Friendly service and always good sandwiches(I stick with the hoagie). I’ve been coming here for awhile and always try to stop by when I’m in the Temple area. Yes it’s 70s/80s style, but i’m coming here for the food, not for the ambiance. The homemade bread is stellar. I can’t attest to the taste of the cheee steak, because I’m not a cheese steak type of guy.

My wife and I were recommended this place by a local who said it was ‘the best sandwich he’d ever had’. Now, this sort of verbal dry humping is generally a big red flag to me, but since we were still new to the area we figured it couldn’t hurt to check it out. Let me say this, if that was the best sandwich he’d ever experienced then I feel like he is missing out on a LOT in life. When we first came in, the place is worn down and far from looking like a clean and maintained establishment. While you COULD say it had an old school look, I would say that it just looked old, but not because of an attempt to do so in a kitschy way. As far as the food, it was nothing amazing, got a philly cheese steak and was not impressed at all despite the owner(and his immediate family) stating it was ‘their best’. We literally had the entire family watching us eat, and it was a bit unsettling, especially when there wasn’t much to rave about. The price was low, and it’s the only reason I may come back and try something else out of nothing more then hope for a better tomorrow.

Found this place after a google maps search for restaurants in the area. Mr. Gemba Walk and I decided to drive on over and check this place out for lunch. Result: definitely a 3.25 star experience, but we’re still workin’ on it. It’s retro here, dated, takes you back to the late 70’s or early 80’s, looks like an A&W cafeteria w/orange booths and tables. Note: there are no tables + chairs here, and if you’re BMI is over 40 then you may not be able to sit comfortably at one of these tables w/o having your gut lay on the table. I guess there wasn’t much of an obesity problem back then cuz they didn’t design it in. Not too busy here, the customer service was nice and friendly. She tried hard to upsell me on my steak sandwich but I found my way around it so I could get everything I wanted w/o an upcharge: steak sandwich(their most popular per her feedback) with cheese + onions + mushrooms + peppers + garlic salt. 5″ for $ 4.95, 7″ for $ 5.95, 12″ for 8.85. All subs and sandwiches come on homemade white or whole wheat bread, it was pretty good. My 7″ steak hoagie(pictured) was good, the peppers were great, couldn’t taste much of the garlic salt, and the meat was a bit on the bland side. I think the go conservative on the seasoning, but it was still pretty good. They also have cold cut subs, burgers, hot dogs, CFS, BLT, vegetarian sub, and Philly Cheese Steak too. Even though it was 3 stars I will be back, next time I’ll go for the Italian Cold Cut Sub and see how it fits into my diet. And if that pays off then we’ll adjust the rating accordingly.

They have a wide range of italian subs. I had the cheese steak. Wasn’t the worst i’ve had, but won’t even say it was average. If you are expecting a typical philly cheese steak, this isn’t what you’ll get. They put a lot of mayo. Not even sure if there was cheese in my sandwich. The hot peppers they put were a plus, and thats about it.
