We were excited to try this restaurant and unfortuantely it fell short for me. It was the smallest venue(that called itself a restaurant) I’ve seen. My shrimp was small and over cooked we ordered a shrimp plate and asked them to make it tacos(the menu has this option) however that is not what I received. The rest of my party ordered some version of grilled fish and enjoyed their food. I doubt we will go back.

Absolutely the freshest fish and shrimp ceviche with great fresh taste that I have ever had. I must if you are in the area to enjoy what these young folks can do.

Best ceviche I have eaten yet! Free beer isn’t bad either. I highly recommend giving this little place a try.

I don’t give too many, if any places 5 stars. This is one of those places where I want to give it 5 stars but I give it 4.5. The only drawbacks are small and restroom outside .5. Let’s get to the 4.5 now. Ordered shrimp tostada, tacos pastor, aguachiles, Puerto Nuevo. My favorite is the tacos pastor. Perfectly seasoned, cooked and balanced. Pineapple with lime, cilantro and onion. Knocked out of the park. Shrimp tostada was good, slightly bland but add the Serrano salsa and perfecto! The Puerto Nuevo was delish-fried shrimp With rice and beans. The Aguachiles with yellow and Serrano really took the dish to another level. If you like it hot, this is the spot. FREEBEER is a plus. I’ve been here twice and would be more often if I wasn’t so lazy to drive from 45&242 all the way here!

Nothing particularly wrong with the food. Menu is confusing and prices high relative to the type/quality of food and service

Loved their salsas! We made our first visit for lunch and the gentleman working the counter was very friendly and went through the menu with us and gave us some suggestions on what to try. My husband and I each ordered a large order(4 tacos) of fish tacos. We had the Puerto Neuvo tacos which were mild and easy to customize with their variety of salsa which(compared to other restaurants we’ve visited in the area) actually had a good heat to them. We also had the Pastor tacos which were great by themselves without any added salsa! Will definitely be back again!

Fish and Camaron is located in the Woodlands just west of I-45 on the North Freeway. This hidden little gem up north has had everyone talking for the past few years. Well, I finally got the chance to see what they were talking about. Let’s just say I enjoyed every minute of this delicious conversation. Having lived in Southern California for the past 10 years, I became familiar with a different style of Mexican Seafood. Not quite the Tex-Mex we are used to here in Houston. At Fish and Camaron, they call it Smart Fresh Seafood. And that is exactly what you get. This cuisine is exactly what the name suggests. It is a lighter form of seafood than the fried versions we are used to. Based on Ceviche, Grilled Fish and lightly-battered fried fish, the food at Fish and Camaron is healthy, light and delicious! Fish and Camaron is in the process of opening their second restaurant in the Woodlands. The location I visited is small, but they are doing big things. The dining area has a few tables and a long bar. There are also a couple of tables outside so you can enjoy a but of fresh air with the ultra-fresh seafood. The guys at Fish and Camaron are serving up another unique concept: their homemade salsas. Over 10 different salsas and counting! This works well, as I found out for myself; I tried every single one! My favorites were the Serrano, Cilantro, Habanero, Tamarindo, Chamoy and Roasted Tomatoes. It’s a great way to allow everyone to savor the flavors they enjoy the most. Dozens of combinations are available with each menu item! Fish and Camaron are famous for their Ceviche and Fish Tacos. If you are not familiar with Ceviche, it is white fish fully cooked in lime juice, then mixed with red onion, olive oil and a touch of serrano pepper. It can be unexpectedly addicting. We started off with a couple of Coronas — they are actually FREE right now(for those who are over 21, of course). We also got Tostadas with a couple of different types of Ceviche. The Tostada is a homemade crispy corn tortilla topped with Ceviche and dressed with shredded lettuce and curly carrots. Crispy and refreshing. I tried a different salsa combination with each bite. I really liked the Tamarindo and Chamoy mixed with the spicier salsa to give it a nice sweet and spicy flavor. An unbelievably messy and delicious treat! We tried a couple of the Ceviche Cocktails. The Vuelve A La Vida Cocktail was a delicious cup full of Ceviche and Shrimp with signature cocktail sauce, chopped tomatoes, cilantro, diced avocado and olive oil. We also enjoyed the Ceviche Cocktail which was the same minus the shrimp. You really must get one of the Ceviche Cocktails, I would recommend the Vuelve A La Vida Cocktail as I am a huge shrimp fan and the more shrimp the better! Next up was the Mixed Aguachiles. Thin-sliced fish and shrimp bathed in Fish and Camaron’s signature«Aguachile» sauce, topped with lettuce, red onion and avocado. I spread it on a tostada and enjoyed it by the spoonful. You can eat Aguachile in a number of different ways and add your favorite salsas, too! It doesn’t get much better than this… just look at the photography. There were two Aguachile Sauces used. The Green Sauce(Serrano, cucumber and lime) and the Orange Sauce(Sriracha sauce, serrano, cucumber, carrots and lime). Both were extremely good. I suggest you get the mixed sauces and taste both robust flavors. The Grilled Fish Tacos are a must! We sampled a couple of different versions that were served up on a hot and fresh corn tortilla. The Pastor Taco had white fish marinated in their signature Annatto seed sauce, grilled to perfection and served with roasted pineapple, chopped onion and fresh chopped cilantro. Really good! The flavors work so well together and the roasted pineapple is what puts it over the top for me. The Chipotle Taco had white fish marinated in Fish and Camaron’s signature Chile Chipotle sauce, also grilled to perfection and served with caramelized onions and fresh-chopped cilantro. Like the pineapple on the Pastor Taco, the caramelized onions are the cause of my ever-so-apparent permagrin. I can’t emphasize enough; this is not your ordinary taco shop. This is chef-driven, casual dining at its best! Now, no Mexican Fiesta is complete without your classic Flan for dessert right? Right on! I didn’t want to rock the boat, as they say, so I was forced to order the Flan. Ha! Flan is a caramel pudding custard dessert with a layer of soft caramel on top. It was homemade, like just about everything else here at Fish and Camaron. This creamy, sweet dessert gave me the adrenaline rush you can only get with the best desserts. Even though I was stuffed from all the great seafood, the Flan was exactly what I needed. What a sweet finish to a wonderful afternoon! I must admit that the Ceviche at Fish and Camaron is the best I have had in Houston this year. It is definitely worth the drive to enjoy this spot.

