I’m surprised I found a legit Mexican restaurant in town. The service is friendly and they make you feel welcomed. I ordered fish and carne asada tacos and went and helped myself to the salsa bar. I grabbed a mound of chips and a bowl of salsa and went and munched until my order arrived. The flour tortillas were obviously made in-house and were just right. Grilled fish(mahi-mahi I think) definitely hit the spot and the carne asada was quite tasty. This is a great Mexican dive. Food was solid, and my only negative experience was having to share my table with a few tiny ants that were looking to score some good Mexican food.

This place would be a good authentic go-to Mexican joint but the windows are covered in enormous red, white and blue posters with political jargon on them. When I go out to eat, I want to eat, have small talk and enjoy myself. I don’t want a political agenda jammed down my throat. 3 mins in, they also turned off the music(at 7:30 on a Thurs.) which was odd. Had shrimp chile relleno that was pretty good, lacking on rice with a heap of sauce & refried bean gravy w/2 small flour tortillas. Great chips/salsa/queso and fresh guac. The server was cute, about 15& didn’t know what chile relleno was.

Chips and Salsa bar!!! Wahoo!!! I am a bit ashamed that I have not been here in quite some time. One of my biggest beefs when moving to Louisiana, was the lack of authentic Mexican food. To my surprise, the Pirate and I happened upon this small restaurant that had all the indications of the Mexican meal s that we have loved while in California and Mexico. The owner is the real deal, hailing from Zacatecas, Mexico. The food was delicious, but one of the best features is the selection at the salsa bar that can jump start any ordinary meal. I usually order enchiladas and generally steer clear clear of ground beef. On this day at lunch I ordered the chicken enchiladas with rice and beans and then doused them with several of the delicious salsas… My friend, Steph, whom is not quite a vegetarian wanted the lunch Burrito, but was not keen on the meat. She spoke to the waitress, who was not sure if a substitution could be made, but would ask the chef. Sure enough, in record time she came back all smiles that she would accommodate my friend. I love that! Their menu is full of choices that are well known in ALL regions of Mexico and they also serve a variety of traditional Mexican desserts(though we were just too full to sample any this time). What took me so long to return… no excuses for this La Palma Amigo… and next time I’ll try the fried ice cream or flan.

This is definitely better than El Paso and La Casa. A lot better quality and more authentic mexican food. Will go here for my mexican food fix!

Best Mexican around the Houma Thibodaux area. I have lived in Texas and have eaten at some pretty great Mexican places, La Palma is one of the best for sure.

one of the best Mexican restaurants that I have been visited. I have been there plenty of times and every item has been worth raving about. The owners are friendly and the costs are surprisingly low. In fact, I might go there now. This review is making me hungry. Ask for the #16 if you are up to the challenge.

This is of my FAVORITE places to eat! I’ve always gotten the chimichanga rancheras, and they’re always perfect!
