Discounting the dated décor, Dairy Swirl is the cream of the crop in Berks County. When Seals and Crofts are on the in-house play you might as well be eating Cho-Cups in the 70’s.

Love Shell’s. Good fresh food better than fast food and cheaper too. One our favorite places to go as a family.

Mmmmmm! There’s a bathroom outside for when you are eating your sundae like a starved cavewoman and happen to slop chocolate ice cream all down the front of your white dress. Hypothetically speaking, of course ;-) Big selection of ice cream and soft serve flavors, and big portions(I am a huge eater and couldn’t finish my medium sundae). They only had one flavor of frozen yogurt, though, so don’t come here expecting a big selection of fro-yo. Toppings were standard but really tasty. You can make a sundae with your own combinations or choose one of their pre-designed sundaes(e.g. CMP). They also have a freezer with things like ice cream sandwiches and chocolate dipped frozen bananas. Plenty of seating inside and there are a couple of bench tables by the golf course where you can eat too.

I grew up nearby Dairy Swirl and hadn’t been there in over a decade. I went back and tried a cho cho. I was a little scared to try it b/c I have such great memories of it & I was afraid that it wouldn’t live up to my expectations. Well, I was delighted to find out that it is just as good as I remember it! They have the best soft serve. My son had peanut butter. As a family of four, we each got a treat and the bill was under $ 10! You cannot beat the price & the quality. Where I live now, we are surrounded by fro yo chains. I think a small at Pinkberry with one topping costs over $ 5! I can’t wait to go back to Dairy Swirl. The only thing I really miss from my youth is the Centipede arcade game that used to be there.

Want me to write a full-paged review of a great ice cream place? No? Good, because I don’t know how. To be honest, Schell’s Dairy Swirl is the best ice cream place in the immediate area. In fact, to me, it makes the Dairy Queen a half mile down the road absolutely useless. Cheap prices, good service, cold ice cream, and a great family environment. Don’t know how it gets much better than that.

I love ice cream!!! Schell’s Dairy Swirl is the place to stop after playing mini-golf next door or just if you have that ice cream craving. Good quality ice cream and shakes. I love the topping selection, yea cashews! I prefer it over the DQ chain.

The Dairy Queen alternative. I think I would go here more often if they had pictures on their menus. It’s hard to tell what some of the creatively named things are. However, the taste is just as good as DQ, and they’re open all year. My girlfriend worked here in high school, and they used to always use this disgusting glass cleaner on the doors at night. That smell permeated the entire place and always turned my stomach. They seem to not do this anymore, which is good.
