Worst dye job I’ve ever had. I called a few places in Terre Haute yesterday looking to get in somewhere at the last minute after some plans fell through. I work a lot so don’t always have time to get my hair done unless something like this happens. The woman on the phone was very gracious and was able to squeeze me in. When I got there I was immediately greeted and everyone seemed nice. When I told the stylist I wanted all-over color, she handed me color books and told me to choose what I wanted without even looking at my hair. I thought it was weird, but went with it and chose a color. She went to mix the color – again, without even looking at my hair. Every other time I’ve had my hair colored I’ve had the stylist really look at my hair and try to match the color to what I currently have unless I request otherwise. She put the dye on and let it process and rinsed it out, then told me to go back and sit down while she tidied up. I could tell as soon as I sat down that something was wrong… the roots of my hair(the inch or so that had grown in in the 3 months since my last coloring job) were ORANGE. the rest of my hair was the same color it normally is after having my hair washed. The stylist came back and started cutting without even mentioning that the color was off. I finally mentioned(after coming out of shock) something along the lines of «This looks orange to me at the roots… is that normal?» And she said«Well, let’s let it dry and see how it looks and I’ll have my manager look at it. Hair lightens a lot as it dries.» My hair is DARK. I knew it wasn’t going to look good. Sure enough, when it dried, the roots were blonde and the rest of my hair was the normal dark brown. The manager said they would just lighten the rest of it. Uh… no. I did not pick a blonde dye. I requested that they darken the roots instead and she assured me they would. To the salon’s credit, the roots did darken considerably with the second dye job and it now looks… passable. But I never got an apology or an offer to redo it later if I wasn’t happy, just an attitude that«It’s just light brown, but it looks blonde to you because you’re used to a darker color.» Needless to say, I will not be going back and will be going to another salon in a couple of weeks for a proper dye job.
