This is my gym, and I can’t complain. There aren’t a lot of people when I come in, so that is good. As a big guy trying to get into shape, the last thing I like is being stared at and have comments made about my weight, so I make sure and come in late at night or early in the morning. Some people are rude as hell, but that isn’t the gym’s fault. The equipment is good here. I love that they have actual deadlift stations, something I have seen larger gyms lack. I mainly use free weights, and there are plenty of those. I do wish they’d add some 200 lbs. + dumb bells because the maximum of 160 doesn’t do a whole lot for my bent over rows, but have switched to using barbells for that exercise. The staff are friendly and sympathetic to my plight and they don’t stare at me like I am a beast in the zoo when I am working out, which is not normal since most of them are fairly young. I fancy myself a powerlifter, so the one suggestion I could make for improvement is heavier weights, ‘practical strength equipment’ like tractor tires, pull sleds, and an outdoor lifting area for this particular type of training.

I had my membership automatically withdrawn from my debit card every month, and actually forgot I even had the membership. Well 4 months ago I moved out of Temple, and my membership continued to be withdrawn, which is my fault for not paying better attention. Then, last month I got a new debit card and got a call from a girl at Gym X telling me my monthly dues wouldn’t go through. I told her that I’m sorry I forgot about the membership and that I didn’t live there anymore and to go ahead and cancel the membership. She said it would automatically cancel since my card wasn’t up to date… which would make sense, since I’m PAYING for the NEXTMONTH and if they didn’t get a payment the logical thing to do would be to CANCEL the membership. Well I just got a call from ABC Financial(the collection company for GymX) saying I owe for last month and next month, and will continue racking up a bill until I can get back to Temple and sign a paper. after signing this paper will my membership end 30 days later. This is a complete BS way to do business. Once you stop paying on a month to month membership it should cancel. And requiring people to be there in person to sign paper, no matter how many hours away they are is ridiculous. It’s 2016 in 2 days, but GymX conducts business like it’s 1970. #WhatsAfax #EmailFreeLike73

Not a bad place to workout. Building needs some overdue maintenance. Use some of that $ 35 annual fee to buy a new router!

I had a one week pass and decided to try it out. I can’t say I was 100% disappointed. Although, for the price they are charging, they seriously need to remodel the place. Women’s restroom/locker room looked worse than a women’s locker room at a public high school. For the most part the exercise machines and equipment were good. Scale was broken. They also have four or five tanning machines(I did not use, so I cannot review). Gym X is kind enough to provide cotton towels to those who need them for wiping their sweat, before, during and/or after workout. But they probably should have used it to clean the machines, instead, Seriously, 95% of the time I was there, customers NEVER wiped down ANY machines or equipment, even after profusely sweating on them. Staff members do not enforce this policy, either. Staff is very courteous and knowledgeable. Always willing to stop engaging in conversation between each other to answer any questions you might have after you’ve been waiting for more than 10 minutes for them to notice you… with a smile of course! They offer a complimentary session with a personal trainer who based upon your lifestyle, will get you started on a a fitness routing that is tailored to you. Ask for Jessica. There’s slim picking in Temple when it comes to gyms. And between Gold’s Gym, Anytime Fitness, Field House, The Summit and even TC, this gym was like the ghetto of all of them, except that despite the lack of consideration in regards to proper gym etiquette from the other customers, these people who I know personally are citizens are very well established in regards to financial terms here in Temple. Here’s an idea next time, Gym X: instead of spending money on a business nest door, invest in training your employees the art of keeping a gym clean, regardless if you have a house keeper once or twice a week.

Great management, good gym. They could easily be a 4.5 if the had more than one poor quality water fountain. The one looooow quality loooow pressure water fountain stays broken.

I love the fact that there is a Women’s section separated from the main gym area. Its small, but I went there for an entire year and I never had a problem with it being too packed to where I could use equipment. I moved about 3 months ago, so I’m not sure if its changed, but overall it was a very clean and had a lot of equipment. They offer tanning, but I’ve worked at a tanning salon before, and those beds are not where you want to go if you want a good tan. They have a Cardio Movie Room which is GREAT! I was a HUGEFAN of that space! Pricing is VERYREASONABLE! If I ever moved back I would definitely be a returning customer.

Perfect gym if you like paying for services not used! My membership expired in January and it is now June and the continue to charge me monthly. Not to mention the annual fee that is no where on my contract that they are charging me. You want to talk to someone about this? You better free up your day because they will not do anything over the phone, you have to come in. So Pissed!

Again this place does offer the LOVE/HATE relationship no one likes. They have lots of equipment and a movie room which is great could use more machines but it works. The womens room is great. It is bes to go during no peek hours cause it can be pretty crowded and if you don’t like waiting for machines then it can be frustrating. I have found that it is great to go with a friend time goes by so fast. They also offer after hour work out, the only thing is that it just does not have a lot of equiopment as the rest of the gym does. They also offer classes which is good and they have hard core training(which i will not be attending I am too chicken). This is a great gym!

This gym is pretty nice. I’m here about everyday. The equipment is up to date. The staff is really nice and the place is always pretty clean. The only down side is that it can get really crowed around the peek times and its hard to get your workout done. Also I wish they would keep the main gym open during after hours or put more free weight equipment in the VIP area. Overall I really like it here and is the best gym in the area that I’ve found so far.

I have a love/hate relationship with this place. The Pros: 1. Great personal training staff, I see Don Yeager and I think he is wonderful. In the past 3 weeks he has really helped me to transition back to a healthy lifestyle. I think he is fabulous and would rate him 5 stars. 2. Lots of equipment to use 3. Separate room for women only to workout in 4. workout movie theater room 5. darling sweet girls that work at the front desk. They know your name and treat everyone very well The cons: 1. Management seems to lack organizational skills 2. They have had a pending grand opening for over 3 weeks 3. Now you have to be a VIP member to use the new equipment 4. No workout classes are offered Overall, I really enjoy going to this place. I think the staff is very friendly and the personal training rocks. As soon as the management works its kinks out I think this place will be great.