This place is great! The free beer is not a myth! The food is phenomenal. First time I went, I ordered one taco plate, ate them all, and then, even though I was stuffed, ordered another plate just so I could have that delicious taste. Reportedly they are opening a second location, hopefully it’s bigger to make it easier for more people to eat at once. Best taco place in the area by far.

Fresh Mexican seafood made with great care and authenticity. A must for anyone who enjoys fish tacos and ceviche. Don’t miss the aguas frescas. The owner greets you warmly and over time memorizes your favorites on the menu.

One order of taco pastor comes with two tacos. Ordered the shrimp pastor. they were very delicious. I also got the ceviche tostado which tasted rather fresh. Great job on the flavors, the sauces were also flavorable but some were super spicy!

Small space is the only issue. Very clean, the food is really good! I had some fish tacos and they were absolutely delicious! They have a varied selection of sauces as well which were also tasty. Little pricey, $ 2 for a can of soda… The food is worth the price though.

I don’t know what the chef at Fish and Camaron uses to season the fish for the fish tacos al pastor. All I know is that it’s like being hugged from the inside when you eat it. I actually can’t order tacos al pastor anywhere else now. They just don’t live up to the standard these guys set! I’d love to tell you about the rest of the menu, but I have to keep feeding my addition. The dining room is very small, with most of the seating along the wall on a bar. They close early, meaning you’ll need to come for lunch or a quick early dinner, so the seating is appropriate. Very casual. There are also six or seven homemade sauces strategically placed along the bar. They range from sweet to spicy to acidic; there’s something for everyone. Some are creamy and thick, some are thin. There’s also a tremendous tomato salsa if you aren’t feeling too brave. I’ll tell you this though: every single sauce is money. There are little sample cups near them. Try them out with some fried tortilla strips, then put a little of your favorite one on the tacos. Family run place, nice people who obviously care about their customers. I have to dock them a star for a combination of the cramped dining room(which I could overlook if that was my only complaint) and for the drink situation. Your drink choices are very limited, mostly $ 2 cans of soda, bottled water, etc. They do have frescos, though. Just adding some iced tea with free refills would be VERY welcome.

I do not, repeat, do not eat fish. I ordered the shrimp pastor, but received fish pastor. The owner was very quick to fix, but I said no, as not to waste the food. I tried it and loved it! The fish was tender and fresh, not slimy nor fishy(as I believe all fish to be!). The sauce was fantastic in flavor and amount. I tried five of the sauces, except the three hottest and the bruja. All had a nice heat and flavor. I also had the shrimp cocktail, which I was so glad to be able to order since it does not have onions, as every other restaurant seems to add to theirs. Very fresh and tasty. The place is small, not suited for a large group, but it’s perfect for 2 – 4 sized party. Outdoor seating with umbrellas, which was perfect today. It is also BYOB. Check the hours, as it is family run and closes early(6&7 pm). Great lunch place or takeout on your way home. I will go back for the tostadas and other plates.

This is one of our favorite places. Family run and the food is fresh and very authentic Mexican. Not Tex-Mex. Go for the Vuelve la Vidal you’ll love it. This quick yet healthy establishment is a great concept restaurant. They have a very tight menu of fish/shrimp based food made from authentic Mexican recipes. As well as a few off the menu items like Agua Fresca. Every dish has been great from the fish tacos to the ceviche tostadas. Considering they are dealing with quality seafood the prices are higher than a typical taco shack(which I also love) but well in line with seafood restaurants. The service is friendly and prompt by the owner or his family. Expect to order at the counter and the seating is very limited since much of the business is take out. The atmosphere is vibrant and well lit. So if you do stay to gobble up your food you’ll feel comfortable. Just don’t expect to be able to sit parties larger than 2. When we swing by during our walks with our family and friends we sit outside… obviously not during Houston’s summer. I usually downgrade one star for a small place but the the more than makes up for it.
