If I could give it less than one store I would but it makes you choose at least one. Went there today had the chicken fried chicken and it tasted like it was an already cooked frozen chicken that was defrosted in the microwave and dumped in an old battery of cooking oil. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant. Had the fried pickles for an appetizer the pickles inside were cold and the outside was hot. The salad was okay but you can’t screw that up too much. Didn’t care for the croutons on the salad. My father-in-law had a a hamburger steak which actually look like a frozen hamburger patty with onions and mushrooms and gravy thrown on top. I can probably get a frozen patty from Wal-Mart and it would taste better than that. My mother-in-law got chicken fried steak she didn’t say much about was but it did take look like it took a lot of effort just to cut it. I know I had to work out cutting my chicken fried chicken. My husband had the same thing I did but had onion rings with his that were mushy. The bill was more than $ 50 for nothing special don’t think we’ll go back there again take my advice and skip it and go to the Downtown Café on 79.

Under new ownership and it’s never been better! We’ve been here multiple times and the food was always good. There aren’t many choices in town, so it’s nice to have a place that offers a good variety of food. I haven’t been home in over a year and ate there yesterday for my birthday dinner. The catfish was the best catfish I’ve had in years! My son, who’s notorious for having eyes bigger than his stomach, cleaned his bowl of mac and cheese. I even snuck a few bites, it was that good! The place was clean. Every single person on the staff was friendly and our waiter was super attentive. Their prices are incredibly reasonable. The menu is big enough to have a good selection, but not overwhelmingly big. We will definitely be back before I leave town again. I really hope this place succeeds. In a small town where competition can get the best of people, I sincerely hope people will give this place a shot. Not because of who they know or who they’re friends with, but because the food is wonderful, the atmosphere is homey, and the prices can’t be beat.

The is place recently had a management change & oh boy can you tell it. The food used to be great, home cooked and always fresh now its borders on disgusting. Had the nachos, nothing but a pile of greasy and old clumpy cheese. Gone are the great pinto beans, garlic mashed potatoes. The complementary fresh bread delivered with every meal no longer exsits. The burgers are gawd awful greasy, & fries cost extra,(dont come with burger). Lots of menu changes on the one page plastic menu, which actually mirrors the food come to think of it. Basically dont bother coming here.

I completely agree with William. Uptown Café has terrible food and is ran by people who just simply don’t care… The Thorndale Café has traditional country food that is made by hand. It is also a much better atmosphere and the Manager is very kind.
