We are traveling through Texarkana from Houston on our way to Missouri tonight. We stopped by Copelands because it is close to the hotel we are staying at and we are tired from the drive and ready to eat. We walked in the door at 8:28 pm. We chose this restaurant because we wanted good food and not fast food.‘the restaurant was pretty empty and the workers were standing in a group in the bar. We had noticed the restaurant closed at 9pm. After years of waiting tables myself, I was sympathetic of the workers and thought we would eat quickly and get back to our hotel. We stood at the hostess check in longer than we should have needed to for a nearly empty restaurant. When the hostess finally came, you could clearly see that we were not welcome there. She said, «we close at 9:00» and I responded«it is 8:28». With no niceties or apologies she told us curtly that she would not seat us. I hope the manager reads their reviews. I have waited tables, I understand the feeling, but being rude and sending away customers, and there was another group right behind us, 30 mins before closing is not good business. Doing in a rude fashion is just stupid. Apparently all the bad reviews for Copeland’s noting their bad service were well deserved. We will never stop again.

Firstly, let me start off by saying, I am originally from the New Orleans area(spent majority of my life there). That said, I semi-sorta grew up eating Copelands and went here with extreme expectations. This location is an odd one. Outside looks like any other Copelands, inside however you find an expansive bar area and a cramped dining room. The odd thing here was as I walked in there were patrons leaving quite upset that the bar wasn’t serving alcohol, at all. I’m thinking to myself, Copelands is(at least back home) pretty famous for their drinks, wonder what happened. The bar area was empty and I was seated at a booth in the dining room. It personally doesn’t bother me much, but I can see where many may take issue with the cramped setup of the dining area. I could literally high-five the two closest tables. Servers having to do this odd weaving to tend to their tables just felt off. On the plus side, the service here was great. Food came fairly quick as well. The food was cooked properly, however more bland than usual. Simply not the way it tastes back home. I ordered the Chicken Alfredeaux and tried the new crawfish cheese fries. I don’t think the fries were topped with the correct items(minus the crawfish) however it was still tasty none the less. Overall, this place is solid, just not one I would recommend for claustrophobics. I don’t know the situation with the alcohol, but I would have been some upset had I brought my co-worker whom which I had been hyping up the legendary«Crash n Burn» whom which has never had one and we got turned away. Seeing as the majority of places I tend to find in the area are 95% burgers and pizza, this is a nice change of pace.

This place is awesome. Some of the previous reviews mentioned not good service, but I had a great experience here tonight. The bartender was very friendly and helpful. I also noticed the staff helping each other out when things got busy. I was very impressed with the service, and the food. I got chicken alfredo and it was by far the best chicken alfredo I’ve ever had.

Well, after 1.5 hours of sitting at the table and waiting for our order to be taken, then another .5 hours of waiting for our food, I haven’t yet had the chance to say how I feel about the food. I’d also like to comment on how the tea is but I haven’t gotten it yet. I do have silverware but that is because a member of our party went to get it while we were waiting to order. This has been so painful that some members of our party had to leave to take their kids home to take naps.

Overall the food isn’t bad. The service leaves a little to be desired, but the wait staff was friendly and our food came out reasonably quickly. The staff does not appear to be trained very well as servers do not know what items to recommend or even what is and isn’t available — lots of out of stock items. The only other negative I have is the amount of non-fried options. There is little balance when it comes to fried vs non-fried as everything is battered or heavily sauced.

Great restaurant from Nola. Food is priced a little higher then the other restaurants, but the flavors are so much better. Make sure you leave room for dessert! My favorite is the white chocolate bread pudding.

The service sucked hard, the food was edible and the dessert was delicious. Not recommended

Just passing through and after a long day’s drive we wanted something different and good. Unilocal reviews either loved or hated this place. We loved it. The service was excellent. They were attentive to us. When a cloud of «smoke» rolled by our table from someone vaping, a server immediately came and asked if we were bothered by it. We weren’t. The food was excellent. We both had the Fresh Fish New Orleans. A large piece of very tender red fish with a creole sauce that included shrimp and andouille sausage. Not overly spicy so a little hot sauce helped. Very satisfied with the experience. Only criticism would be that the cocktails were very small for the price. Wine list was well balanced and reasonable. Hope everyone has the same experience we did. We’ll go back next time we’re driving through Texarkana.

So it’s Mother’s Day and we knew it would be a busy day and potentially a long wait to get a table. So in order to cull the wait we called a day in advance to make a reservation. They happily took our name and number and made the reservation for 12:45. When we arrived at the restaurant they informed us that they do not take reservations on weekends or holidays. They informed us that the cook took the reservations and he didn’t know they don’t accept reservations. I explained they had our name and phone number and it would have been nice if they would have called and explained the mix up. They looked at us with a blank stare and told us the wait was 45 min. Without so much as a sorry or anything. So we had to wait 45 min. just to get a table. We then waited at least 20 min. before we finally flagged down a waitress to take our drink order. At this time I almost walked out but I had already invested over a hour and just wanted to get some food. The whole experience left me with such a bad taste in my mouth that not even the best food could have washed it down. I told my wife I will never eat at this Copeland’s again.

Copeland’s is actually one of the best restaurants in all of Texarkana. But since it cost more than the average restaurant in Texarkana, most people consider it less stars. I order the eggplant parmigian and it’s amazing everytime. Save room for cheesecake.

