I came in late, and apologized to the hostess who sat me very quickly and courteously. A young man named«M» came and took my drink order and I asked if I could put in an appetizer bc I knew I came in late, about 50 minutes prior to closing. He recommended a few main dishes and I was ready to order them once my waiter, «J» was to arrive at my table. He didn’t arrive until about five minutes later after my drinks and the complimentary chips and tasty salsa arrived. «j» rushed by my table, gave me no greeting and took my opened menu bc I was ready to order. I asked him to return and asked him if he knew my name, I knew his. HE thought I had ordered; I told him i ordered my drinks and asked him if he was going to take my order. He gave me his charm and wry smile bc I am sure it worked on so many other people. I stood and asked for the hostess to come over. «m» came over immediately and saw what was about to take place. I thanked the hostess and gave her $ 20 to cover my drinks and my app, more than enough. I then turned and gave«M another $ 20 bc he was so polite and took care of me even though he was not my waiter. I told the hostess with „J“ still trying to charm the customer that they are going to lose business because of „J“. I also told the hostess they should promote „M“ because ehe did what every good server does, make the customer happy. She nodded and understood and apologized. TO which, I kindly replied,“You and „m“ are outstanding people, you get it, it’s about the customer’s experience…(then I looked over at „J“ who had no charm left for me) and told her that „J“ was going to lose business because of him.» She escorted me to the door and said thank you, and I told her thank you for your hospitality and effort. I paid $ 40 to make sure the hostess and«M» did not get screwed. Bill paid for, «M» who was an outstanding young man taken care of, and told the truth about«J» who ran off into the kitchen, probably to blame«M» for being so great to me.

I like the consistency here. It’s typical TexMex with in a nicer atmosphere. Don’t love that it’s part of a strip shopping center as opposed to a stand-alone building but it’s new and feels clean. The place gets very busy in the evenings and on weekends so prepare to wait. So far service has been good and the food is exactly as I expect it to be considering I order the same dish every time at every Abuelo’s — avocado enchiladas.

Great food. Awful service. We sat for 10 minutes before a waiter acknowledge us and then he made excuses why they were behind. We had to flag down our waiter for everything. Every table near us heard the same story. Several waiters called in so they were short staffed. That is the manager’s problem not mine. I would have rather waited for a table than waited at my table. This is the second time we have been to this location and had bad service. We will not be back.

Well, we thought we would give this place another try since our last visit was not that great. The service was horrible! Kayla was our server and was pretty much nonexistent, except for putting in the order incorrectly. The manager was amazing and took care of us most of the time. By the time I got the correct food, my husband was pretty much finished. We have always loved Abuelos, but this one needs some help.

Great Food Abuelo’s has always been one of my favorite Mexican Restaurant. I really dig the Monterey Plater. I’ve been enjoying this plate for over twenty years. The Colony location did not disappoint. The service was good and the food is consistent. I sure wish there was a location in Frisco…

We have been to Abuelo’s a few times and it was great. Last time, though, I ordered a chile relleno and a cheese enchilada. Even though the top of the food was hot and the cheese was melted, the inside was still cold shredded cheese. We called the waiter over and they started a new meal. By the time it came out, I had to have them pack it to go so I could get back to work. They took 50% off my plate as compensation. I thought it would have been a better goodwill effort to discount my plate 100% for essentially ruining my lunch with my husband. I gave one star because the redone food was good, but the experience was a hassle. It will take some time to reconsider going back.

Just another chain Tex-Mex restaurant. Nothing spectacular about this place. A little on the pricey side. Three different types of salsa to choose from and just plain! No heat what so ever! Won’t drive out of the way to eat here again. I had the beef fajitas. The best part was the unlimited guacamole which still needed salt and lime juice. Service was good which is why the 3 star rating or it would have been just 2 stars. This was on Saturday, March 5, 2016.

Food was great and very fresh. The atmosphere and service was excellent. I think this was the best Mexican food I have had in a long time. I highly recommend it.

Abuelo’s might not be your fanciest Tex-Mex experience in DFW, but it’s definitely a reliable one. The décor is on point. I’ve enjoyed almost everything I have had here. This location is very nice and brand new. It’s a replacement for the now closed Lewisville location that my wife and I have frequented. I recommend the fajitas and the margaritas. Abuelo’s is a good choice for us because my wife is not a native Texan and does not enjoy the spicy fare you’re going to find at other good eats like Anamia’s. Abuelo’s caters to both the Tex-Mex fan and the(wimpy) folks who can’t handle the heat.

