Avalon Books & Hobbies

I had purchased a book from Avalon War Books and Hobbies online storefront and was so impressed with the way they carefully packaged and shipped my book to me. After discovering they were right next door in Tempe, I decided to drive over from Mesa to visit their store in person.
Kurt greeted me when I walked in and told him what type of books I was looking for and he not only showed me the sections that they were in, but he also made several recommendations which I appreciated.
The store itself can be missed as it is in a small strip mall so you have to look for it carefully. However, it has a very large variety of used and new books at very reasonable prices. Not only that, they also have a very nice selection of military model kits for those who are into building models.
Avalon War Books and Hobbies is the kind of bookstore that is not very common, as it is very specialized in military history which is perfect for buyers who are looking for these types of books. Their selection is very good and if they do not have a book you’re looking for in stock, they’ll do their best to find and special order it.
In short, a great bookstore with a friendly, knowledgeable (Keith the owner and Kurt) staff that makes it fun to go there.

My boyfriend has spent an obscene amount of money in this store and I am sure he will not stop anytime soon. This place has a ton of books geared toward your military enthusiast. My boyfriend is a huge jet and tank connoisseur (nerd is much easier to spell but kind of offensive haha) so he goes in this shop often.
The owner, Keith, is very nice and always helpful. I have gone in there to get gifts for my boyfriend and Keith is always patient with me as I am completely oblivious when it comes to tanks and planes.
As Calamari said the store has a lot of supplies for scale modeling and Keith is always willing to special order anything you may need.
