Excellent food and service! I had the tuna melt and roasted red pepper soup. Delicious. I’m definitely coming back here.

Slammin breakfast at this packed hidden gem in The Dalles, Oregon. Thank you Unilocalers for highlighting a place I would never have known about otherwise

Great décor… but, it’s very noisy all the time. No vegan options but they gladly will alter menu items for customers. The food is tasty, but even eating special orders, my stomach gets very upset after eating there, and that’s very rare for me. Beautiful pastry items that look better than they taste. I want to really love this place, but I don’t.

The pastries are great. The food is good. The customer service is ok. Was disappointed with a order I placed to be picked up on Christmas Eve. I went to get it and they gave it to someone else. To late to make another Santa bread.

I stopped in with my mom on a bitter cloudy day in the Dalles. This bakery was the perfect little bit of sunshine we needed. Inside, we were greeted with a smile and offered which ever table we desired. The menu boasted a variety of delectable sounding meals, from breakfast items to soups and salads. Our server was very friendly, and gave us time to look over the menu. I ordered the turkey-date sandwich, and she had the corn beef sandwich. There was only one other couple in the restaurant, and our sandwiches came out reasonably quickly. My turkey and date was done exquisitely. I could detect all of the ingredients, and the brie was light and fresh. The potato salad was a nice addition, and I almost couldn’t finish my plate.(Almost.) Before I left I chose a pastry to share, and settled on a squarish item that looked like a chocolate dream. Layers of creamy chocolate and chocolate cake and a chocolate ganache compiled to make anyone grab the nearest fork and dig in. My mom’s eyelashes fluttered as she took the first bite, her eyebrows raised in anticipation. We both gobbled it down until only a shadow of chocolate remained on the plate. Overall, a wonderful place to enjoy a reasonably priced meal with a lot of thought and love exerted into the production of the food. Thank you!

This is the place I bring family and friends when they come to visit. If there is one place that puts The Dalles on the culinary map this is it.

Loved the omelettes here! Beautiful little place that we stumbled upon when we were getting ready to go to painted hills. If I am back to The Dalles I will be back here.

First off the staff is great. They really make you feel welcome. We stopped off two separate times for breakfast. Once on our way to a 3 day wedding in Condon and on our way home. Our waitress went out of her way to make a party of 6 happy. Coffee and pastries were flying to and fro. My bff had the salmon hash and I had the double meat omlette with butternut squash. It was so good we ordered the same thing on our next breakfast. I wish I could remember the name of the waitress.

Lovely atmosphere, sweet waitperson, GREAT food! We’re so glad they are open in Sundays when The Dalles is mostly closed. We had Risotto Cakes with Poached Eggs, which was served with browned potatoes/squash and a croissant, and the Baked Eggs. Both were very good and quite hearty.

Very good food, and very fun ambiance! We stopped here on our way to Portland and would stop here again! I only omit one star because our service wasn’t fantastic, it seemed like they were a little understaffed. Still very good though, and they were doing their best! We would go again!

What a wonderful start to our honeymoon! Walking through the door, our customer service expectations were less than stellar. There were about 2 seats left available and the place looked chaotic. This chaos, however turned out to be a carefully oiled machine of brilliant service and delicious food. My wife had several questions answered by our lovely server who was detailed and knowledgable about the best menu items. Upon receiving the meal, we raved about how well each item was put together. Each of us said how willing we would have been to pay another $ 5 a plate for what we chose. The ambiance was quaint and the price more than reasonable. We are definitely stopping by on the way back and all that come through The Dalles should make a special stop here.

My boyfriend and I stopped by on our way from the Cascade Locks to Maryhill State Park, based on the good reviews. This place did not disappoint. I had the berry French toast and he has an egg bake fish and both were scrumptious and filling — to the point where I DIDN’T go for the divine looking piece of chocolate cake that had been calling my name. We’d definitely go back. Service was attentive, coffee was good and strong, and the place was clean.

This is the best breakfast I have ever had. Baked Eggs a la Francais is my new favorite breakfast meal.

Driving from Spokane to PDX and seriously needed caffeine and sugar. Finally found it, no thanks to the GPS only to find out they were closing. Even so, we were told we could get our coffee to go. How great is that? Not only did we get a most delicious cup of coffee, she gave us pastry to help keep our sugar up for the drive home. That too was delicious. I hope we are able to stop again. It is definitely worth finding.

On a 8 day road trip, this was by far the best meal we had. Four guys with hearty appetites were satisfied by the proportions, but it is not the reason to eat here, the food tasted amazing. For the coffee drinkers in the group the couldn’t stop raving about their beverages, even days later. On the food we ordered, most of us ordered from their breakfast selections, and all were very pleased. So, if you find yourself out near The Dalles, you MUST eat here.

Excellent pastry selection, all French as is to be expected. Monte Cristo on the menu was the correct preparation not like these places that call a grilled ham n cheese a Monte Cristo. My café au lait was lovely although I did wish they had used a stronger roast. To be fair not everyone likes dark roasts like I do. Definitely coming back.

We come here often, the food is always great as well as the service. We really look forward to the coffee with cream, it’s fantastic. The croissants with raspberry jelly are not be missed as well as the Mediterranean salad, risotto cakes, French onion soup, berry French toast, veggie sandwich. The décor is beautiful, the bakery counter is always packed with specialty treats you can’t find anywhere else. The food and service has consistently been wonderful, whatever time of day. They close at four so there is no dinner hour at this location.

The food was good and the ambiance was fun. To be perfectly clear, the food was over priced. The other comments about the staff being somewhat cold is kinda sorta true. They weren’t arrogant, but they certainly aren’t warm, which is odd, if you ask me. Given all the comments about this issue, you’d think management would go way out of their way to correct this issue. Bottom line, I don’t feel compelled to return.
