Owls Nest

I’ve only been to the Owl’s Nest twice, both for dueling pianos but it was a blast both times. It was rowdy and dirty but the place was full of young college kids having a good time singing with the pianos and getting their drink on.
It is definitely not a night club or pickup hotspot but is a good place to meet with friends and have a good time.

This place has unfortunately jumped the shark for me.
Since I avoided Scottsdale «clubs» for many years this was my go to place on Mill. It had a good mix of people, and decent music. OK, the music was cheesy top 40, but it was great drunk music. I could be the total nerd that I am playing the trivia/​photo hunt machine with a friend, and I could still meet hot guys. You could always find a seat and get drinks quickly, probably why I was usually drunk and having fun. People were just really chill here, and I could cab it home to my former abode.
Then the last few times I was in there it went downhill. I think they might have started putting flyers in Frat houses or something? All of a sudden it was filled with douchebagery. It got super crowded, and people were rude. It was really hard to get a drink too. This is a make or break for me at an alcohol serving establishment! If I have to wait 10 minutes every time my boozy ass wants a drink, I’m out of there.
Now that I’ve moved further than a cab ride away, I don’t even try to go there anymore. It is very sad when you lose a good drinking spot… luckily, I am now in Old Town which has many possibilities for new favorite bars. My quest to find a new favorite drinking spot or two with great cheap drinks, fun crowd, and mostly douche bag free. I don’t mind if there are one or two douche bags though, they make it entertaining for me!
