday and I am so happy with all of the ways in which she is learning and growing.
