A very simple little restaurant. Minimal decorations, but very good food. Mom really liked the catfish and my chicken sandwich was quite tasty. Large portions and very reasonable prices.

This is a local from my area. New place, and wanted to try it out for moms early mothers day lunch. We got buddys special, and it was very good! 2 Huge fillets, 4 delicious shrimp, and oysters.mmmm. The only thing they could of done better was the warm coleslaw. Otherwise it was all yummy! Coming back for oysters shrimp and fish!

Cozy, convenient right of the 20 fwy. It is under new ownership, and my friends just bought it. Come on over and get your fried fish fix!

As of April 4, 2016 Buddy’s has closed. See their Facebook page for details. It’s listed under the name of the restaurant. Just thought I would pass this information along.

Having read some of the reviews that are dated prior to about October, 2015, the ownership of Buddy’s has changed. A delightful couple now own it. We have eaten there probably 6 times and find the food fresh, hot and consistently good. The catfish portions are large; two pieces is plenty. The fried shrimp are good as well. I would recommend this casual eatery.

Stopped by. Awesome family owned new restaurant. The husband is the chef and the wife is adorable. My mom loved her catfish said its light and fluffy. They use a special famous breading.

Good catfish! Owner is very friendly and takes pride in his food and customer satisfaction. That’s getting rare these days. Business was slow and close to closing so I don’t think they were prepared for our party of 7. We had to wait for ice. The location is small but the place was clean. Fresh cut fries and homemade tarter sauce really hit the spot! I will be back if I’m in the area.

I would give this place a 4 star but location is bad & too high for their catfish basket. If you’re going to charge 10.00 a basket, hush puppies, fries & coleslaw should come with the meal. Don’t try to tell everyone your business. UPDATE: This place is no longer in business.

Our first visit was lastnight. Not impressed at all. We had the 4 piece fish /2 shrimp with french fries for $ 10.95. The fish was extremely small, it looks as if they take a normal size fillet and cut it into 4 pieces, the 2 pieces of shrimp were medium size, with a huge pile of soggy french fries. Not to mention the fish and shrimp were very dark like they had been cooked in oil that was used over and over and over again, BURNT oil as we refer to it. The 2 hushpuppies were frozen but tolerable. You have to choose fries or slaw, can’t get both. We ordered one order of slaw to share at $ 2.59 for a half cup. Two sweet teas for a whopping total bill of $ 27.95. I told my husband, what a huge disappointment, that’s $ 27.95 that we will never get back. We won’t be going back…

Wow I was really disappointed after eating here with my family. The 5 star reviews that other people have left for this place must be from family and friends of the owner. Me, and 3 members of my family, paid $ 50 for maybe $ 10 worth of food. The fish portions are EXTREMELY small(2 – 3 bites each maybe?) and the shrimp are small as well. With my order I received a small container of something pink and finally realized that it was coleslaw! I asked the girl at the counter about it and she said that it is made with rasberries which makes it pink… YUCK! I wish these guys all the best but me and my family agreed that we will not be returning to this establishment. If you really want affordable seafood in Terrell, and don’t want to leave hungry, go to Fat Daddies just a mile or so south of Walmart right off of 148. They have way bigger portions, the food is awesome and it’s way cheaper! What sucks is that they have not registered their restaurant with Unilocal so I cannot leave them a 5 Star review!

Okay, wait a minute, Unilocal says that this place has 2 — 5 star ratings. Im not so sure that this is the same restaurant that I ate at off 34 and Highway 20 in Terrell. A booth for the 3 of us, and a craving for«Fish and Chips» …turned to a regretful, and expensive decision. .We asked«How big are the pieces of fish ?» The nice lady from the kitchen said«Oh they are big» …Ugh not quite. They are a 1 inch long triangle, my son claimed that maybe 2 would consist of a whole piece,. So we got a 6 piece basket for $ 9.95 .(included soggy fries and a pair of hush puppies) But wait there is a punch line here… Wanna have some fun, try the $ 2.59 cent 4 ½ oz serving of Pink Mystery Slaw… did I mention it hand a handwritten date on it from two days before.(that should have been my 1st warning) Oh, and its pink… really. The lady failed to warn us that we spent $ 7.50 on 3 tubs of 2 day old pink stuff, And I tried, no really. Im daring like that. Well, back to the fish — The Louisiana Fry mix was crunchy and it disguised the under cooked texture enough for us to actually eat it, …so in summation… I will give a star for the $ 1.79 soda fountain(Mixtures were correct, at least that was right) and I will consider the hush puppies tolerable, because If those helped everything else that didnt stay down. And the punch line I promised you… 3 people get a snack for $ 19.00. and as we were leaving disappointed I heard who must the owner claim«I’m not making enough money doing what I’m doing as it is to afford paying a waitress what she wants to work here» when a young girl asked about the hiring sign in the window. — so finally — its clean, its new, its not going be somewhere I eat again. Thanks !

Best catfish, shrimp and fries. To top it off, their cole slaw and dipping sauce are the bomb! Prices are reasonable and portions are just enough. We drive 40 minutes for Buddy’s.

Every now and then you take a chance on a place and it pays off big time, and this was definitely one of those times! The best catfish I’ve had in a very long time. The perfect blend of spices in the breading, and smaller sliced filets make this a flavor fiesta!!! The handmade hush puppies are, without a doubt, the best I’ve ever had. Oh, and when they recommend the Cole Slaw, do yourself a favor and listen!
