A solid 3. Everything was fine. Doubt the BBQ is made in house. Slaw overdressed, good flavor though. Small town fare and facility. Good ice.

Five stars for the breakfast biscuits of any kind. We usually get the tenderloin, but all the rest are just as tasty and the portions are huge. We travel over 30 minutes to get those blessed good biscuits. They serve Cheerwine too. :)

Tasty BBQ, chopped slaw was great and crinkle fries! You have to love the local restaurants that are still surviving and making it work.

This place has one of the best tenderloin and cheese biscuit in the area. I stop there often.

Pretty ok BBQ. Sauce is kinda runny and vinegary though. Right across the street from the donut place so that’s neat.

If you want the biggest biscuit sandwich you’ve ever had in your life, get the fried pork tenderloin with egg and cheese. Trust me, I’m a big eater and I almost ordered two the first time I went there. There is no way I could eat two of these things. Each one has got to weigh a pound. If you’re still hungry, grab an apple fritter next door at Granny’s donuts.

Love going to this place for a biscuit at breakfast. Very good breakfast, nice people, great prices. If your going for lunch they also have good burgers. They have a drive thru, which is very convenient, and you have to stop by granny’s next door for a donut afterwards!

The name, Barbecue Shack, evokes an image of a typical NCBBQ joint, with a gravel lot, worn building with a flat roof, and smoke rising from smoldering hardwood — not even close. This is a fast food setup, with a small, crowded paved lot on a busy street, with a drive thru, without wait service, and no sign of smoke. Seating area is madeup entirely of 2 sections of booths, all kind of worn and dated, as were the observed patrons. The menu is on the wall, with some daily specials handwritten along side. You get in line, place your order, pay, and wait there while the order is filled — several minutes at most, this is fast food. They fill the drink order at the counter, and there tends to be a lot of ice — you’ll probably need a refill at some point. The cheeseburger special(with FF& regular drink) goes for $ 5.60, and the burger is very good, loaded with flavor. Frankly, the special really isn’t worth it because the FF are dreadful, especially if your order is to go since the drink tends to be more ice than drink. The chili dog is just so/so — thin chili with an underlting sweetness, cost is $ 1.75. The Chopped BBQ sandwich is pretty good — this is typical Lexington style cue, moderately chopped with a touch of sweetness in the sauce, which is only lightly applied. The red BBQ slaw here is not at all bad, goes very well on the sandwich. The amount of barbecue on the sandwich is not large, but the sandwich overall is nice, priced at $ 3,30. The sandwich here reminds me of the one at Archdale Barbecue up the road. The Tenderloin Biscuit is huge, must weigh ¾ of a pound or better(cost $ 3.25). It is heavily breaded and is nice & tender. Comes plain, so you need to tell them up front if you want mayo, etc. The biscuit itself is large, nice crust, tender inside, but has little taste, at least to me. Not a bad place for a quick sandwich(skip the FF and the chili dog) or breakfast biscuit. Service is efficient, if somewhat mechanical.

The BBQ Shack is probably some 30 yrs old. When they first open my wife would bring home their biscuits. I know most people say a biscuit is a biscuit, butttttttttt let me tell you this. I’ve had one from about every kind of fast food joint up and down road since they started selling them. A morning biscuit from here taste like your momma’s, no joking. Real bacon, the thick salty kind. Country Ham that you taste at the first bite! Tenderloin that’s breaded and is so tender. When you walk up to the counter to order you can see your biscuit made. I don’t know how many biscuits the guy has put to gather but you could probably line them for miles down the road. They have all the other meats, these are just my choices. On Saturdays expect a line at the drive thru as at the counter. If you want lunch Their BBQ is not bad nor their hot dogs and burgers. I’ve learn that each Q joint is different. From the dip to the way it is cooked and served. I’m all so not quick to judge on the first bite… No smoky taste, but its tender and has a good taste. Don’t expect a fancy building or décor. The service is very good, and very friendly. Your food is in front of you as soon as you pay. That’s quick.Take cash no cards, and don’t drop by on Sunday. They won’t be there… I can respect that.
