Little known fact that Brick Cheese was first made here in Wisconsin and Widmer’s still makes it the original way. The retail outlet is in the same space as the equipment. No frills. No nonsense. There are alot of Brick impostors but Widmer’s is as real as it gets.

Warning, Sunday hours are only April through October? not sure if the sign on the freeway said that. We should of checked Unilocal before driving in as it correctly said they were closed. We will try again next time :)

Great cheese and if you do a tour it’s short but you get to see where the cheese is made and talk to the cheese makers. They also give you a cheese sampler plate and there are plenty of other cheese samples for you to try. My favorite is the traditional brick cheese!

This is a real cheese factory close to WI-41 in Teresa, WI. Great place to take out-of-town guests who want to buy fresh Wisconsin cheese and/or cheese curds. There is also a tour, although I have never taken it.

Widmer’s is the best cheese in America. There’s no other way to put it. People wouldn’t drive to some random 2,000 person town in the middle of nowhere, WI to go to this tiny shop and pay ridiculous amounts of money for this cheese if it wasn’t. And it’s worth every last penny. Their cheese curds are squeaky good. Their aged cheddars 2 year old, 4 year old and 10 year old are to die for. It’s also fascinating to think this food I’m about to consume was made 10 years ago. But with time the cheese aged into a perfect taste. I was shocked when I finally went here, how small the place actually was. But they have all sorts of different cheeses, beef sticks, summer sausage, curds, etc. And free samples. I dare you to find a better cheese. Triple dog dare ya.

Thanks to an earlier posting mentioning that think you are walking into a store but it’s really a full blown factory. The actual retail space is the size of a walk in closet. While you wait for the tour to begin they have 8 different cheeses that you can sample. The tour begins and they take you to a shipping and receiving room with an old TV that has the owner giving you some history. After the video we spoke to the owners son and another worker that had been there for 34 years. Both very knowledgeable and friendly. We were able to taste the curds. They dont taste like much but look gross. Then we bought some cheeses. By the way we parked in front of the houses. There are no parking signs on the other side but cars were parked there anyway.