Great service at a family oriented restaurant. Everything is updated vs. the previous design. Ziosk tablets at the table let you order appetizers, play games and check out. We did all of these and thought the system was great. The menu is huge and the prices are reasonable. As always, the food here is served hot from the kitchen. My fajitas were so hot I could not hold the tortilla for a few minutes! Huge crowd here on A Saturday night. Overflow parking was also full. We only had to wait 15 minutes. Also great for large groups.

We came here for brunch on Valentine’s Day. This is a beautiful restaurant, from the lighting to the décor to the artwork. After a good 15 minute wait, our waiter finally came by with a bowl of complimentary chips and salsa and took our drink orders. The bowl of chips was just broken tiny pieces of tortilla chips. The 3 salsas were fresh but had zero spice to them at all. They brought our spicy bloody mary’s. These were also disappointing, very little spice even though we requested extra spicy. And they came with a skewer of 3 very tiny little olives. Very disappointing for an almost $ 8BM. We started off with the small shrimp cocktail which was just a tiny glass filled with a creamy avocado mayo sauce and a couple of shrimp mixed in. I am not a fan of mayo so was disappointed in this appetizer. I ordered the steak fajitas, they were just ok, nothing spectacular. Their menu boasts that they make their flour tortillas in-house. They didn’t taste very homemade and were pretty meh. The charro beans were flavorless but tasted much better when mixed with the lime cilantro rice. My husband ordered the filet mignon medallions with the bacon wrapped shrimp. He said it tasted fine but the portion was so small, he left still hungry. I’ve read the rave reviews of this place but if you take away the beauty of this restaurant, everything else was below average. Very disappointing.

I had never been to this location since it was brand new. The décor is so incredible that you quickly forget you’re in a major retail area. We sat at the bar to have a drink before dinner and the bartender was really cool and poured some of the best margaritas on the rocks I have had in quite some time. Dinner did not disappoint either. Once we were at our table, the service was as good as I’ve seen in a major 4 star restaurant. The menu was more diverse than I remembered with fish and other non traditional tex mex which I enjoy. My date ordered a dish recommended by the manager and he could not stop talking about how much he loved it. I will definitely go back to this Abuelo’s again.

While I miss our Lewisville location, this restaurant is not that far for us. The food is good and nothing has changed in that respect. However, the décor seems to be hip and a lot more current. The seating areas are really nice and you feel like you are in a nice fancy restaurant. We hope to continue our tradition of coming to Abuelos at this location.

We’ve been eagerly awaiting the opening of the new Abuelo’s after Lewisville’s location closed. We had a great experience from start to finish. The décor is very different than the one in lewisville. Overall, it was a fabulous dinner. Wait staff was very helpful and attentive.

Been there a couple times and love the different sauces and the food. Drinks are pretty good! Decent strength, but too much lime. If you get a Mojito, recommend upgrading to a darker rum. Good Mojitos are hard to find, though. Lots of choices beyond the normal tex-mex. Looking forward to trying more.

The wife and I came in to try out the new location. The outside is a bit more plain than their other locations, but the inside is spectacular! Whoever did the décor should be commended. Service was wonderful as we have come to expect from Abuelo’s, prompt and enthusiastic about their new digs. We had a coupon for a free appetizer and tried their nachos. Holy giant portion Batman! Plenty for us to share and then take home for snacking later. When our entrée’s arrived we were blown away as well. Great stuff. Wife had the enchiladas de Cozumel and I tried the stuffed chicken medallions. I recommend them both highly. In closing, we’re happy to have this new option in our neck of the woods and plan to come back regularly.

Our server R****** was great. Really on top of everything. The food was good, but was disappointed in the amount of beef in the steak fajitas. Definitely will go back, just may not have the fajitas there.

This location is brand new and you would never know! The service is excellent, the food is spectacular and management is there to make sure everything is perfect! The bartender, Tony, is a pro, and our server, Reggie, was fantastic. The manager Beth introduced herself and made sure our experience was amazing. This is a great place with great food! You will not be disappointed!
