Really cool little gem in Sea ranch… Totally a local spot. They take all plastic cards and are pretty speedy. Locals say the Calzones are the best they ever had. See the picture I added for proof. If your ever here in the rain this is a great place to warm up

Good treats. However, you often have to wait in the cold outside. If you don’t arrive super early they will likely be out of most pastries. I kindly pointed out the fact that many people were leaving without the treats they wanted, and the owners exploded on me and starting swearing and telling me to «stick it up my ass» in front of kids whose parents had to cover their ears.

Nothing bad to say about Two fish! A must stop. It’s what I look forward to every sea ranch trip. Best spot for miles and miles for coffee, sticky buns, and sandos before checking the surf. The owners Margaret and Hilla are a delight.

Mmm… delicious! I came here with a friend to pick up breakfast for a bunch of us staying in a Sea Ranch vacation rental and it didn’t disappoint at all! Twofish has a wide variety of different breakfast pastries. Of particular note were the pumpkin bread and cinnamon rolls(with currants). Everyone at the cabin loved the breakfast! It’s in a very cute location that epitomizes the sort of architecture and vibe that I envision when I think of Sea Ranch. I’m definitely coming back the next time I’m in the area.

I very rarely give a review to a place in which I have not eaten, but it’s not because we didn’t try. During a beautiful drive up route 1 on the coast, Sea Ranch was the perfect place to stop for lunch. Twofish received good Unilocal reviews, so off we went. We walk past a half dozen people eating outside, and waited in line behind another women at the counter for 5 minutes or so, while another woman was served food at the counter. While we’re waiting, a woman finally comes over and says«if you’re here to order food, we just ran out». My wife and I chuckled thinking she was just joking. Without cracking a smile, and with a rude tone, she said«I’m serious, we’re out of food.» The locals can keep this one.

We showed up around 9:30 on a regular, old Thursday. We were staying in the area on vacation and made stopping here a priority on our agenda. There was group outside enjoying their breakfast and some conversation inside. We read the reviews and knew there was a chance we were too late, but had to try. We walked in and there was nothing left! A croissant and one other fresh pastry was all I could see. We were devastated. Then the staff told us more was on the way if we were willing to wait a few minutes. They were friendly and helpful. When all was said and done we left with a croissant, lemon poppyseed scone, apricot window pane, and a bag of macaroons. It was all delicious. Definitely recommend stopping by and sampling some of their baked goods.

This is a local place, but the quality of both pastries and coffee is objectively high. It is located in the administrative center of The Sea Ranch, and it might be said that visitors are not treated as well as locals. But most people who have been in/on The Sea Ranch will simply say that Two Fish runs out of its pastries by mid-day, and that it caters to those who know what it is and how it operates. As with most places that offer the best of a class, it’s not about you. Sorry if you pay too much for their pastries(though I find them reasonable), but you might accommodate yourself to making your choices early, and give up on the false notion that you are a special customer. Like I said: it’s not about you.

This place makes me so happy! Thanks Margaret and Hilla for such quality and deliciousness in all your baked goods. One of my favorite things whenever we visit our home in Sea Ranch is my morning stroll to Twofish for a nice cup of coffee and a sticky bun or cinnamon roll or both! The granola and fresh baked bread are also wonderful!

I’m surprised by the reviews speaking of unfriendly staff. We’re not locals, and they’re always nice to us! We visit Twofish every time we’re in Sea Ranch(half a dozen times a year) and it’s definitely a ritual. Sticky buns and morning buns and two americanos! They’re always helpful and polite. Last time we switched it up and got a breakfast calzone – and hold the freakin’ rotary phone. It was good. Can’t wait to stop by on our next visit!

Don’t show up in the last half hour — they close the kitchen early and will only make coffee or serve the few baked goods they have left. We drove 45 minutes to get there at 1:10 before the 1:30 closing time but the staff refused to make us any food. It looks like a great place otherwise and would have liked to try it.