Judging this Copeland’s location based on food alone would not be fair since I am getting over a cold and my taste buds still aren’t fully intact. However, I can judge them on service. And I would have to say Copeland’s rates at the bottom. After you are seated and given your drinks quickly, you are pretty much on your own. They lull you into a false sense of comfort by bringing your drinks so quickly, making you believe the rest of the service will go as smooth. Wrong. The server was inept and inattentive. He never offered nor asked if we needed drink refills. I watched as the patrons around me complained about slow service and incorrect orders. Not one genuine, understandable apology was offered.

Well goodmorning everyone, snowed inn in dallas at circle 6 nice people and rooms, so i thought i would let yall know that Copelands rating has dropped even more with the Rush Family. Reason being the last review and complaint i had sent to them was in november and at this time, we have not received an apology. So with that said i’ll drive to longview to the«Cajun Steamer» since they care about their customers there, unlike the People at «COPELANDS»…

Copeland’s is a decent small chain restaurant. I have been to 3 other locations besides this particular restaurant. This location is a bad representation of the brand. Copeland’s food is usually highly flavored and cooked to perfection. But this Texarkana restaurant doesn’t follow through at all. Very bland, cooked to death, clueless staff, and major parts of the menu are not available. I felt like I was eating in a hole in the wall mom/pop with the chef that was trained in prison.

My fiancé and I chose Copeland’s in Texerkana to host our engagement party. I was very excited to chose a restaurant that offers a variety of generous entrees as well as appetizers. However the service was horrible! And in my opinion that’s being nice because it was way beyond unacceptable. We arrived a hour early to set up as well as make sure the room was prepared to our liking. First of all the room was not reserved although I called a week in advance. On top of that just to use the room there is a $ 100 deposit that cannot be used towards your meal. Our party consisted of 32 guest which is well beyond what they are capable of handling… they did not assign a server or two to our room. It took over a hour to bring out our food. One of the waitress, which seemed to be the person in charged, was rude and only came around when we went to find her. While waiting for our meals we never were offered a refill. I had to go request refills. The only good thing about the experience was when we ordered appetizers it was delivered quit quickly. Last but not least closing out the tickets was a nightmare. It took approximately another hour. My guest were so frustrated and ready to go. If you are considering dining at this restaurant please be advised they are not capable nor properly staffed to accommodate such large parties. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone! It was awful!!!

Walked in at 12:06 on Sunday. At 12:50 we still had no food. «Kitchen got backed up»? Finally asked for crackers to eat while I continued my wait. At 1:02 we left.

Tonight I did something I have never done before. I actually walked up to the manager to provide feedback before I walked out of the restaurant. After 50 minutes of sitting at the table, I had asked for bread 3 times, but still had no bread. Still no silverware, even if the food had arrived(35 min after ordering) but was returned because it was cold. The sad thing is, the food tastes good at the restaurant, but the service is so far below expectations, that I have a hard time putting it into words.

Only a two cause service was ok and the penthouse salad is super. We have been here half a dozen times and after the first visit it has gone down. Main thing last night was the awful catfish it was that big thick muddy kind like you get from brazil not the cAtfish i like. Disgusting. The shiner on tap wasnt cold enough and it was stale. Sides are less than superflavorful mac and cheese is sad. What a shame get some new management, get some american catfish heck david beards catfish is better. Get some more variety if beer i never drink bud, miller wheres alll the good stuff like sam adams, fat tire, gimme some craft on tap

We went here on a coin toss between amigo’s the Mexican place next door and we were glad we landed on here. The atmosphere is really nice, when you first come in there are a lot of water fountains that brings you straight to the bakery. Once in you are in there is a dimly lit seating area with a wonderful mural and interesting and dark wood décor. (There was one review below that complained about crampness, the place isn’t cramped, it’s intimate which makes sense since it’s fashioned from a New Orleans eatery which. .. are all very intimate. Me and my partner both have ‘girth’ and didn’t have any issues in the booths, but they also have tables that you are more then welcome to sit at.) The appetizers are interesting, we settled on the spinach dip, but the twist is the dipping item is seasoned fried bow tie pasta. It was pretty novel, and enjoyable to eat. We both ordered the classic center cut, so I can’t really gage how ‘authentic’ the cuisine is as far as the staple dishes like jumbalaya and creole. But! The center cut with blue cheese on top was VERY tender and cooked perfectly. It comes with a side of you choice and a buttery biscuit like bread roll. The red beans and rice has a very savory meaty flavor to them, and the mashed sweet potatoes were of course sweetened lightly, so not too sweet. The waiter was excellent, he had a good eye and caught a stray lemon seed in my drink in passing and quickly took it away for a new one. He was also very patient and explained our options to us. The only complaint is that the place is mildly pricey for what it is. But not by much. I would probably rate this place 4.5 stars if I could for to that, but other then that, it was a very welcomed retreat from the road.

I was so impressed with Copeland’s! Our waitress was very nice and answered all the questions we had since it was our first time being there. She told us about her favorites and what was most popular. She even brought out a little cup of the mashed sweet potatoes so that we could try it before we ordered. We all enjoyed what we ordered. Save room for dessert because the cheesecake is amazing.

From booth to bill it was all wrong. The booths are cramped. If you have any girth at all, don’t bother. You will embarrass yourself or your girlfriend. I can’t believe a beautiful place like this would have such a glaring flaw. The calamari was cut into thin rings which makes for a high percentage of crust to meat. It’s OK if you like fried batter. The blackened red fish was too salty and very dry, on its way to being fish jerky. The crab cakes didn’t seem to have any crab. I hate to be picky, but… We ordered no drinks, yet the bill was nearly $ 70 with tip for two. For $ 35 we expect something different, but for $ 70 we expect something excellent. It was different, but it wasn’t good, and I will not risk $ 70 to try it again.
