I will absolutely be back. Joel was ridiculously patient with me during the creative process. It was my first tattoo, so it took me a bit to land on what I wanted, and I asked a crazy amount of questions. I felt 100% prepared when I walked in to get my tattoo, and felt confident in the artwork Joel had created. The studio was super Zen and peaceful. I never felt uncomfortable or anxious– important for a first tattoo experience. I sat for 5 hours, and Joel constantly checked in with me and allowed for plenty of stops for water and walking. He was also very flexible with the session-making it very clear that we did not have to finish the entire tattoo in one sitting– in the case that I got uncomfortable. We powered through the 5 hours– because Joel put me at ease-and is amazing at what he does. Let’s talk about the final product. Amazing. We made some small adjustments to the design once Joel met me in person, but for the most part the size and colors were taken right off of the original watercolor. There were no surprises when we checked in regularly with a mirror, and when I saw the final product, I was thrilled. Joel is a really unique and special artist. I wouldn’t expect someone who is so unbelievably good at painting watercolor to also(lucky for us!) be such a talented tattoo artist. The next investment I make in body art will probably be Joel-again. Side note: Please set realistic expectations when you choose any tattoo artist. Any time an artist is taking something as complex as watercolor and transferring it to needle and ink on skin– you should expect some adjustments or modifications. Your tattoo artist is a person, not a machine.

Just had an awesome session with Joel Wright in Texarkana. By far the best tattoo experience I’ve ever had. Joel is professional, patient, and gave a lot of helpful tips. He would be great for first timers and people with multiple. He started my piece as a work of art and then turned it into a one of a kind tattoo. Got to meet his family and enjoyed spending time talking with everyone there. Check his work out and contact him. You will not regret it.

I wanted a pretty watercolor tattoo. I researched Joel Wright and loved his examples! First off, he will charge you $ 300 for a deposit and his artwork of your tattoo… NOTWORTHIT! Then he charges you $ 200 an hour to have the tattoo done… NOTWORTHIT!!! I will say the drawing he did for me was beautiful. However, after getting the tattoo I left the parlor in tears… The tattoo he drew on me looked similar but not at all like the painting.. And not at all worth the price I paid for it. In fact, Joel hasn’t even posted pics of the drawing compared to the tattoo on any of his websites yet … And I think the above reason is why. Not good work. It makes me sad looking at it now… And I’m trying desperately to find someone to fix it. All I’m saying is that the artwork you see… Is probably his best examples… But your not seeing all of them… And not all turn out pretty like the ones I saw… Or they may not turn out like the picture he will draw for you. I would definetly not recommend him.

Joel Wright first painted then tattooed exactly what I asked for. He went above and beyond to make me look amazing. Check out his website for original artwork and prints and follow him on facebook to see the amazing talent and expression he is capable of using.