I have to update my review to respond to a few recent reviews that took issue with the service at Two Fish. It seems as though some believe that«regulars» get better service than visitors. I’m not sure what I am… I own a house at Sea Ranch but only come up every month or so for a few days. I’m pretty sure that they don’t recognize me at Two Fish, but who knows? I get the same service as people I know to be regulars. I guess if you’re something of a prima donna you might not like the service… it’s efficient but not warm and fuzzy. I know that the owners know the regulars and will chat briefly with them, but isn’t that what being a regular should entail? Non-regulars certainly are not stiffed or given lower quality goods or overcharged. If you’re looking for Starbucks efficiency, perhaps you do have a valid complaint. But if you’re looking for an honest to goodness local bakery/coffee shop in a beautiful, rural area, you will get exactly what you’re hoping for. And yes, they run out of products fairly early. I got in at 8:45 am today and there were still a few sticky buns and morning buns, but by 9 am I’m sure they were gone. Seriously, people, this isn’t a chain or some huge bakery. I assume that their goal is to make just enough so they have no waste and if they sell out while there are still people coming in, it’s better than having leftovers that go into the trash(along with the costs to produce the goods).

Went to Twofish last weekend to get a big box of pastries for the road. We were looking to drop $ 50+ on baked yum yums and a few large coffees. The reviews and pics looked amazing, so we figured we’d indulge our inner fat kids on our three hour drive home. When we arrived, there was a short line, figured it wouldn’t take very long. The line didn’t move for 5 minutes. The employees stood there chatting with a couple about their weekend events. We stood there for another 5 minutes, no greeting, no eye contact, no acknowledgement that we existed. More people got in line behind us. Still nothing. After 10+ minutes of waiting and trying to catch their eye we decided it was time to go. Bottom line — customer service is nonexistent here. This is a locals only joint, so if you live in Gualala, you’ll love this spot. If you’re a tourist, I strongly recommend you don’t waste your time driving or waiting in line here. I’m all about supporting small businesses, however I’d like to at least be acknowledged before I give you my cold hard cash.

I hate leaving this sad review, but it needs to be said. Yes, they are super friendly … but only if you’re a local, or unless you came in and there was nobody else around that they were forced to help you. The baked goods smelled and looked delicious — too bad we didn’t have any to actually judge for ourselves. This is off the beaten path, and we were very willing to go out of our way and risk coming in to an empty bakery because the reviews were so wonderful. It’s a shame. We came in on a Sunday morning, excited for coffee, pastries, and some yummy snacks to take home with us. Unfortunately, we were never greeted. We were never acknowledged. And we were literally pushed out of the way by others(mind you, my bf is a 6’5″ ginger, so he’s very hard to miss). Initially we thought there was a line. So we waited in it. 5 minutes later, the people in front of us didn’t ever stop talking, and others were going behind the counter to hug the employees. So we made ourselves present in front of the pastries, trying to catch the eyes of one of the 3 employees behind the counter. No luck. So we tried the line again. Nothing. No greeting. No eye contact(however, it would be hard to miss the only brown person in the room and a person that is about a foot taller than everyone else in the place). Then some lady goes up to the register and one of the gals drops what she’s doing to help her. So we got about 6 inches behind this lady so that the girl would at least notice us. No such luck. The lady paid. And the girl walked away. We could tell we weren’t welcome there. What a shame. We were ready to buy one of everything. But now, all they get is a bad review, and we’re out an hour of our time(getting there & waiting there). Don’t waste your time. There are other options with equally great options along the 1.

The only game in town for fresh baked goods is Twofish Baking Company. Prices are unreasonable. The ham and cheese croissants can be used for door stops. I hate to be negative, but there is nothing good I can say about this place except the cinnamon rolls are diabetes in a bun. The place is located off the beaten path in Sea Ranch, CA.

Amazing food in a spectacular location. Everything they make is good, from the morning pastries to the sandwiches and pizzas. Oh, and pie, amazing pie! Get there right when they open or prepare for a long line and prepare for them to run out of things. That’s a good thing though, it means they make what they can make well and when it’s gone it’s gone. I hear they are opening a store front in San Francisco — we will be headed there as soon as they open!

