What does an Italian guy from the East Coast do when he moves to the sunny West Coast to retire? He brings a little East Coast heritage with him of course!
And as comedian Joe Piscopo (another East Coast Paisano) used to say: «You can take a kid outta Jersey, but you can’t take Jersey outta da kid!»…or in Hot Diggity Dog owner Eddie Mannello’s case… the fine peaceful East Coast state of Connecticut.
Whether you are from New Yorker, Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania (Joe Biden country) East Coast Wise Guy low key and on the lamb, banker, or any number of East coast types, we all get homesick for a real slice (East Coast speak for REAL pizza) Italian, Polish, German, Jewish, or anyone from the UN we all know the real best hot dogs are the SABRETT dogs with casing that ‘pop’ just right as you dig your teeth into and take your first bite of.
It’s a childhood craving that is hard to explain and easier to share.
Especially since ‘our friend’ Eddie is here on the job doin it ‘Old Skool’ with the traditional hot dog cart.
Just Like in New York and New Jersey.
So whether you want a kraut dog, spicy sautéed onion dog, etc… ask Eddie
They even have IBC cola, root beer, CREME soda… but no BIRCH BEER!
Rain or shine Eddie and his picnic tableside crew are there.

This is a hot dog cart and is not always at this location. It can be hit or miss. I made a special trip over there only to not find it. Called the number listed and it is his cell phone. 3 hours later, returned my call to say he left early. I thought it was no longer at this location. Never did get to try the hot dogs.
Went over to Garage dogs instead, that is an actual location, and had a wonderful hot dog there.

So I’m a total foodie. I thoroughly enjoy the whole range of food from vegan and raw to Southern barbecue fare. I’m highly selective about where I would ever eat a hotdog and Eddie’s Hotdogs, or Hot Diggity Dog is really the only place I trust to do just that. I know that the product is fresh, I know that he makes his peppers and onions by hand, and I know that he strives to give good value and great service. Incidentally he’s probably one of the most friendly men I have ever come across and he is amiable with everyone you meet. If you’re ever in the Westlake Promenade for a movie, marketing, shopping, or even a trip to Restoration Hardware, I would strongly recommend stopping by for a dog and a cold drink. He has a variety of different sausages and unique food choices to make even a once a week visit worth your while. Five Stars to a great man.

Best hot dogs ever! Sabrett hot dogs just like New York. Every item is amazing! Sooo good! Eddie is wonderful. Great personality and entertainer. All around A+. A must stop if you are in Ventura County!
