Orient Cafe

Food is okay, very cold and awful décor. I wouldn’t recommend this place but I can’t say it’s terrible. I got the general tso chicken and my mother got the Szechuan chicken. The two sauces were the same but the Szechuan had pepper flakes in it. The good thing is they use only white meat in the dishes. All and all, it’s just okay.

What the Orient Café may lack in ambience it more than makes up for through their food and customer service. We have been going to the Orient for over a decade and Jim the waiter and the owners (always working hard in back) make each visit a nice experience. The dinner and lunch combinations are fairly priced and usually large enough that you always need a to go box. Enjoyment Rating — A Favorite Place for The Food and Service

Delicious food! We were skeptical to try it out because it looks pretty janky from the outside but glad that didn’t prevent us from trying it out. The inside is very clean and comfortable and the service was good. Me and my fiancé went there for lunch and he ordered the orange chicken and I ordered the general tso’s chicken. The batter was fresh and crispy and most importantly the chicken was not dry! They serve the perfect amount of food so you can finish it all and be stuffed. We recently tried the Canton Wok in The Dalles and also enjoyed that place but we both agreed that overall the Orient Café tastes better. You will get a little more food at the canton wok but I felt their chicken was dry and the egg roll was way over cooked. I’m not an egg roll expert (I usually will choose a crab rangoon over an eggroll) but it seemed like the egg roll at canton wok was stuffed with stuffing (as in the stuff you have at thanksgiving) and seasoned with chicken flavored ramen noodle seasoning. The egg roll at orient café was filled with fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection! Overall, don’t let the outside look of Orient Café fool you and give it a try!

Mediocre food. Very much in need of redecoration. Run down inside and out. Service good. I am in no hurry to go back.

If you like Chinese food with gravy, then this is your spot. However the BBQ pork was dry, the egg roll was filled with gravy and the pork fried rice just looked and tasted like brown rice. The search for good Chinese food in the gorge continues.

For a ran down place it has grate food and the waiter was nice. Batter then the other Chinese place in town .if going must try the crab puffs.yummy.

Their lunch specials are a great deal, had the beef and broccoli and it was super fresh. It came with soup, rice, two deep fried won tons and a veggie egg roll, all for under $ 6!