We heard a lot of good things about this place plus this was one of the only place near by we stopped by to grab something to eat after a long hike with kids. Well I should have read the other reviews more carefully ahead if time cause by the time when we arrived at 2, there was nothing left to eat… So we just had ice cream which was yummy, tea, coffee and bread. It was yummy though.

«Hidden gem» would be an understatement to describe this lovely community gathering place tucked into a small and nondescript row of buildings on the«land» side of Highway 1 in Sea Ranch. Given Twofish is the only real dining option in the immediate area except for the Black Point Grill at the Sea Ranch Lodge, it’s a lucky thing that it has so much going for it. The vibe is seriously friendly and unabashedly casual here, with the staff walking around talking to each other and to patrons and making everyone feel like part of the Twofish family. We adored our warm and witty server, and appreciated the freshness and quality of the food. There’s not much of a menu here at dinnertime, and this spot only provides dinner(pizza and salad) a couple of nights a week, so check ahead. We got a tasty chopped salad with creamy herb dressing to kick off our meal. After walking past our neighbors’ table, we couldn’t resist ordering the garlic and rosemary flatbread, which was delicious and complemented the salad perfectly. After the salad and flatbread, out come a white pizza with Italian sausage. The crust was crisp and chewy and toppings worked together very nicely(hello garlic!), the sausage was flavorful, and the ricotta a creamy treat. I had one significant Twofish-related disappointment: I never made it back for their legendary breakfast buns and pastries. Each of mornings I went the ominous«closed» sign swung from the door. As I said, check ahead.

Soooo yummy. This little bakery in the middle of nowhere has delicious espresso and treats. Lovely women run it. Its been in business for ten years. Go early. Pastries fly away fast. We got. there sbout 10:20 and got the last of a few things. A crowd came in about 11 and got the rest. We had an almond croissant, a chocolate croissant, a cinnamon sugared morning bun, and a heavenly slice of ham and gruyère quiche. Omg the quiche… fluffy egg, flaky crust… awesome. All the treats were wonderful. Perfect mochas. By the register the delicious morsels of macaroons dipped in chocolate tempted too much. $ 5 for a bag of six. Mine! Go. Go early. You won’t be sorry.

There’s a Stepford-like vibe to Sea Ranch that honestly spooks me a bit every time I pass by those identical-looking upscale houses and especially that 1970’s-era ram’s head logo emblazoned on the public buildings. The ram horns curl up in what looks like eyeballs stalking your every move on the property. Creepy. Such was the feeling Jamie W. and I had as we were driving up Annapolis Road looking for this bakery. You turn a corner and end up at the strangest-looking strip mall with yes, that ram’s head logo staring at you(see photo). But alas, the bakery. Before walking inside, I was worried that we would be greeted by women with glazed-over faces and Princess Leia hairdos that mirror the ram’s head logo. But no, we were greeted warmly by a female crew that looked to be cleaning up after a morning rush on their goodies. We were there around 1PM, so there wasn’t much left. But what was left was cherce. We decided to try two goodies for about $ 4 a piece. We tried an Apricot Window Pane, a lovely cookie-like pastry with a gloss of fresh apricot preserve that indeed looks like a window pane(see photo). But the showstopper was the most simple, a slice of their Lemon Cake, which was unbelievably moist and amazingly not heavily citrus in flavor(see photo). Unlike Franny’s Cup and Saucer, which we would visit later that afternoon, Two Fish is not so much focused on sweet confections with frosting but more the breads, granola and pastries you like to wake up to if you didn’t have to consider the consequences of the carbs later. It may be worthwhile to stay overnight in Sea Ranch in order to try a bigger selection of their specialty baked goods. Even if it does mean I have to join the ram’s head cult that must exist here. BAKEDGOODS — 5 stars… delicious, buttery… someone stop me! AMBIANCE — 3.5 stars… the bakery is huge, the seating is mostly outside SERVICE — 3.5 stars… certainly friendly enough TOTAL — 5 stars… that lemon cake lingers on my palate
